Jinny slowly walked into the division. She had her head hung over her shoulders as she silently walked to her desk, without looking at a single person in the room. Magda glanced at Jinny in dismay. She had been so depressed lately, and she and for some unknown reason she wouldn’t talk to her. She was doing so well. Suddenly Magda’s thoughts were interrupted by the Captain emerging from her office.
K: Exstead in my office, you too Ramirez.
Magda waited as Jinny slowly rose from her reclined position and walked into the Captain’s office to follow.
K: Sit down. I have some major news for you two.
The captain waited patiently for the two inspectors to take their seats across from her.
K: Okay, a few of my superiors and I have decided to have one of you go undercover to get the hard proof we need against Pierce Hudson. We have had surveillance on him for the last month and every Friday at the same time he goes and picks up a hooker at the corner of Hoyt and Belleview. Since we know that two of the women have eventually died we know that this is going to be dangerous, but we feel it is a risk we must take.
Magda glance over at Jinny’s stone clad face and then back at the captain.
M: Okay I will do it.
Jinny was about to protest when she was interjected.
K: See that is the problem. He always chooses a white female.
Both of the women gradually turned to stare at Jinny. Her face still did not change.
K: Jinny it is up to you. Do you think you can handle this? I know you have had a couple of hard days with your father and all, but we really need you.
The captain finished her questioning and waited for Jinny’s response. Magda almost wanted to burst out what problem with your father? But she refrained herself.
M: Captain I don’t think this is a good idea. Jinny just got back from rehab, I don’t think she should do this.
K: It is not your decision to make Magda.
Jinny sat there as the two talked candidly about her. Finally after every other thought had crossed her mind she broke the silence with a weak, but yet forceful: Yes.
Great the captain thought. Jinny could use this action for her benefit.
K: Okay you only have ten more hours to get ready, go to the third floor they are waiting for you.
Without another word Jinny got up and left to get ready.

M: I can’t believe you. She is not ready for this. I can't believe you want her to go undercover as a prostitute.
K: Has Jinny told you about her father yet?
M: No.
K: Well, that is wired I thought she told you everything, and she told me first.
The captain stated with a small smirk going across her face. Jinny told me something important before she told Magda. Great our friendship is becoming better.
M: What about her father? What does this have to do with her going undercover?
Before she could answer there was a knock on the door. Both of the women turned around to see Raina standing at the door.
R: I am sorry to interrupt, but some one is on the phone for Jinny and they say it is an emergency.
K: She is busy I will take it. Magda go get Jinny for me.
Magda quickly left to go get Jinny. She had no idea what was going on with her and it bothered her that she told the captain about it and not her. Why would she tell her and not me, was the only thought that was running through her mind as she went into the doors at the third level and spotted Jinny. She was being shown a wire she could wear under her clothing so they could hear her. When Jinny heard the doors open and close she turned her head to find Magda looking at her with a hurt and concerned look on her face.
J: What is it? Jinny asked vigilantly.
M: Jinny, there is a phone call for you. They said it was an emergency.
As soon as Jinny heard the words come out of Magda’s mouth she hurriedly moved to the elevator door and hit the button to go up. The captain was standing in her doorway when Jinny came in. When Jinny saw the look on the Captain’s face she already knew the news. With a feeble “no” she fell to the floor unconscious.

