I'll never understand what Mother Jefferson had against Louise. Louise is like one of the nicest, compassionate, unselfish people in the world. I guess Mother Jefferson was just a typical old biddy who thinks that nobody is good enough for her son.

That is EXACTLY why! Louise was a sweetheart and put up with it! Mother Jefferson took advantage of that! George was her baby boy and nobody would ever be good enough for him in her eyes, and she had a very nice, good daughter in law and she knew it, but she thought she could still hold on to her son and be the most important woman in his life easier being that Louise was putting up with her. If Louise was a tougher more aggressive type and wouldn't put up with it, Mother J couldn't be doing that!;)

OMG I have two sons, I hope I don't come off like that with their girlfriends!!!!!!! LOL!!! :D

Can you believe that Louise (Isabelle Sanford) was actually 20 years older than George (Sherman Hemsley)? Crazy, huh? She was actually old enough to be his mom. What's crazy is that they don't look like they are 20 years apart!

Right? Unbelievable! Louise (Isabelle) was born in 1917 and George (Sherman) was born in 1938. Crazy stuff. At the most, they look about five years apart. Hard to believe it's actually 20 years! That means Louise was really 57 years old when The Jeffersons debuted. George was 37.

Yes, they looked to be about the same age. Louise looked very young for her age, and George looked older for his age. Well, they made it work, because they really were believable as a married couple.

George was so skinny in the early seasons, and then as the years went by, he got quite chubby. Funny because Tom Willis was very chubby early on and as the series waned on, Tom got thinner.

That's because he was fasting during the first season which he explained why he was so skinny

It was the episode where George holds a beauty contest as a gimmick for Jefferson Cleaners. Whittendale's loser neice was supposed to be the winner. Her ridiculous talent was a balloon knocking down dominos! She had a punk rock hair style dyed about 5 different colors. Louise called her "it."

Side note, I love the seasons where George and Tom became best friends. Back in the earlier seasons, I don't think Sherman Hemsley liked insulting Tom Willis.

OMG, I LOVED the episode with Lou Gosset hitting on Louise!
At least they did show a good episode with Louise's French student Michelle hitting on her. I think he was the same guy who was in 227. I liked the episode of the guy who liked Florence because of the way she insulted George. That was last night. I had my contact lenses out, so I didn't really see him, but he sounded like the same man who played the role of Roger's father on What's Happening. Do you know if that was him?

I was just thinking about way back when the series started, I didn't know any people who were in mixed marriages. I did know (and went to school with) quite a few black kids and had really good friendships, but none of those kids were bi-racial.

So I found Tom & Helen sort of intriguing. Of course any man is going to be interested in someone as good-looking as Roxie.

Watched a little of the marathon. Mother Jefferson is beyond annoying. Louise had the patience of a saint to be around that old fart.

Honestly, I didnt like Tom Willis. To me, he came off like a big goof. I did like Louise and George although Louise bothered me in the Ms. Jefferson Cleaners episode. I mean she went on and on about how the pagent is sexist yet when her friend was in it, it was ok.

Btw, Florence left the show, right? I mean she did a spin-off that wasnt picked up and then came back? Also, how were Lionel and Jenny written out of the show. Never saw too much of them as the seasons went on or at least the episodes that I saw. Also, surprised that the Bunkers never visited the Jeffersons and vice versa. That would have been cool.

Florence left the show toward the end of season 7 and came back when the show was cancelled. It was said Lionel was in Japan but nothing was ever said about jenny.

It was no way for the Bunkers to visit because only edith was friends with Louise and she wasn't going to travel to Manhattan alone without Archie so it was no way it could ever happen.
