View Full Version : How is the absence of the Julie character explained at the beginning of season 6? TVFactFan 04-13-2015, 12:35 AM I stumbled across this information by a accident that she is not on the show at the beginning of season 6 but returns at the end of season. TVFactFan 04-13-2015, 07:39 AM With her husband because he got a job there. And then when she returned it was stated because he was cheating on her. And I think I read she was pregnant? Lol Not her ThomasE 04-13-2015, 11:17 PM Basically, Mack Phillips was fired almost towards the end of season five. Julie and Max moved to Texas. Season six HAD NO JULIE! Season seven, Mack was going to go on tour with her father and his group but since she recovered from her addiction, she was offered the chance to come back to the show for four episodes during season seven. She was billed at the end of the episode credits that she was featured in. I have the two part ep when she thought Max had an affair but it he didn't and she actually did with a neighbor back in Texas named Harold. Julie and Max reconciled and she announced that she was pregnant!!!. She and Michael Lembeck were back for the next season and were billed with the rest of the cast. Julie had her baby in a two part ep that season. I uploaded the labor ep two part on You Tube. You Tube did take down the first few minutes I uploaded, though. After she had the baby, she and Max (episodes later) moved back to Indianapolis and moved in with Ann and then with Grandma Romano before moving into a house with Mark and Barbara. Mr. Television 04-14-2015, 06:54 PM The shows best years was before Mack left the first time. The show was still good but it wasn't the same. TVFactFan 04-14-2015, 07:38 PM The shows best years was before Mack left the first time. The show was still good but it wasn't the same. She is sexy as hell in this first season lol I better enjoy because I know it will come to an end by season 4 lol ThomasE 04-14-2015, 11:10 PM But she looks pretty good again during seasons seven and eight. Season nine, she looks off but only because of what the drugs did to her. 1981 Julie Meets Alex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPO6RywYWTI 1982 Miracle of Birth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95kwbITEbAM TVFactFan 04-14-2015, 11:15 PM But she looks pretty good again during seasons seven and eight. I doubt if season 7 and 8 Julie is on the level of season 1 Julie. lol I keep thinking of her SEXY DANCE;) ThomasE 04-14-2015, 11:21 PM Check out the links I posted in the topic about her being billed last. She looks really good. Now, in this previous post, I just added two clips of Mack from season seven and eight above I uploaded on You tube. "Julie Meets Alex" and "Miracle of Birth". Even Michael Lembeck (Max) saw himself out of the job. She got even thinner and they tried to dress her in clothes that would hide and pad the thinness. The beginning of the last season of the series, they had to shoot her from far away because of her appearance. I the eps and she looked very sickly and skeletal. ThomasE 04-15-2015, 12:31 AM why didn't they fire her again if she started using drugs again? They did. It was Bonnie's idea this time around. Mack was lying down on a couch during break and the producer came in the room and said that she needed to have Mack take a drug test. Mack asked her to wait until later but the producer(Patricia Fass Palmer, I think) sad she needed a test now. Mack responded with "Don't bother". Mack got up, walked out and never came back. Also, I was curious so I checked out the openings for ODAAT for the last season or so. All I could say is wow. Schneider got to be number 2 behind Ann and I dont recognize anybody else. I know Mack was gone but all these other people, I dont know who they are. ThomasE 04-15-2015, 04:02 PM LOLOL. You know that Mack was in the last season opening as well. I remember it, well. For a while, the opening from final season with her in it was on You Tube but I can't find it, now. I uploaded the other openings with the exception of seasons two and three on YouTube. The last season version I uploaded has Howard Hessman behind Bonnie and before Schnieder. Where was Mackenzie Phillips? She was billed behind Boyd Gaines (Barbara's hubby Mark) and is billed before Mike Lembeck(Julie's Hubby Max). For her profile, they used shots of her from the previous season as being unable to use anything from the current since she had to be shot from far away due to her looks. mets82 04-15-2015, 04:11 PM Thomas, the links that you posted for Solomon about Julie, is that your youtube page? ThomasE 04-15-2015, 04:15 PM Yeah. I posted theme openings from seasons 1, 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 along with a 30 second clip when Julie comes back from Texas and the ep when Julie gives birth. ThomasE 04-15-2015, 04:24 PM Here is a promotional pic used after the theme song and opening in the last season. You know when the announcer goes "One Day At A Time sponsored by..." and the logo is across the screen as he speaks. This one has the cast and Mack is to the far right. Generally, she'd do pics right next to Bonnie and Valerie but she was placed in the back probably due to her physical appearance. I recall Mack saying that she was always shot from far away during the last season. It is kinda sad. She did her three or four eps and abruptly left after being asked to do a drug test. Even thought she left again, Michael Lembeck stayed this time...BUT HE FELL FOR BARBARA!!! ;) TVFactFan 04-15-2015, 07:01 PM Here is a promotional pic used after the theme song and opening in the last season. When I saw her in her first scene in this season, I taken aback as she looked like a skeleton. It was a little upsetting. I felt worried for her, even though it was a rerun. It was like she was at death's door. This pic is probably one of her best shots, I hate to say. TVFactFan 04-15-2015, 08:56 PM Dude, I told you. Well i hope Antenna TV allows me to see up to season 6 lol ThomasE 04-15-2015, 09:14 PM Well i hope Antenna TV allows me to see up to season 6 lol It will. Plus, you gave me an ep from season six in a trade. Julie's wedding to Max!!! You have an idea. Now, I am believing that Antenna will air the show all the way through as I wanted to tape the last two seasons. She had 50,000 per episode and messed that up quickly. Season two began in the 11:30 block last night so there is strong hope. Mr. Television 04-15-2015, 10:21 PM Antenna TV is pretty good at letting shows run through at least one cycle especially when they're on weekdays. It was seen way less in syndication than ODAAT was. TVFactFan 04-15-2015, 10:31 PM I am really surprised that Maude has lasted as long as it did on Antenna TV. I'm just afraid not a lot of people are watching on the eastcoast because 11pm people are getting ready for bed or watching the news DJM77 04-16-2015, 08:47 PM 1981 Julie Meets Alex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPO6RywYWTI About 14 or 15 years ago I had a dream that I was watching One Day At A Time and it showed Ann and Barbra entering the apartment when all of the sudden there was this loud noise that sounded like someone knocking on the wall really hard and really fast. Ann and Barbra got these scared looks on their faces and then Ann said "Julie's back...AND SHE'S ON DRUGS!!!" The dream was sort of spooky, but it was also kind of funny.  ThomasE 04-16-2015, 09:29 PM About 14 or 15 years ago I had a dream that I was watching One Day At A Time and it showed Ann and Barbra entering the apartment when all of the sudden there was this loud noise that sounded like someone knocking on the wall really hard and really fast. Yeah, I had the dream right after I had watched some documentary on Mackenzie Phillips. A&E Biography, maybe. Whatever it was they had played a clip from that episode and it influenced my dream. I remember at the time thinking she looked like a skeleton! There was no way they could conceal her thinness with clothes because even her face was gaunt. She looked like death warmed over. She's probably very lucky to be alive. These days, she looks great. |
