I'm not sure if this has been posted or not but just came across an article that said Nelson DeCloud, former cult leader, was found dead in his cell last month.

He was an evil, horrible creature. Can't say I feel sorry.

Serves him right. This bastard doesn't even qualify to be scientifically classified as a human. We can only hope that his time in prison served as his entry into a place much more sadistic than the misery he inflicted.

One less evil "thing" in the world.

We must offer our shoes. Also have someone forcibly cut our hair, in memory of the silent extra with the terrible wig that they were clearly cutting in said segment as well.

That segment really was one of the most memorable ones UM ever did. Tragic story for sure, but so much comedy gold in the re-enactment.

I definitely believe he's in for a HUGE roasting when he gets to the other side for his blasphemies, abuses and cruelty.

I wonder, though, was the victim's family still associated with the DeCloud group and did any of them ever apologize to her for choosing serving him over her very welfare? Also, did the group disband or is it still in existence [as the People's Church of Jim Jones infamy was a full 30 years after that mass murder]. ?

Good. People like Decloud just disgust me. I always loved Julie in the segment, wish I knew if she was doing well. Is it wacky to hope that her and the guy that helped her escape became a couple?? LOL
I have a special hatred in my heart reserved for cult leaders like Decloud. Evil men that all want power. No joke, my dad lived next door to Jim Jones when he was a little boy in Indiana. MESSED UP.

No, you're definitely not alone. I was very happy to hear that they got engaged. :D I haven't been able to find anymore information about her or Tim Santi, but I hope they are both doing well today.

There was an update filmed after Decloud was caught that showed them walking hand-in-hand and then RS announced that while Julie still had to testify, she had just become engaged to Tim. :)

Oh man, how did I miss that!?
Well anyway it's always good to hear a happy ending, especially since they both were such likable people.

I'm sure they are probably divorced and married to other people now.

I wish we could find out what happened to Julie's parents after the scum was arrested. They were the ones who joined the cult in the first place. You watch that segment and it's easy to forget she even had parents.

I wonder what the parents thought of Nelson leaving their 9 year old daughter alone shivering in a field for 8 hours and raping her year after year after year.

They probably needed endless hours of unbrainwashing. Julie said at the end of the segment that they need to know that Nelson isn't the messiah.

Yeah it's very interesting, obviously they were there until the end. It would have been hard for Julie to reunite with them as I'm sure they might have felt like Julie abandoned them in the first place.

Actually, I have often thought about her parents as well. I have read a few books based on cults and sadly many people in cults don't just snap out of it, even when their leader has been imprisoned or passed on. Some will continue on in the cult under a new leader from the group, or find a different cult all together, just somewhere where they feel like they can belong. It's very sad and I hope this is not what happened to Julies family.

Good riddance. This guy was a total scumbag.

Add me to the list of those hoping Julie was able to live a happy life eventually. And yes, I'd be curious to know if she and Tim are still together. They seemed pretty happy at the time, though I don't think the specific update about their engagement ever made it to Lifetime repeats.

Just came across this news and while I am not the type to wish death on anybody, I take comfort in knowing there no longer any chance of that man (incarcerated or not) being able to harm anybody else.

Totally agree with you there justins5256. DeCloud was a piece of trash.

PS - Who's that in your profile pic? She looks familiar.

Thanks for asking.

Its the pregnant lady cop Marge Gunderson (played by actress Frances McDormand) from the movie "Fargo."

I really liked the character a lot, especially her perseverance and use of deductive logic, and just plain good old common sense to solve crimes. Although I'm not a cop, in some ways, her personality reminds me of my own.

I didn't know if the avatar would be too esoteric, but went with it anyway.
