Bought this as a blind buy because I love watching 60's sitcoms.

The show is odd upon watching the first 12 episodes of season 1. The humor is dry and the interaction between the 2 leads is stiff.

In my opinion the show really began to hit its stride with the next episode, "Blood is Thicker". and after that, "R# For a Martian". The first season is strong as the chemistry between the leads takes off as the characters get to know each other, beyond those first 12 episodes.

I own all 3 seasons but I have yet to watch a single episode. I may add it to my to-do list for next week.

I watched that episode blood is thicker than water last night about the visiting cousin from a small town. That was a decent ep.

The chemistry between Ray & Bill characters seemed forced and going through the motions. Bill Bixby does tend to chew the scenery at times.

I just have to warm up to this show. This was one show I forgot about. It's not as popular or well-known as Bewitched, Jeannie or The Munsters which are in constant reruns for decades.

I own all 3 seasons on DVD too without watching a single episode before I bought it

The key to this show is Pamela Britton, in my opinion. She brought such a liveliness to her character Lorelei that rubbed off on the cast. The friction between Det. Brennan and Martin becomes tiresome, but with her in the mix, just the right touch is added to keep things interesting.

I can relate to Tim's drooling over some of the young women who appear in the storylines as one-shot characters, but I wish that Lorelei's female relatives would have been the main love interests -- instead of their almost immediate disappearances.

I love Pamela Britton's character. Surprisingly she has good chemistry with the 2 leads. They seem to adore & tolerate her too.

Speaking of relatives. Does the Mrs. Brown's daughter, Angela, appear in more eps besides 2 that I've seen

No, aside from the pilot and then 2 other episodes, The Matchmakers and Man or Amoeba, the character does not appear again, having been dropped without explanation.

That figures. Only in TV land
I was watching the pilot commentary on the Australian release that I bought of season 1 and the poor woman couldn't barely remember the episode she was in. Was everyone from the show dead except her.... The Australian commentator with Ann was basically coaching her along and knew a great deal about the show too.

It was one of those things with the interview, it was a whirlwind time for a young actress.
Her memories were more about Bill Bixby who was a ever supportive actor and very kind hearted.
The Angela Brown character was a last minute add on from the unaired pilot where the intention was to have a down stairs love interest/tension with the Tim O'Hara character.
The network felt it was a way too sexually charged situation so they changed to the younger daughter.
Which felt more tacked on so she was dropped after the fifth episode.

Very tacked on. I wished they had some sort of explanation for whatever happened to her like Mrs. Brown shipping her off to Boarding school or relatives.

Yes I noticed this. She was fond of Bill Bixby who seemed like a likeable actor and none of this Mr. Hollywood crap.

I noticed Miss Marlo Thomas herself made an appearance & a certain young actor named Tom Skeritt. Marlo's face looks different with her old nose & minus the fake eyelashes but I recognized her wig-free flip hairdo. One of the decent episodes of My Favorite Martian. So far I'm warming up to Bill Bixby. He tends to ham it up and realizes he ain't performing Shakespeare.

I'm loving the show now LOL it did get better as the season progressed. Walston & Bixby are more comfortable in their roles and Mrs. Brown is a regular on the show and getting some storylines too.
I'm liking the addition of the suspicious Detective Brennan who also is a rival with Martin for Mrs. Brown's heart. The actor I recall had a recurring role in Dennis The Menace and guest starred on a early Bewitched episode.

You can also see Marlo with her original nose on Dobie Gillis, and Alan Hewitt appears sans toupee on Perry Mason. Alan also did a very weird-looking alien character on Lost in Space, where all you'll recognize is his voice -- if I remember correctly.

One of Ray Walston's most memorable TV appearances was as the manager of a Greek wrestler -- that was on Little House on the Prairie (unless I'm getting it mixed up with something done on Bonanza!). Very lively.

 Alan Hewitt I've seen bald in that bewitched episode but I applaud his choice of a toupee it looks realistic on him.

I haven't ran across Miss Marlo's old nose yet on my Dobie DVD set. She must've appeared somewhere in the final season.

Ray Walson I remember played a judge(?) on Picket Fences and played a scientist in a Superboy first season episode.

Anyone else have a problem with season 2 DVD set. Some episodes are jittery plus the visual quality is not as clear as the first season set. There were some edited episodes too.

Hiya
My season 2 was single-sided discs from Australia. The episode "We Love You Miss Pringle" was the worst in terms of shakiness. A few other episodes were jittery too but that one was horrible. The production company should've put a warning before it started or did something about it. I read the U.S. DVDs were double-sided and it now looks like both versions have the same issues

According to IMDb, Ms. Thomas appeared in a Season 1 episode of Dobie (episode 17), billed as "Margaret Thomas" (!):

I have the season 2 DVD set from Rhino. There are no edited episodes, however, 4 episodes are sped up/time compressed. All 4 episodes are located on the first side of disc 1.

