I do not think that all men are pigs. I have a few male friends (although I'm not really close to them) and I don't hate all guys. It's just that the vast majority of the guys I've encountered during my time on this earth haven't been particularly upstanding members of the human race. You're right - women should expect more from men than the insensitive behaviour we're used to but - sorry to break it to ya ladies - there generally isn't more, so hoping for it is just a waste of your time. It seems to me that girls have been strapped with a lot of strangling guilt because they are assumed to be above that. The issue isn't how much a "normal" kid thinks about it, the issue is how they act on it. Demand it and you will get it, at least from any man worthy of keeping your company. (this may not hold true for men that you have no choice to be around, such as co-workers). I hope everyone doesn't take Mossopp's generally pessimisstic view on men to heart. Most of my friends are guys and I feel respected by every single one of them. True, some of them can be chauvanistic at times, but I always call them on it. No, I shouldn't have to call them on it, but someone has to.... The only way women are going to get more respect is if they demand it, not with a defeated attitude that it isn't possible in the first place! |
