The Evans kids were not starving! They may have ate a lot of oatmeal, yams, collard greens, etc., but they never went hungry! :lol:

It's somewhat surprising in retrospect that Michael or Thelma wouldn't have objected to 'meals' such as these on the grounds of skyrocketing obesity and diabetes among inner city folks - or did these stats not exist in the 1970's?
I seriously doubt that anyone with any kind of nutritional knowledge would have consider that a healthy, well-balanced meal even back then, though. :rolleyes:

Pretty much, it was invented in 1967. I suspect it was so popular at the Evan's household because (at the time) it was cheap food.
