I'd like them to bring back the comedies they canceled Back In The Game and Welcome To The Family the deserved longer runs.

George Lopez (It can have a fresh premise since the kids are adults and out of the house now)

Ironside 2.0(NBC canned it too soon)

Melrose Place 2.0(I think CW should have given it another shot.)

Moesha(too late now but I would have brought it back 10 years ago to finish up the cliffhanger storyline)

The Patty Duke Show (It was in talks to relaunch after the reunion movie according to some sources)

A modern day "Julia" Starring Dihann Carroll would have been nice as well.

When "Early Edition" went off the air, I was one of the fans rooting and writing for a 5th. season! I'd still love to see a reunion movie if the people involved would do it. Right now, I'll settle for finally seeing Seasons 3 and 4 on DVD.

The cancellation of this series was the moment that Commercial TV had, IMO "Jumped the shark". I didn't even know it was cancelled because the TV Listings still had EE on its schedule three weeks after I tuned to CBS to watch EE and wound up seeing a Cheesy Game Show Instead. :angryfire From that point on I concentrated on watching The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and The Learning Channel, since they still had some decent programs to watch. Alas, that was not to be, these channels jumped on the "Reality Show" bandwagon, and the number of commercials rose to ludicrous levels.

Seven years ago yesterday was my seventh anniversary of "Cutting the Cord". Among the DVDs I own is Early Edition. The first two seasons a official releases, I procured seasons three and four from one of those "Trading Sites". (That's e-bay, ioffer.com and sell.com for those of you in Rio Linda)! :D

They should re-spinoff JAG from NCIS with the same premise but new characters. Enough time has passed!

My Name Is Earl
SWAT
Only if it's a sequel based on the TV series, and not the remake movie.

I'd watch a Starsky & Hutch TV reunion movie starring the original cast.

I have most all of Seasons 3 and 4 (as well as Seasons 1 and 2) taped on VHS from some of the original airings and/or syndicated reruns. And of course I have Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD since that got officially released. I'd still love to have an official DVD release for Seasons 3 and 4 though.
"Early Edition" was really the last show that I regularly followed on network television. After that show ended, I really quit watching much of anything on network TV- it's pretty rare that I watch any show on there now.

I would think that really bringing an old TV show back for new episodes would be bad for business.

Sometimes it works and sometimes is doesn't.

Yeah- it's been done with Hunter.
And it's worked well for some recent animated shows (The Family Guy, Futurama, etc.) [I don't care for any of those kind of animated shows- I wish they'd stayed dead, honestly- but those are examples in any case.]

Scripted shows that I do not like/need to bring back for new episodes include:

* Any scripted TV show that already had a proper send-off/special "series finale" episode.
* Any long-running animated "floating timeline" show.
* Any series that consists entirely of self-contained/stand-alone episodes and no continuing story arcs, because their formula will get stale.

So, no room for reunion specials then?

Actually, reunion specials are fine, but full-on revivals as first-run series... can't do it. Bad for business. ohno:

Okay then- and while I would generally agree it doesn't always work very well, I think there are a few exceptions. For instance, in 1988, there was a revived version of Mission: Impossible (still starring Peter Graves as Jim Phelps)- I've seen both the original '60s show and the '80s version and I think both are great shows. (In fact, since I grew up watching the '80s version, I tend to like that one even better than the original. But both are great.):)

I have the original version of MI and plan to get the 1988 version this April 14. :D

The phrase: "A TV show can go out and end its original run and leave the fans wanting more."

"Leave them wanting more"? What is that supposed to mean? How can they "want more" if the show got its proper send-off with all story arcs / loose ends having been resolved? "Series Finale" means the TV show is gone from new episodes permanently; they're not gonna be making any more new episodes.

This wont be the first time I bought a remade version of a classic show, a few years ago I picked up all three versions of The Twilight Zone. (Yes I know, the 1980s and 2000s versions weren't as good as the original). On the other hand they are still fun to watch).

BTW I got the remakes for  FREE :mango: (Either Deep Discount or Amazon had a BOGO Sale, and all three TZs were on the list. :D

I think The Twilight Zone is cool in any format.:)

And for RetroGuy2000- I definitely love MacGyver!:)
There have been talks of a movie, by the way- hopefully it will still star Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver! (otherwise, I will be very disappointed and not nearly as interested in it. But I imagine I'll still wind up watching it at some point as a loyal fan.)