I haven't noticed jittery video in any of the episodes, but I haven't seen all the episodes yet. So far, I have no complaints about the video quality.

I'm almost done watching season 3 so it's been awhile since I seen the 2nd season but there's an episode with Tim's old teacher & that episode was jittery in certain scenes & hard to ignore. I'm sure there was more on my Aussie 2nd season set but that one stood out months later.

I have season 3 on VHS from Rhino, there are 8 tapes with 4 episodes on each tape. This set must be very rare, I discovered it on ebay a while back so I purchased it, since then I haven't seen another set advertised anywhere.

Almost done watching season 3. It was a bumpy ride. Never liked the series at first but it grew on you. I watched the Andromeda episode and the episode where Martin is inside a puppy. I have to say the episode with the little martian kid would've made a great final episode. It would've left viewers forever wondering the mayhem Tim & Martin would have raising that one-antenna little martian.

I found the Season 3 8 tape box set available on Amazon. Looks like a real nice one to have, the box case itself that holds the tapes is really neat looking. One seller has one available that's in Like New condition, has a great description of what it is! You got to type in "My Favorite Martian TV Box Set VHS" in order to find it.

I had not seen “My Favorite Martian” in years. What a treat it was to see the show recently. Ray Walston, Bill Bixby and Pamela Britton were all terrific on the series. It first aired the same year that President Kennedy was assassinated. That brings back memories from childhood in the early 1960s.

I bet that Marlo Thomas wishes every copy of that pre-rhinoplasty photograph of her no longer existed! When my parents visited some relatives in California during the late 1940s, they happened to attend Sunday Mass at the Los Angeles church which many actors attended. Loretta Young, Louis Jourdan and Danny Thomas and his wife and children were there, including a very young Marlo Thomas, still wearing her First Holy Communion dress.

Apparently, the future “That Girl” had a cute button nose in those days. Along with Tom Jones, Jennifer Grey, Dean Martin, Lee Majors and Lisa Hartman, Ms. Thomas looks great after her plastic surgery.

MFM was a show I never watched much through the years and am just now getting to see them. Sort of odd style but it's growing on me.

Also interesting to see Bill Bixby, who I'm much more familiar with from The Courtship Of Eddie's Father and, of course, The Incredible Hulk.

Just what I'm doing. I'd never seen it, but it's kinda growing on me. Walston is superb in it.

I only knew Bixby from Courtship...

I'm old, so I remember watching My Favorite Martian on Sunday nights, it came on before Ed Sullivan and after Lassie. ...Martian is one of my favorite shows, I'm currently watching it from DVDs every Sunday with breakfast. Interesting though how Bixby seemed to have lost all that My Favorite Martian energy he had when he did Courtship of Eddie... and also the Hulk. He seemed very low key and almost whispered his way thru both those shows. But in Martian he speaks very fast and loud and is constantly in a state of high energy. Maybe Bixby just wore himself to a frazzle by the time the late '60's and early '70's arrived for Eddie's Father. From high energy to very very mellow, I'd like to know was this a real life change in Bixby's personality or did he purposely play Eddie's Father and Hulk as low energy 1/2 dead individuals?

I occasionally watched the show as a kid. But, never really a big fan of it. Watched S2 E7 My Uncle the Folk Singer. A treat to see the beautiful Pat Priest. Without her the episode would be a near time waster. The show has a huge problem that Bill Bixby and Ray Walston even with witty writing just aren't funny.

At least, over on LITB, Mr. Hewitt portrayed a not-so-nasty Mayfield Police Lieutenant. In fact. I’m surprised that Ward Cleaver did not contact Mr. Hewitt’s character after the peripatetic Mr. Jeff clipped one of Ward’s suits.

Would of clicked better with 2 different main actors cast. I was fantasy thinking Alan Hale Jr - Bob Denver, Don Knotts - Tom Lester. Actors with actual comedic talent. But, I can't believe the MFM big wigs thought wow Bill Bixby and Ray Walston are hilarious. The writing is good.

Ray Walston was great, no one could have done better as Uncle Martin. Tim O'Hara overacted with a lot of shouting. His acting was much stronger on The Courtship of Eddie's Father.

I did appreciate how Walston took his character on MFM well after it ended. Didn’t he do a TV ad (maybe for a cellphone co.?) around late 1990s as Uncle Martin?

I always like how some actors remember how they really got big-time, and carry it decades later. Best example would be Dawn Wells of Gilligan’s Island, who of course had a smart husband/lawyer (ISTR) who made her profitable from GI royalties.
