Spears As Dazzler??

Wild rumor of the day - pop diva Britney Spears rumored to be up to play the superhero (Who can create light using her mutant abilities) in an adaptation of the Marvel comic.

Well, I personally can't picture Spears as a superhero, that's one.
Two, Marvel comics are for reading...lol
Three, Spears should do nothing else but sing.

Well, I have no idea who The Dazzler is cos I don't read Marvel comics. But since super-hero chicks often wear revealing costumes, I can think of worse things for Britney to do than play a super-hero chick!
As long as she doesn't do that 'Lost Boys' sequel I'll be happy!

For the unititated among you:

Dazzler is a former member of the X-Men. Her mutant ability is to make little dazzling light burts that can occassionally hurt people. So in that repect she is kind of like Jubilee. (another former X-Man and former Wolvie sidekick.)

However, what makes Dazzler really weak is that she only has the ability to create light by absorbing sound waves. So she has to have a source of sound, preferably music, in order to use her power. For this reason, Dazzler (real name Alison Blaire) is a professional singer, and works her light show into her act. (which I never really understood why the audience didn't notice that the light was being produced by Alison and therefore try to kill her, since we all know everyone hates muties ;) )

She married Longshot (another IMHO very stupid former X-Man, who was from the Mojoverse (not even gonna try to explain that!)and who's incredibly pathetic mutant ability was good luck.) Longshot and Dazzler live in the Mojoverse, and Dazzler hasn't been used in an X-Men storyline since the 80s, if my memory serves. However, she also was friends with members of the Avengers, and even turned down membership in them, so I'm sure she'll resurface in the Marvel universe someday.

On a side note, I actually own Dazzler's first comic book appearence, even though I don't like her character. I got it purely for investment value, since first appearances are generally worth more.

As for my opinion of Britney portraying Dazzler. Well, since I don't like Dazzler much to begin with, I don't have much of a problem with it. Actually, given that Dazzler is actually a singer and a show business person, Britney may not be a bad choice (though I have never seen her act). As long as she is in her own movie and not X-Men 2, then I will not have a problem with it. And even though I don't like Dazzler or Britney, my loyalty to and childhood love of the X-Men would probably mean that I would see the movie, even if only at the second-run theatre.

Additionally, the movie could increase the value of my Dazzler comics, which I could sell for a tidy profit! :D
