I say this only because: April was the complete Hill Street Blues, June was complete Bob Newhart, August is complete Welcome Back, Kotter, October is complete WKRP, so on their every other month schedule, December (with a November early shipping) makes the most sense for FoL.

I really hope we get individual sets as I already own seasons 3-5. I'm not keen on the first two years either. But yes I'm nitpicking slightly - this is amazing news! Can't wait to get my hands on seasons 6 and 7!!!

When Shout Factory released Power Rangers season 1-15 (or something) on DVD, they released it in one huge package consisting of two box sets. So I'm thinking they'll release the full show, all 9 seasons, in one box set so for those of us who have seasons on DVD already, we will most likely get doubles.

Maybe, but when Shout released the Complete Jem dvd boxset, they made season 3 available as a standalone boxset. Let's hope it's the case with FOL.

Yeah it was a bum deal only releasing 5 seasons and then nothing only to find out years later that they are releasing the entire series. I feel your pain, but you all should be praising God that this is even happening. How many other companies can put out a show complete when the original home video divisions wouldn' give it a chance after seasons 1 or 2 or 5 or 6 or even 9? Shout! Factory has heard us and a whole lot of something is better than nothing at all. Stop complaining and look at the big picture! This could open the door for a whole lot of other stalled shows to be released! Next thing you know, they'll be coming out with Maude- The complete Series, or even The Jeffersons complete series. Who knows? This is a good thing here!

You forgot one more added burden and that is the DVDs will be in region 1 so if you don't have a region 1 player they won't work for you

Well, first off, Shout has generally been releasing complete series of shows that have been abandoned by other companies. FoL is the first one I can remember where they actually released a couple seasons themselves.

And second... So what? It's better to get the complete series in oen shot than waiting and hoping for another release. Also, The cost of the complete series set will wind up costing roughly what it would have cost to buy the remainder of the seasons not yet released. Or, you can wait for the remainder of the seasons to be released. Or, don't buy anything. Your choice. No one's twisting any arms to force you to buy shows.

Ah, true. "Sesasons 1 & 2" and "Season 3" were released to stores from Shout, but they did "Season 4" as a website-only available set (and the packaging is a little different); that's what I was thinking of.

^Either way, Shout! has a history of releasing a show and then they just leave it hanging with one or two seasons left.

Sweet box set! I'll preorder from amazon once it's up.

I'd like it early, but there is no way I will pay Shout's exorbitant shipping prices. I love their product but I got burned in 2010 when I ordered S4 of Rhoda and they charged me $27 to ship to Canada! (AND I later saw 2 copies at the record store in the mall despite it being a Shout Select title--OUCH). The Facts set would probably run me $100 just for shipping!

It will charge your card but then after a week or so, the money will be "put back" and then taken out again when the order actually ships. Basically, since you are ordering the item right now your card will act as if you already made your payment to keep you up to date with your money. But it won't actually be paid for until the item ships.

There were 201 regular episodes plus the two movies that were both split into four parts in syndication so that makes 209 total.

What would be the best release (a fantasy) would be the complete series plus all of the documentaries and "look-backs" at the show; their E! True Hollywood Story, the Cast Confessions special, etc. (plus an "as-complete-as-can-get" cast round table reunion discussion, and commentaries, of course).

I bought Seasons 1-5 when they were officially released on DVD a few years ago, whereas Seasons 6-9 have never been officially released on DVD until now, so I'm really looking forward to watching the previously unreleased later seasons first...

Is anyone else wondering what the video quality will be like since most of the seasons are being released on 3 discs each instead of 4? I was watching the season 5 set the other day and forgot how horrible the picture is for some of the episodes like Chain Letter. I know it's doubtful but I hope Shout remasters the video quality on this set. Sony did a really good job on the first 3 seasons so it is possible to do something to improve the video quality.

Wow, that is amazing. There were a handful of songs that couldn't be cleared from Mama's Family. That outraged some fans, but it was a minimal amount, so I'm okay with it; I am extremely grateful for the wonderful supreme box set Star Vista/Time Life did with that series.

