Regulus 09-16-2013, 09:34 AM Right now the only way to watch this show is to get a copy from ioffer.com or sell.com. If an official version came out I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Adamantium 09-16-2013, 06:51 PM I've never seen the show before (except for the first episode on tape YEARS ago, when I was a kid) so absolutely! I would love to own this show on DVD.
Vahan 09-16-2013, 08:27 PM I've seen the pilot with David White (Larry Tate from Bewitched) as J. Jonah Jameson.
I could never figure out why he never reprised his role in the actual show. He perfectly looked the part.
Dave_L 09-17-2013, 08:47 AM I'd definitely buy the complete series if released. I'm surprised it hasn't happened by now. Not as successful as The Incredible Hulk, but I think it was good for it's time. It would be fun to see it again.
I agree that David White was great as Jameson and it's too bad he only did the pilot. But I think his replacement, Robert F. Simon, did a good job too. (And his casting even maintained the Bewitched connection since Simon had appeared on Bewitched occasionally.)
robyrob 09-17-2013, 10:35 AM man, I loved watching the show as a kid - I couldn't WAIT for next week's episode, I don't know how well it holds up, but I'd love to see it again.
dakert 09-17-2013, 01:47 PM I am patiently waiting for this to officially become available on DVD. I got a copy from ioffer but it was grainy and washed out.
Tubehead 09-22-2013, 11:28 AM I usual watch it on you tube not the full episodes I enjoy it a lot I hope if the amazing spider-man 2 comes out they might reassess it if it doesn't have many episodes then I hope they would relapsed it in complete series or volumes I also thought the climbing in the tv show was awesome but when spider-man swings with his web you can tell its a rope
MacLeaper 09-24-2013, 06:13 PM I presume you mean the US live action 1970s Spider-Man show (as opposed to the Japanese live action 1970s Spider-Man show- if you want to see that one, just check out Marvel.com- they have all the episodes posted!:) )
As to the US show- yes, I saw some of this as a kid and I'd love to have the whole series on an official DVD release- I love watching it! Nicholas Hammond made a great Peter Parker/Spider-Man (although it was Fred Waugh in the Spidey suit doing the action stunts majority of the time.)
It was a great show with a great Spider-Man costume and cool special effects. But then, I love these late '70s scifi shows, and particularly live action superhero shows from Marvel and DC Comics.:)
TimOhara123 10-08-2013, 12:19 AM I have it and will be watching it sometime in 2014

Speaking of 70s Spiderman incarnations, I also remember the Electric Company skits...

MacLeaper 10-09-2013, 08:20 PM Yep- The Electric Company is classic! I'm definitely a fan of that and Spider-Man's appearances on the show. Also worth nothing- The Blue Beetle showed up in live action on the show! (And interacted with Spidey!) And yes- I mean, the DC Comics character Blue Beetle (though at the time he was still owned by Charlton Comics).:)

Prays this gets a 2014 DVD release. MPI/Shout/Mills Creek someone get this show out of the vaults and get them remastered!!!!!!
So many opportunities to release this forgotten series over the years with the Spiderman movies.....
MacLeaper 12-17-2013, 11:23 AM Definitely. Even the live action '70s Japanese Spider-Man TV show came to DVD. (And at least some Spidey skits from The Electric Company when that series got some "Best Of" DVD releases.)
This is the only live action version of Spider-Man still not on DVD. It seems like something perfect for Shout! Factory to release.:)

The show is pure 70's fabulousness and the disco theme song is a hoot.
Shout is missing the boat on this one imo.
I wonder if Nicholas Hammond would love to see this on DVD as well ;)
bencasey 01-02-2014, 03:34 AM No, transferred them all from VHS. Good enough for me.
Torgo 03-05-2014, 08:18 PM Yes. Yes I would.
MacLeaper 03-06-2014, 01:35 PM Almost all episodes of "The Amazing Spider-Man" (title shortened to simply "Spider-Man" in the second season) have been released to VHS but for one. Of course, all those video tapes are long out of print and can go for some fairly expensive prices on the secondary market.
But I'd love to see a complete series DVD release if Marvel and CBS/Paramount would ever get around to it. Most of the cast is still alive and well and it would be great to see interviews with them and Stan Lee as extras. If Paramount won't do it, I really wish Shout! Factory would consider it- they released both 1979 Captain America TV-movies to DVD a while back- it seems like this would be a fitting release for them too.

I'd love an audio commentary with cast, or even if just Hammond.
If Stan Lee did do an interview, I don't think he'd have much positive to say, I read/heard somewhere that he disliked the series and thought of it as juvenile.

Yes, I have read this as well. Still, sometimes time gives one a different perspective. Even if he does have some negative criticism, I'd still like to hear Stan Lee's insights on the show. (For comparison, just check out the commentaries on "Superboy" Season 1 with Ilya Salkind and John Haymes Newton- Salkind is trying to take it seriously and talk about the show respectfully and Newton is just goofing off and ragging on the show since it was pretty low budget, especially in the first season, and I can see how some might find it pretty laughable. I still love it regardless.):)