Jinny slowly opened her eyes to discover she was no longer at the division. Where am I she pondered out loud.
Then a very familiar voice stated: Jinny you are at the hospital. You fainted when you saw the captain. Why did you faint, she wouldn’t tell me what the phone call was about ? Jinny is something wrong with your dad?
Jinny quickly looked to Magda as she remembered why she had blacked out.
In a very feeble voice she asked: Is the captain here? I would kind of like to talk to her if she is?
Magda looked at Jinny in utter disappoint.
M: Yeah, she is here. I will go get here.
As Magda left Jinny scanned the entire room she was in. She was still in her street clothes, but she was lying in her own hospital room, with blood caked across her forehead.
Her thoughts ceased when she heard the door open and close again. Without turning her head Jinny asked in a despondent : He’s dead, isn’t he?
The captain just said, yes. She could see the pain in Jinny’s body, and hear the anguish in her voice.
The captain waited a few minutes before she stated: The doctor says you are okay, and that you can go home whenever you want.
Jinny sat up a little bit and just nodded.
K: Do you want me to get Magda to take you home?
Once again Jinny just nodded.
The captain turned to leave, but change her mind and went to sit down by Jinny. She gently laid her hand on Jinny’s back and moved it in a soothing circular motion.
K: You know my mom, just died. Well she died a long time ago but her body finally gave out on her. Your father was a good man.
Jinny still could not bring herself to say anything. The captain realized that no words could help the turmoil she was feeling. She was finally overcoming her mother’s death, and now her father had passed from a massive coronary. Kate just sat there rubbing Jinny’s trembling back as tears lined the brimming of her eyes.
Kate could barley bring herself to utter: Jinny, you don’t always have to be strong. You can let us help you with this, and Jinny you can cry.
At hearing Kate’s last words Jinny leaned into the captain’s warm embrace, and cried on her shoulder. The captain held Jinny in her arms. In so many ways Jinny was still like a child. She had never had a mother, or a father at that, to guide her though her teenage years.
Jinny’s tears seeped through Kate’s clothing and onto her skin.
Kate mumbled: Oh, it’s okay Jinny. It is okay.
The captain held Jinny until long after her sobs subsided. At long last she took her arms away from Jinny and asked: Do you want me to go get Magda now?
Still she could not speak, so she nodded.
K: Okay. Jinny know that I am always here for you.
Was the last sentence that Kate told Jinny before she left.

Ahhhhh sooo sad but great! I loved the captian-jinny moment.

Magda reentered the room moments later. Jinny methodically raised her eyes to Magda’s. Noticing her crimson eyes and tear stained cheeks, Magda darted to Jinny.
M: What is it? What’s wrong?
J: He’s dead Mag. He’s dead.
M: Who Jinny? Whose dead?
J: Dad is. He had a massive coronary the other day, and he died today.
M: Oh, Jinny. I am so sorry. Come on I will take you home.
Jinny looked at Magda for a second and then followed her out of the hospital and to her car.

*In The Car*

The two women had ridden in complete silence. Jinny stared out the passenger window, with her eyes rarely moving. Magda was becoming increasingly more worried about her.
M: Hey, um Jinny, why don’t you stay at my house for a couple of days?
J: Mag, I am fine.
M: No your not. Don’t lie to me. Jinny don’t do this to yourself. Please just come and stay at my house for the weekend.
J: Mag, you have Ben and Gabe, you don’t need me there.
M: Don’t talk to me like you are not a part of this family. Ben loves you, and Gabe will understand.
Jinny knew Magda was right, but she did not want her feeling obligated to her.
J: Magda …
Jinny was about to plead her case, but Mag quickly intercepted it and stated,
M: I am not letting you stay in that house alone. Now you can either come with me willingly or not, but you are staying at my house for the weekend.
Jinny felt too weak to argue, so she just turned and looked out the passenger window.

Slowly Magda pulled into the driveway ion front of the Exstead house and turned off the ignition. She glanced over to see that Jinny had not even moved an inch.
M: Let’s go get clothing for a couple of days okay?
J: Yeah, okay.
They moved silently into the house. Magda noticed that the house looked vacant as they were climbing the stairs. When they arrived at Jinny’s room, Jinny went to the closet and grabbed everything she would need for a couple of days. She came out moments later with a black duffle bag.
M: You ready?
Jinny mumbled an inaudible reply that Magda took as a yes. She walked over to Jinny and grasped the handles of the bag and put her arm around Jinny at the same time.
M: Jin, it is going to be okay. Lets go to my house and I will make you a late lunch.
Once again the two women walked silently to Magda’s car.

