View Full Version : What do you think of NY Post's top ten NYC sitcom list? TVFactFan 06-07-2014, 06:11 PM Stunned All in the Family was not on the list LOL http://nypost.com/2014/06/07/the-top-10-greatest-nyc-sitcoms-ever/ installLSC 06-07-2014, 09:35 PM Poor list. Not having "All In The Family" instantly disqualifies it. For that matter where are "The Goldbergs" (fifties version), "Car 54", "That Girl", "Odd Couple", "Barney Miller", "Night Court" and others? Those shows could have been only set in NYC. "Friends" would have been exactly the same if it was in LA or another big city. TVFactFan 06-07-2014, 09:38 PM Poor list. Who did they survey for it, if anyone. This may just be the writer's opinion of what the top 10 should be. I never have much faith in The Post anyways ; it's a half a rung above the National Inquirer. It's hard to take any top ten list like this seriously, when it omits one of the GREATEST SHOWS ever. (IMO anyways.) TVFactFan 06-07-2014, 10:33 PM Where did The Post get this so called top 10 list? Who did they survey for it, if anyone. I guess because none of the action is really set in Manhattan, which is what people traditionally think of as "NYC". Then again, The Cosby Show is on the list so who knows? Honeymooners was on the list and it was set in Brooklyn Dr. Jazz 06-08-2014, 01:10 AM I would have included "Taxi" on the list TVFactFan 06-08-2014, 01:30 AM I would have included "Taxi" on the list Taxi is on the list, #9 Dr. Jazz 06-08-2014, 01:46 AM Taxi is on the list, #9 My bad. I googled the NY Post list and the one I saw had "Diff'rent Strokes" as #9, but all the other shows on the current one were on there, just in different spots. I must have saw a list they did a few years ago because it mentions 30 Rock as still in production. king of comedy 06-08-2014, 06:34 AM It should have been longer. Maybe 25. principehomura 06-08-2014, 12:51 PM I would have put 'Mad About You'. It's the most 'newyork-ese' of all. Kasey 06-08-2014, 03:06 PM I would have put RHODA on there for sure. These lists tend to be written by people who grew up watching TV in the Seinfeld/Friends/SATC era and don't really have a deeper appreciation for much beyond that, Lucy and The Honeymooners being the exception.
