TV_on_the_Porch 03-22-2014, 04:44 PM What a rogues gallery of FAIL. I just typed up a long list of reactions that I managed to lose screwing around with the post formatting...but it's just as well since it mainly boiled down to no to about 90%.
I saw one of the two episodes of Roxie. I enjoy Andrea Martin in just about anything but Roxie was kind of like SCTV with all the satire boiled out, leaving only the juvenile silliness. Also saw Nothing Is Easy at least once: the kids were appealing but the show itself wasn't.
McGillicuddy 03-22-2014, 06:22 PM Normal, Ohio is on HULU. It lasted 13 episodes.

I've heard of about half of those, but the only ones that I can say for sure that I've seen episodes of are Uncle Buck and Baby Talk. Both based on movies oddly enough.
tlc38tlc38 03-22-2014, 08:52 PM I remember "Thunder Alley" and "Delta". I wish these shows would come to DVD.
Retro4Life 03-22-2014, 10:00 PM Heard of about half, don't believe I watched a single episode of any. This period was, for me, the beginning of the end of the sitcom.
Unfortunately I think it never recovered.
king of comedy 03-23-2014, 07:28 AM The only 2 I regreted were Going Places and Bagdad Cafe.
Yong Fang 04-11-2014, 04:43 AM Never seen any of them, which is why they were cancelled.
Cop Rock was panned before it go on the air. Police musical? Nope.
king of comedy 04-11-2014, 06:22 AM I saw a couple minutes of Cop Rock and switched channels. LOL!!
Torgo 04-11-2014, 09:38 AM I remember watching Free Spirit. It was a Bewitched rip-off. I mainly watched it because of Corinne Bohrer who I had crush on since seeing her on E/R. Alyson Hannigan played one of the kids.
I also remember watching and enjoying Thunder Alley.
MrCleveland 04-13-2014, 12:35 PM I remember "Thunder Alley" and "Delta". I wish these shows would come to DVD.
I agree...or at least have these flop shows on Netflix or Hulu.
McGillicuddy 04-13-2014, 02:12 PM I just finished watching That '80's Show, on Hulu. It lasted a half season. I think it flopped because it was too much a clone of That '70's Show.
MacLeaper 04-15-2014, 12:08 PM Wasn't it kinda supposed to be a clone of That '70s Show?
MacLeaper 04-15-2014, 12:10 PM Going Places (ABC) (1990 - 1991)
I LOVE Going Places! I don't think it was a flop- unfortunately, it just didn't last too long. I'd love to see this series again though.
And I remember Cop Rock too- that show wasn't all that bad. It was different- I'd be interested in seeing it again too.:)
MacLeaper 04-15-2014, 12:12 PM Thunder Alley also sounds familiar- and I know I've heard of Uncle Buck and Baby Talk. (I believe both are based on, respectively, the movies "Uncle Buck" and "Look Who's Talking".)
I've seen the Uncle Buck movie and I like that pretty well- I'd be interested in seeing the Uncle Buck TV series sometime. I'd probably enjoy checking out Baby Talk as well for that matter.
Yong Fang 04-16-2014, 10:49 AM Just One of the Boys starred Mickey Rooney, Dana Carvey and Nathan Lane. Three get performers and it was considered an awful show and lasted 12 episodes and out.
The only other one I knew about was Cop Rock, which I never saw, but was so panned by critics and just made fun of by everyone and the weirdness of the show, a singing cop show?, that it just failed, and Steven Bochco was never heard from again.
mets82 04-16-2014, 02:20 PM Jason, excellent job on this!!! Just found some info. on wikipedia about these shows. I vaguely remember any of them. I do remember Wild Oats being on FOX Sunday along with a couple of other new shows that all cancelled within a month. I think Married with Children was moved to Saturday.
TV_on_the_Porch 04-17-2014, 01:14 PM Just One of the Boys starred Mickey Rooney, Dana Carvey and Nathan Lane. Three get performers and it was considered an awful show and lasted 12 episodes and out.
That was the *other* One Of The Boys, the one that aired on NBC Saturday nights at 8:30 briefly in 1982. The 1989 One Of The Boys featured Robert Clohessy and aired on NBC Saturday nights at 8:30 briefly...in 1989.
MacLeaper 04-21-2014, 03:33 PM Me And Mrs. C (NBC) (1986 - 1987)
Whoa! They made a show about Fonzie and Richie's mom? That just doesn't sound right- lol.;)
MacLeaper 04-21-2014, 03:40 PM The only other one I knew about was Cop Rock, which I never saw, but was so panned by critics and just made fun of by everyone and the weirdness of the show, a singing cop show?, that it just failed, and Steven Bochco was never heard from again.
I'm guessing you're obviously being sarcastic here. Surely you're familiar with Doogie Howser, M.D., L.A. Law (I know they started before Cop Rock, but both of them outlived the show) and NYPD Blue. Bocho also was executive producer on Raising The Bar, among other things. He also worked on Hill Street Blues in the '80s, of course.:)
IllinoisTVFan 04-21-2014, 03:48 PM I watched Married People and Free Spirit and I think I may have seen the Ann Jillian Show. I didn't think Married People was all that bad, especially the young married couple. Free Spirit was actually kind of cute.

