laying on Ann's bed and begging her to marry him after first saying he would give her a week. This submissive A$$hole is so annoying and it will be only another week before season 2 starts lol

Nothing manly about this dude at all

I hope this fool doesn't return later in the series as a guest

The character of David is so much different than the character this actor played on Rhoda, Nick Lobo , Brenda's boyfriend ! He was a conceited guy who played an accordion in a band and had Brenda wrapped around his finger!

Yeah you are right! David being a lawyer, and younger than Ann. And he really wasn't bad looking. He was a bit overweight but had a nice enough face. He didn't need to be begging an older woman with 2 kids to love him, esp. being that Ann wasn't even that pretty, she was OK, not ugly but very average looking only!

Ya'll are some serious David haters. Dang! LOL. I liked the dude as he was not a jerk at all. He was kewl, you guys. I can see if he was rude SOB but he loved Ann and the kids and was willing to take them on as his own. That is a real man, there.

I always suspected that his eps from season two were filmed during season one and held over for the season two. When TBS aired the show in 1988, the network skipped over season one and went right into season two beginning with the first non David episode where Barbara starts a rumor around school that she is "easy".

Now, that I think about it, I don't think TBS liked David either. LOL.

TBS started with season two and went through most of season seven and then started back again with beginning season one this time. Seasons eight and nine never aired on TBS with the exception of a season nine episode where Ann's new husband Sam has to keep changing cruise reservations for a Christmas getaway. This aired shortly before Christmas of 1988 on TBS with keeping with theme of Christmas episodes.

I saw that when it aired on TBS back in 1989. I remember that Ann was PO'd and I recall that the other woman shared ice cream having their own pints to eat as they talked woman to woman. LOL. I missed the ep tonight but that is what I remembered from memory.

Nah, I don't hate David!! :) He was OK, yes he was a gentleman. And he did show that he had some balls ( literally, LOL) when he was sleeping with that neighbor. He didn't want to leave Ann, she seemed to have his heart , but he wanted something else too that she wasn't giving him! ;) ( So when the mouse won't play, the cat will stray) !!!!!

He should have left her alone, in that case. He spend that time pursuing her to only cheat on her? "Don't waste the woman's time" is what I say.

Well he liked her company, and was thinking eventually he would have her. Plus the man was getting his laundry done too! Wow what was that all about. Ann doing his laundry? I was wondering if maybe he paid her to wash his clothes or something? Because if she was doing it for free, than she really liked David more than she was admitting! ;)

And she did admit it at the end. After she found out about David and that woman, she did realize how much she liked him! ;)

You know what, Bonnie girl? You have some good points. This situation also shows that people are complex and get themselves into complex situations. David is human and a man a the same time. I want to see the ep again as I have not seen it since early 1989 on TBS as a kid.

And at first I was like........."why is he about to apologize to a woman he had not had sex with yet?"

lol

Ironic that Bonnie Franklin says that (in her opinion) season one was in trouble. She was not crazy about the first year.

It wasn't in too much trouble since the show finished at #12.

Ann is dating Nick Handris and David and Nick vie for her attention.

She is flattered by their interest but for whatever reason they grow tired of her and both walk out on her.

It was kind of a clunker of an episode and a horrible way to retire those characters.