And thank goodness for season 1 they were still able to clear Molly Parker's biggest hits, "Stop Junking Up America", and "The Broken Family Blues". :D

I wonder why they couldn't get the rights to Ease on Down the Road? Not that it matters to me but just curious because a little over a year before Tootie sang it on FOL, it was sung on FOL's parent show Diff'rent Strokes by an exchange student named Carmella, so that makes me wonder since it's being cut out on FOL, if Shout releases a complete series set of Diff'rent Strokes in the near future, would it possibly be cut there as well?

I don't think this is the problem song because StarVista WAS able to clear it for the recently released "Mama's Family" set. It was actually in a couple episodes of "MF".

My bet, it's "Ease on Down the Road".

After doing some research, "Ease on Down the Road" is sung by Della Reese in the "Sanford and Son" episode "Della, Della, Della". I'm not sure if it was cut from that episode on DVD or not but that doesn't really mean anything if it was because music laws are tougher now than they were a few years ago when that set was released.

Yup, I think it is most-likely "Ease On Down The Road" cause they mention 2 minor edits. The song was sung in 2 separate scenes in that episode so it must be that. Happy Graduation was only used once.

They send you an email with your tracking number. Then you copy and paste it and google it and it will give you all the details on where and when your package was shipped.

I never choose a shipping option. I always go with standard one which is free for big box sets or 5 dollars plus for regular dvds unless I have a coupon code…lol.

I think they didn't include it because ABC has the rights to it since it was on ABC and not NBC. So Shout couldn't get it in the complete series. Also it wasn't a very good reunion movie. Jo didn't even appear in it as Nancy opted to not appear in it.

I noticed also (from seeing pictures on EBay) that the Mister Ed release has six separate cases (one for each season) unlike the Bob Newhart release (three cases for all six seasons, and a fourth for the bonus disc) and the Barney Miller release (four cases for eight seasons, and one more for the two discs of the Fish spinoff).

It seems to be a crapshoot.

WKRP, Bilko, Kotter, and Mr. Ed have individual seasons in a slipcase.

Newhart, Jeffersons, AITF, and FoL have two seasons per case.

Of course, WKRP, Kotter, and Bilko are only 4 seasons long, while most of the rest of the shows I mentioned were 9 seasons or more. But then Bob Newhart and Mr. Ed were both six seasons, and handled differently.

Ad the cardboard case material is all over the place. Bilko and Ed have thinner cases, while WKRP and Newhart are thick.

I know the pain of importing. Until Amazon UK started shipping to the US themselves, I was locked into a limited, specific set of sellers whenever I wanted to pick up R2 DVDs, and their prices weren't always the cheapest.

I started watching the set last night. The transfer is just great. I just wish they had offered some kind of commentary, or blooper reel.

Mine came in the mail today…EEEEeeeeeeeeeeee….so excited. I wasn't at home when it arrived but was waiting for me when I got here! The set looks exactly like the Jeffersons set. Picture quality is pretty good.

The second scene omits her audition leaving the final note of the song as she is just finishing. So there you have it. If you have that episode on VHS, you should hang onto it. So I guess if Shout releases a complete series set of Diff'rent Strokes sometime in 2015, the season 7 episode Arnold's Songbird will also have Ease on Down the Road replaced with something else.

"Ease on Down the Road" is also in a season 4 episode of 227. I can't remember which episode but Alexandria sings it and she was only in season 4.

It'd be interesting to find out if the people who own these songs that can't be cleared just say "No, you can't use my song. Period." or if the price is just too outrageous. We may never know.

It's 22:13 on this DVD box set. Does anyone know if that's the actual runtime for this episode? It seems weird all the other episodes that season are almost 25 minutes and this one is a little over 22 minutes.

"Ease on Down the Road" is also in a season 4 episode of 227. I can't remember which episode but Alexandria sings it and she was only in season 4.

