The only thing I watch on MeTV is CHiP's and that is shown fullscreen. treky 04-09-2015, 12:44 PM I don't know how big the screen is, but I know it's not an HDTV. I emailed many times. Only get excuses. well, then maybe we DO have an HDTV. If we do I wonder why ON DEMAND says we don't???  pkripper001 04-10-2015, 10:45 PM What are the excuses you were given ? Mace Dolex 04-10-2015, 10:57 PM I don't know how big the screen is, but I know it's not an HDTV. Just to give an example old TV sets are considered 4.3 making it a nice square shaped screen and many classic TV shows were taped or filmed to be shown this way. I for example have a widescreen (16.9) HDTV but I have the menu settings set to watch old TV shows in their original aspect ratio of a square box giving me a black bars on the sides which in technical jargon is called "pillar box". Many current TV shows are now being filmed in a 16.9 widescreen format so you will always have the black bars top and bottom when watching on an old 4.3 TV set. Some stations offer an alternative and taking old TV shows and either stretching a 4.3 image to fit HDTV's or cutting the top and bottom of said TV ratio therefore ruining the original ratio even more. HarryWild 04-14-2015, 12:29 AM HDTV are very cheap now! Maybe you should upgrade to a 50" for $500? Coffeecup 04-18-2015, 07:33 PM I just found out in my area I get 2 stations for METV, Antenna TV and COZI. The other thought though, I thought my area lost Antenna TV and I was bummed but a day later it came back. One time I was watching Make Room for Daddy on non HD station and the sides are a little cut off. So I move to higher up station with HD and the sides are bigger. Sometimes with out knowing the show, I don't know the difference. Dude111 04-19-2015, 01:31 AM I see the black bars too and it is The local channel 2 doing it and they are refusing to fix it. I emailed many times. Only get excuses.Well dont back off!!! ME-TV shows thier stuff FULL SCREEN!!! If a local network is showing it LETTERBOX,everyone should complain!! treky 04-19-2015, 02:17 AM well, my local affiliate shows it in "letterbox"& I don't mind. At least they don't do what Cozi does and show it with black bars on top and bottom AND on both sides! They even show commercials that way:confused:  (and ME TV doesn't show EVERYTHING uncut, THE ODD COUPLE and MASH are edited. (not very much thankfully) I read they only cut what's absolutely nessacary. HarryWild 04-19-2015, 07:18 AM I have not watch ME TV in a while now since DECADES came to my area! I just got done with "Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea" and now it showing: "The Man From Uncle". It shows one TV show from beginning to the end of the series 24/7! It a blast to watch if you like the show that is! chriszme 04-19-2015, 10:07 AM Decades shows the programs the same as Cozi tv in a box in the middle of the screen. Total useless networks. The so stations has the ability to resize the image to 16:9 but the resolution is still 480i. My HDTV shows the actual board cast resolution when you hit the info button! |