The night had long since come and Jinny had been sitting in the same position in the guest room since they had arrived at Magda’s house that afternoon. Magda crept into the room to sit by Jinny on the bed. The light had never been turned on in the murky room. Magda had vainly attempted to talk to Jinny all day. The trays of food that she had carried into the room for both lunch and dinner had gone unnoticed by Jinny. Magda hadn’t a clue of how to help Jinny. Her soothing words were on deft ears. Her hugs were used on an uninviting and cold body. Magda just sat there wondering if there was anything that would comfort Jinny, besides alcohol.
Suddenly Jinny spoke. Her voice was husky and sporadic.
J: This is the first person that I have loved that has died, and that I can’t drink with.
Magda was shocked she knew alcohol was going to come up, but she still had no idea of how to handle it.
M: Um, do you need to talk to your sponsor?
Jinny pondered the question for a couple of minutes before she firmly answered, no.
M: Well I called Casey for you. He said he would come by tomorrow.
Jinny nodded. Magda doubted that she was even listening to her.
M: Um, well it is late and we both need rest. So I will see you in the morning okay?
J: Yeah, in the morning.
Magda stood and started to exit the room, but stop and turned around.
M: Jin, if you need to talk I don’t care when it is, just come and get me. I am always there for you.
With that she left.
Jinny almost laughed when Magda said that. It was funny to her, how she had two people tell her that they were there for her, but as soon as the words were out of their mouths they left. They said they were always there right before they leave, that’s funny. Jinny thought to herself. Her back hurt from sitting rigid the entire day. She had been doing everything possible to get her mind off of alcohol, but it was all a futile attempt. She heard Magda quietly go into her room. Every noise roared through the night air. Slowly she rose to her feet and stretched her aching limbs. She walked to the door and in a subdued manner opened the door. Every light in the house was extinguished and everyone was sound asleep except for the person that quietly crept out of the dwelling.

*GASP*......... *GASP GASP*.... *GASP!!!!!*

Damn this is good! MORE!

The night air pierced her uncovered skin. The night was as dead as the house she had just left. Jinny walked around aimlessly just thinking and wondering about what her future might hold. She passed many empty bars, but then as her craving and hunger for alcohol were dying down she came across a bar that was bursting with people. They were happy and joyous. Life meant nothing to them but a good time. She wanted that. She wanted to be oblivious, if only for one night she wanted to be ignorant to her overwhelming emotions. Her life had been nothing but misery, she deserved just that one drink. She methodically moved to the door handle and grasped it with her dampened hand. The door handle felt like putty in her hands as she pulled it a jarred. The sound of the ongoing party quickly captivated her. She made a b-line to the bar and sat down. The bartender came over to her and with a sly smile asked what he could get for her. Jinny was about to answer when the bartender was somehow taken away. But when he returned to her, she was already gone.

did Jinny just run off with a guy, or am I making CRAZY assumptions again? oh well anyway POST MORE!

She ran from the club as fast as she could. She how no idea where she was going, but she just ran. The sun’s rays were starting to awaken across the sky. Jinny’s lungs implored her to stop her running. Perspiration blinded her as it swept from her brow and into her throbbing eyes. Her lungs were now screaming for oxygen, but she couldn’t stop. She had to get as far away from the place as she could. Her head spun around from the lack of air, as her limbs twinge from the torture she was imposing on them. Finally she collapsed from exhaustion. She glanced at her surroundings to find that she was in the same place she had come to after her haunting intervention. The city had just woken up, when the blackness started to take over her thoughts. She welcomed the storms of black clouds that engulfed her last thoughts as she fell into to a sweet oblivion.

Just to let you know, I have some major testing this week at my school. It sucks I have like 4 hours of testing each day and then I still have to go to my classes. But my point is is that I may not be able to post that often, I'll try but I doubt this week you guys will get much. Sorry

There was a sounding knock that rippled its way through the entire Ramirez house. Magda swiftly moved to where the sound had resounded from. She opened the door to find bloodshot eye’s looking back at her. His shoulders were low and feet unbalanced. He looked all together horrible.
M: Oh, Casey. Come on in. I haven’t talked to Jinny yet this morning. She looked exhausted last night so I figured that it would be best just to let her sleep.
C: Yeah, I guess so.
M: Do you want anything?
C: No I am fine. Can you just show me where Jinny is?
Magda just nodded. She knew this was extremely hard on both of the siblings. Magda stepped in front of the door and was about to open it when she thought that it needed to be Casey alone to go in.
M: I am going to make coffee, just call me if you two need anything.
Casey stood outside the door for eternity. He couldn’t understand why it was so hard for him to go to Jinny. She had supported him through everything that he had encountered with his life, but for some reason it took all of his strength to open the door.
The door opened easily and Casey was left there in the doorjamb peering around. Mmmmm where is she? He thought. It was a modest sized room, and the bed looked as though it hadn’t been used. Casey ran through the room. Where the hell is she? Oh, no. She couldn’t have gone to… Casey stopped his wondering thoughts and darted to the kitchen to find Magda and Gabe enthralled in a deep conversation. Magda noticed him first and came to her feet.
With concern in her voice Magda asked: What is it?
C: Magda, where is Jinny?
Magda looked rather confused when Casey asked the question.
M: What? She is in her room, of course.
C: The room that you showed me?
Magda was starting to become very worried.
M: Of course the room I showed you.
C: Well she is not in there.
G: Well, maybe she is in the bathroom.
M: I’ll go check.
Magda sprinted to the bathroom. Inside was nothing. Jinny was gone.