I stll have with me the TV Guide Fall Previews from 1992-2004 so thanks to those I remember a few of those.
mets82 07-25-2014, 02:58 PM It would be well worth it to see some these shows again to see how bad these shows really were.
cjs123 07-28-2014, 06:14 AM I recall hearing of some of those shows but he only two I remember seeing at all were Bagdad Cafe and Phenom. I vaguely recall liking Bagdad Cafe, and thinking the young actor who played the main character in Phenom was good, though I only recall part of one episode which took a dramatic turn.
treky 07-30-2014, 12:52 AM I remember ANNIE McGUIRE. It was another failed attempt at a sitcom with Mary Tyler Moore. I remember it was on CBS right before or after another short-lived sitcom that starred Dick Van Dyke.
I also remember BABY TALK. It was on ABC on Friday nights and was based on a movie called LOOK WHO'S TALKING which starred Kirstie Alley as the mother of a baby named Mikey whose thoughts were "voiced" by Bruce Willis. In the show Julia Duffy played a single mother and her babys thoughts were "voiced" by Tony Danza. I remember I saw just one scene once and that was enough; from what I read and heard about it I didn't miss anything.
Edward216 08-28-2014, 12:39 AM I remember hearing about most of them, but I didn't watch most of them. The ones I do remember watching are, Going Places, Uncle Buck, and Going To Extremes. I really liked Going Places and Going To Extremes so I was really disappointed when both of them were cancelled. But I thought Going Places lasted 2 seasons, but maybe I'm wrong it's been a long time? I know I watched Uncle Buck a few times but really don't remember that much about it so it couldn't have been that good.
Ed.
Edward216 08-28-2014, 01:44 AM Yeah, Going Places lasted only 1 season so I don't know why I thought it was two. I must be thinking of another show.
Ed.
comedyfreak 08-28-2014, 09:41 AM I remember:
Gabriel's Fire
Family Man
Uncle Buck
Free Spirit
Ann Jillian
Delta
Cop Rock
Thunder Alley
Baby Talk
Out of all of these I only watched Family Man, and Free Spirit.
Mace Dolex 09-03-2014, 12:32 AM I also remember BABY TALK. The idea of hearing a baby's thoughts was already stupid to begin with but you may not know but the original actress was Connie Selleca who dropped the show after a few episodes and was replaced by Julia Duffy who re-taped those episodes but she left the show midway to be replaced with Mary Page Keller, man I guess the producers weren't taking a hint that the show was D.O.A.
Interesting to note is that George Clooney made several appearances, .....oh yeah and Scott Baio too.

yea, it was a stupid idea for a TV show; not for a movie though. (it was loosely based on a movie with Kirstie Alley) I wonder what idiot thought that would be a good idea for a half-hour sitcom.
king of comedy 09-03-2014, 07:19 AM They made 3 movies and I'm glad I never saw them.
mets82 09-03-2014, 04:43 PM Obviously, it hasnt been a flop for E-Trade with those annoying talking baby ads.
treky 09-03-2014, 11:33 PM I though the first movie was good.
king of comedy 09-04-2014, 06:53 AM Obviously, it hasnt been a flop for E-Trade with those annoying talking baby ads. There was a recent commercial for State Farm. Not only did it had a talking baby but a talking mime. Like the baby said at the end of the commercial: Freaky!!
factsoflife 04-19-2015, 10:27 PM I've seen a number of these. some of them sucked, some of them were awesome.
70s show watcher 04-21-2015, 07:43 PM me and mrs c was a truly awful show it was so bad even the theme music stunk let alone the writing I kind of enjoyed sweet surrender though
clytie 05-03-2015, 04:32 PM I remember about half too. The only ones I watched was Phenom.
Edward216 05-29-2015, 12:21 AM I also remember watching Just One Of The Boys and liking it. It was with Nathan, oh shoot, now I can't remember his last name but he did the voice of Timon in The Lion King. And Mickey Rooney and Dana Carvey, who played Rooney's grandson. Carvey and the first guy were young college students and for some reason Rooney's character moves in with them. It was the first time Carvey was on TV that I knew of, this was even before he became a big deal on Saturday Night Live and I really didn't like him after that. I thought it was an OK show but obviously nobody else did.
Ed. P.S. Nathan Lane is the actor!
Ed.
KurtfromPitts 08-12-2015, 11:08 AM I remember seeing a few episodes of Going Places. Buy the way, for a long time I forgot the original title of Nothing Is Easy until a few years ago, but in a dream I had in the mid-'80s I looked at the TV listings from a local paper and saw the original title as being-get this-COUNTRY IS EASY(!)-whatever that was supposed to mean. This was when there was a syndicated sitcom called What A Country on local stations on weekends.
