"666 Park Avenue"---if this show had a different name I think it could've went at least one more season. The name actually killed this show because people were afraid to watch it.

"Cougar Town" is a victim of its time. When the show came out, the term "cougar" was vey popular.

The Good Wife is the most obvious contender here for me.

"Terriers" was the poster child for this. I had no idea what the show was about from the title or the promo materials that featured a dog. Then after it was cancelled I found it on Netflix and loved the show. Nobody could have known it was a gritty detective show with great story arcs from the information the network put out.

Trophy Wife is a much smarter and more thoughtful show than its shallow title would suggest, based on the pilot anyway.

New Girl's title reflects the show's early episodes when it was all about Zooey, but it doesn't do a good job of capturing the great ensemble comedy its become.

The Cosby Show ok now i think it should have been called The Huxtable Family show , their is no guy named cosby an any of the 8 seasons lol

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air this was not smart title name is should have been called Will and the banks of bel air.

Martin why would martin lawrence be selfish and not include the tisha campbell character on his title what about the martin and gina show.

Sister Sister should have been called the tia and tamera show

Good Times not a good title name how about the evans and their good and bad times

Full House not a very popular name for a popular sitcom of the 90's how about the full house of the tanners and the friends.

Another example would be Family Guy.

In that case every show with the lead actor's name in the title should've been changed including:

The Taylor Family Show (Andy Griffith)
The Carmichael Family Show (Lucille Ball)
The Petrie Family Show (Dick Van Dyke)
The Stone Family Show (Donna Reed)
The Lane Family Show (Patty Duke)
The Martin Family Show (Doris Day)

Etc..........

These are just as ridiculous sounding as The Huxtable Family Show.

In the case of shows that are named after their lead stars, there's a good reason for that- usually, it's to capitalize on the fame of the star. For instance, I doubt nearly as many people would be interested in "The Mike Henry Show" if they didn't know that it starred Michael J. Fox. Honestly, that's the only reason I'm interested in seeing this show at some point. Thus the name, "The Michael J. Fox Show".
It doesn't bother me with those kinds of show titles, but I can see how someone might get confused if they weren't familiar with the show.

Family Ties and Family Matters are both bad names lets say that Family Ties was changed to The Michael and the Keaten family show or Family Matters was changed to The Winslow and Steve Urkel show it sounds a lot better.

You're certainly welcome to your opinion, but I would have to disagree. Now, true- many people colloquially probably referred to "Family Matters" as "Urkel" anyway- but that just exacerbates the problem to call the show that. That would have only alienated the cast even further, as JoMarie Payton eventually left the show as it continued to stray more and more away from being centered on her character and her family and more and more about Steve Urkel and his antics.
I think both "Family Ties" and "Family Matters" are great titles because they emphasize the main focus of both shows in a creative manner that wraps everything up so well. Family Matters can refer not only to matters and situations that involve the family- there's also the simple message that family matters- and it does! Family is quite important. (That last bit is a paraphrase of what I've read directly from the creators of the show in an interview they did with Home Life Magazine some years ago.
With "Family Ties"- I can't think of a better name that encapsulates what that show was about. The Keatons were definitely a very close knit family. And like the old saying about "the family ties that bind" (and as Erma Bombeck would add, "and gag")- this is certainly true as the demands of family loyalty and love of family strained against the differing values of the parents and children, with Steve and Elyse both holding liberal values and Alex certainly holding conservative values [and generally I'd say Andy would join him, though at his age on the show, he probably didn't really care too much about politics, but he likes Alex's conservative values because he loves his brother and wants to be like him. Jennifer probably generally holds more liberal views and values and Mallory probably generally has more independent values. And the neat thing is that I think all of them have a little bit of both conservative and liberal values because all of them learn a little from each other.]
However, "Family Ties" holds the show together and the family together as the Keatons realized that their family is more important than their different values. They showed a good example of how to lovingly hold differences of opinions and beliefs while still loving everyone in the family and learning to compromise sometimes on things. What a great picture for America, if Americans could see the USA as a big family that has different opinions, beliefs and values- and despite those differences, must still learn to love all its members!
(Of course, we need to love everyone all over the world because God loves everyone and He commands us to do the same. And if we claim to be a follower of Jesus, then we better be careful to obey that command because the world will know we are Christians by our love. John 13:34-35)
As for "The Facts of Life", I think that title is good too. I don't think there is a need to emphasize that it's about girls learning the facts of life in the title- that would only detract from the appeal of the show and turn off male viewership. (To be fair, there are some shows that are pretty straight forward in stating what they're about with gender terms- like "The Golden Girls", but even so- that show does well with male viewership too, in spite of the fact that it's probably not the intended audience. That just goes to show that good comedy doesn't have gender boundaries.)
But "The Facts of Life" are the same for boys and girls. Yes, obviously there are physical differences that are particular for just girls and for just boys. But The Facts of Life that govern that, that are set down in nature by God- those are the same for boys and girls and that capitulates not only the biological facts, but also sociological and developmental facts regarding growing up in general and handling new situations and responsibilities. I think the title "The Facts of Life" does a good job of keeping it non-gender specific and probably helps draw in male viewership despite the fact that the show's cast is mainly girls and the shows plots are mainly about their lives.
In any case, all three shows are great and I think they can be enjoyed by either gender equally well. And the titles for each are perfect-no change is necessary.