It's her very first appearance. She's so obnoxious to everyone throughout the episode, and then in the end she "saves" the Wiz show by singing some song as Dorothy (I can't remember what it is at the moment). I never did care for her.

i agree. Pippa should have been left off the cover. she was never a big part of the season. I think Shout Photoshopped her over Andy - pretty sure he was in the original photo.

i guess they wanted to show the diversity of the cast, so they included her.

I noticed the Season 3 episode "Jo's Cousin" still has the edited opening. Missing about a minute of the girls in the lounge. Wonder why this has been edited on all DVD releases. Netflix Canada has the full scene. Poor Tootie's one line in the episode got cut!

Absolutely, and No. 3 (1981-82) of Hart to Hart was another top-notch release, well worth the money! I was very much wanting to be out of the dry spell on that, and Shout! has definitely come through. No. 4 (1982-83) should be equally worth the money.

I know what Josh means; usually when I get a package in the mail, I can't even open the cardboard shipping box for days. It's a mixture of the satisfaction that it's arrived, along with the anticipation of opening it up and knowing it's something I love, that makes it fun to wait. :)

IMO, bonus features are pretty much pointless.

I mean, yeah, it's nice to see them there, and you might watch them once, and never bother again.

But the episodes... that's what counts.

I agree. Bonus features ARE way overrated. IMO, the best "bonus feature" about this set is the awesome packaging with it being all bright, shiny, and the box being so thick and durable. Thick and durable is always a good thing.

And yes, the episodes are what counts! And, it's awesome that only one episode had to be altered because of music rights crap.

I would have liked there to be commentary with the girls on at least 1 episode. Perhaps 'The New Girl'. No biggie though.

We now have all those weird episodes on the Over Our Heads set! The single most 80's sitcom set of ALL time. Plus Stacey Q and The Goonies brother and Cloons.

commentary would have been great on at least one ep from every season. usually the stars or creators have fun back stories or memories to share. My favourite commentaries are from the Roseanne DVD's, she gives great new insight on familiar eps.

She was sexy! But so was Boots St. Claire (imo) And I wonder if Shout Factory ever approached Lisa, Kim, Mindy and Nancy for a commentary session? If so, they either declined out of scheduling conflicts or just a general lack of desire to not relive something they've already done. I guess I don't blame them, but it would have been fun to hear.

Wow, I completely disagree. Bonus features---when done right---are a big incentive for buying a series set (or season sets). Just look at bonus features for the releases of Mama's Family or The Carol Burnett Show or Fraggle Rock, for example; you have over hours and hours---over 10 hours each---of cast and crew interviews, stories of the creation and execution of the series, backstage/behind-the-scenes tales, etc. Those are gold; or cast commentaries like with one of the Mr. Belvedere seasons. Sure I don't count "interactive menus" and "chapters" as bonus features (and I think it's ridiculous when releases do), but when the bonus features are well-done and very valuable with a set I definitely watch them numerous times.

Back to what I said about Taxi: the second- and third-season releases (1979-81) listed the same basic features that the first one did; the difference with those is that the misleading "Special Features" heading was omitted. The reason I say that is that I agree with your response about picture and audio formats being the most basic of features, which practically every disc has, IINM.

Although this is a forum about The Facts of Life, I'm hoping that the upcoming fourth-season (1982-83) release of Hart to Hart does not have CPT's 80s Coke Lady logo cut off from it like the Embassy logo in these fourth-season episodes of Facts apparently has in this full-series release.

Just wanted to know how many other fol fans are enjoying the dvd set i'm watching mine everyday it is a blast having all 9 seasons in great quality kudos to shout factory!

I'm loving it. I'm almost halfway through Season 2 and even though I have a long way to go, it's great. I watch it whenever I can.

i started at season 6 and am now almost to the end of season 9 i started there because i have seasons 1-5 already plus i iknow i'm in the minority but i love the later seasons a lot.:) :)
