a desktop/tower will usually have some ports on the back and a couple on the front, usually down at the bottom

a laptop will usually have USB ports on the sides, or sometimes on the back

I have a desk top, with a tower

is the USB port where yuu plug in a I-pod to download music

I have a tower and I have 2 USB ports in front and 4 on the back.
