View Full Version : Overrated Sitcoms DJM77 07-09-2001, 09:01 PM What are the most overrated sitcoms of all time? Ian 07-09-2001, 09:54 PM "Facts of Life" on this message board anyway. You would have thought the "obsession" would have faded a bit, but many of the people who where obsessed with it when I joined in November still are to this day. FOL "was" a good show but, IMO, it's getting boring. TV Guy 07-10-2001, 05:40 PM I would say "Taxi" and "WKRP in Cincinnati". Both got more than their share of critical acclaim, but I could never get into either one -- the characters just weren't that appealing to me. dawsongirl 07-10-2001, 11:03 PM Hit me all you want, but Seinfeld was soooo overrated!! EKWROCKS 07-11-2001, 12:38 AM I still like the facts of life, but yeah here on these boards it is a bit overspoken!! I disagree with Sinfeld, I really laughed hard at that show, it was great!! I might shock people but I'm going to say friends!! recently that show is getting on my nerves!! Titania 07-13-2001, 11:00 AM I have to defend WKRP (that was a GREAT show) And say that Facts of Life is most certainly overrated. Davester713 07-13-2001, 01:55 PM Cheers was an awesome show! Three's Company is WAY overrated, as is Diff'rent Strokes. Rob 07-13-2001, 03:01 PM I don't think many people are going to agree with me, but I think that Home Improvement was just an average show. ------------------ James 07-15-2001, 02:02 AM Originally posted by DJM77: What are the most overrated sitcoms of all time? Probably "Cheers" because it got all of the media hype when "The Wonder Years" also got cancelled in 1993. I mean, I really loved "The Wonder Years" and the day I found out it was cancelled was for me one of the worst days of my life. It's a crying shame television shows made today cannot be like "The Wonder Years." "Cheers", on the other hand, I can do without. I just never found it worth thirty minutes of my time. factsoflife 07-17-2001, 10:16 PM i am sorry but i just never could understand why people liked THE WONDER YEARS so much, it was so boring! The same with: Frasier, Cheers, Northern Exspouser and love and war. ------------------ " high school is a battelfield, for the heart."- Angelea, My so-called life. " Sometimes i wish i had like a giant remote control for my life, nah knowing me i'd probrally loose it and get stuck on cheerleader day in the cafeteria." = Angelea, My so-called life. The same with: Frasier, Cheers, Northern Exspouser and love and war. "The Wonder Years" is IMHO one of the greatest shows ever because it looks back on what was twenty years before the episodes were shot (IOW, the show's scope was the years 1968 to 1973 and the show was made from 1988 until 1993). The music from TWY's "scope" was far more interesting compared to that from 1988-93 (and today's for that matter!). A young child experiencing the events (the Vietnam War, for instance) of the time, while all the while music from the same era played in the background made the show worth watching. The music and the events made The Wonder Years what I thought was the greatest show ever made. Other shows to "look back" include "The Waltons" (perhaps the only other drama--it's starting to rival "The Wonder Years" as my favorite show), "Happy Days," and "Laverne & Shirley." Chocoholic 09-07-2001, 10:30 PM I think Friends, Frasier, Will & Grace, The Golden Girls, and seinfeld are very over-rated. I have never found any of them funny. angel676 09-08-2001, 05:57 PM I think Three's Company and The Brady Bunch is overrated. James 09-09-2001, 09:05 PM Originally posted by angel676: I think Three's Company and The Brady Bunch is overrated. I totally agree with you in regards to "Three's Company," but I find "The Brady Bunch" worth the hype. Sean Snow 09-10-2001, 03:38 PM Originally posted by angel676: The Brady Bunch is overrated. It sure is! And "The Facts of Life" zack 09-10-2001, 06:18 PM Friends Frasier Seinfeld Mad About You That 70's Show Titus Futurama Andy Griffith Show Ellen Bluestone 09-11-2001, 02:09 PM The Simpsons Seinfeld The Wonder Years most of the recent ones. The Facts of Life is one of my three favorites, but it is a little overrated here. Not anywhere else, though. angel676 09-14-2001, 04:23 AM Originally posted by Sean Snow: It sure is! And "The Facts of Life" Since I'm a fan of Facts of Life, I have to disagree. But the message board for FOL is a little overrated, since that board has the most posts. a NaNcY FaNaTiC 09-14-2001, 10:29 PM Prolly Seinfeld & Friends Sal 09-15-2001, 01:16 PM MASH All In The Family Cheers Taxi WKRP The Wonder Years (ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!) Seinfeld Home Improvement Murphy Brown Cybill (Moonlighting was a lot funnier!) Will & Grace Everybody Loves Raymond (but I don't!) and finally...PRIME's Sunday afternoon lineup! Sitcomwriter 09-18-2001, 01:46 PM The Brady Bunch is VERY overrated.I saw The Brady Brides last week and that show is MUCH better.I think N@N should get that show but FOX Family has the rights to it. Jimbo 09-19-2001, 07:14 PM Dawsongirl: I agree with you 100%! I never understood why this show was so popular - it was basically 30 minutes of whining every week. I recently watched the famous "Soup Nazi" episode: "No soup for you!" That's funny? |
