View Full Version : Another new free channel
tiredmike59 01-03-2015, 04:11 AM I just discovered another new channel I'm getting now over the air called GRIT. Has anyone heard of it? Seems like I get a new channel every month now.

Me-TV and they stated clearly they don't want them.

We are over 90 minutes from a city and can't pick up anything on an antenna from that city. We don't have cable here, our only option is a dish.

Did you ask them why they didn't want them? It may be a logical one but I'd love to know what their reason is.

They said they have a better sub station. I can't remember what it is. It shows 'Judge' shows and Maury, Jerry Springer and other junk.
I even went in and talked to the manager, he apparently doesn't care for classic shows because after contacting Antenna TV a few years back, even they said our station wasn't interested.

That's a lame reason if I ever heard one.

My thoughts exactly and I told him that. I even tried to explain that people would prefer to watch the classic shows but it fell on deaf ears. I continued to 'contact' him for a few years but finally gave up.
bencasey 01-06-2015, 04:29 AM Looks like its all movies and The Rookies is the only thing they air worth a damn.
HarryWild 01-06-2015, 11:34 PM It appear in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area just last week! It showing 7 days of Clint Eastwood too to kick off the new programming.
I think it cool! Wonder what the new movies/TV is all about?

The main reason is that the station does not feel they can generate the same monies as trash TV brings in. Trash TV is aimed at housewives, unemployed and people who work evenings and are in the right demo class: 18-34 which is the premium advertising revenue for stations even if it not prime time evenings it brings in still twice as much as the 35-49 category. 50 and over category is very low revenue for stations since only marginal advertisers use it. It usually 1/5-1/10 of that of the 35-49 age category depending on the audiences numbers. More audience; the more they station can charge.
Mace Dolex 01-07-2015, 12:37 AM Here in Los Angeles, CA we have it but I'm no fan of westerns so I mostly don't watch it.

Westerners are great! Especially the 1950s episodes! They are basically tales of survival and going west to make ones fortune; cops and robbers too (law enforcement) and tales of revenge, etc...
I hope you try a few shows and maybe you have a change of heart!
tiredmike59 02-03-2015, 01:27 AM I found another channel while scanning my tv tonight. It's called the Justice Network, looks like it's all true crime and investigative shows.
Coffeecup 02-07-2015, 10:06 PM Yes I do get GRIT and I found it just a short while ago. I guess the beginning of the year brought changes for I am now receiving Antenna tv which I love. With Cozi, MeTv and Antenna I am pleased with all the old time tv shows. I did watch the Rookies one day on Grit but found the screen out of shape. The squad car was flat and wide. The plot was pretty good so I overlooked the screen shape.

If you have a decent Wi-Fi connection; you can get streaming TV for $20 a month! Go to Sling.com for details! It has CNN, TNT, TBS, HGTV and ESPN included. There are more channels too but I am lazy to type all of them in.