Magda had ran past Casey and told them that she was gone.
M: Gabe, did you ever hear her leave?
G: No babe I didn’t. I thought she was in that room the entire time.
M: OMG, where could she have gone?
Suddenly Magda realized how Jinny dealt with her mom’s passing and looked at Casey in horror.
As if reading her mind Casey just looked towards the ground and stated: She probably went to a bar.
M: You don’t know that.
C: That is what she has been doing her entire life, Mag. She gets upset she drinks, she gets happy she drinks, something happens and she doesn’t know how to handle it she drinks. Mag she drinks.
Magda knowing Casey was right just nodded. Gabe was feeling very uncomfortable, he knew Jinny and all and he liked her, but he did not know her past and the way she dealt with her problems.
G: Um, well what do we do?
They all stood there wondering what to do when they heard a noise coming from the porch.
Mag quickly ran to the front door and opened it rapidly. She stepped out on to the porch to see Jinny sitting on the steps looking at the morning sun.
Magda and Casey, who was following her, stopped dead in their tracks.
C: Where have you been ?
M: When did you leave?
C: Why did you leave?
M: Did you drink?
Jinny could hear the hear the questions coming from the two worried people standing behind her, but their questions went unanswered. She just sat there, as though the two didn’t even exists. Jinny was perfectly content to allow the world to go on around her as she looked lazily at the sky. When Magda and Casey realized that Jinny was not going to answer their questions they both sat down on the steps, one on each side of her. They both looked at her suspiciously, they could faintly smell alcohol on her clothing.
They sat there silently when Jinny stated: It is so beautiful.
M: What is?
J: The sun, the sky it is all beautiful.
Jinny had watched the sun move through the sky all the time when she was a child, but it seemed that today was the first day of her life when she registered what it really embodied. She almost smiled as she remembered the days she would lay in her backyard and peer at the sky. She always felt comfortable when she did. No matter what left her life, she always had the sun to show her the way. She had its warmth, its vibrancy to help her through the toughest days. When everything went chaotic she would look at the son and feel in peace. But when the day her mom died the sun died right along with her. It meant nothing to her anymore, until today.

Jinny awoke from a peaceful slumber to see Casey looking at her. The fading from the window’s gleam, made it hard for Jinny to see the simple features to Casey’s face.
J: What time is it?
C: About 7:00. You slept for a while.
J: Yeah I did, you know you didn’t have to stay.
C: Aw, while I wanted to talk to you. Um, but Magda just came in and said that dinner was done if either of us wanted anything.
J: Yeah, okay.
Jinny came to her feet. A cloud of black dizziness overcame her and she fell forward into Casey’s unsuspecting arms.
C: OMG, Jinny are you okay?
J: Yeah I am okay.
C: What happened?
J: I just got up too fast, and I am hungry. Lets just go get some food okay.
C: Yeah okay.
Casey opened the door and allowed Jinny to pass through before he did so himself. Magda heard the two coming from the hallway and turned to greet them.
M: Hey you two. I set places for you.
Jinny and Casey both went and sat down in the empty chairs. The dinner was quiet. No one spoke, or barley moved. The night was dead.
Jinny barely even touched her meal, she just moved it around the plate making it look as if she even card. Magda sat and watched Jinny for many minutes. She knew it was pointless to ask if she was okay, so she solemnly ate what was left on her own plate.
G: Hey, Ben why don’t we go get some ice-cream?
Ben’s face lit up as he ran to the door waiting for his dad. Gabe looked at Magda and spoke quietly: We will be back latter. Do you want anything?
M: No I am fine.
Gabe glanced around the table and then left with his son.
