I stated in another post that these two fathers had a lot in common. Neither one put up with any bull from their kids. Both had tempers. Both were known to take off their belts. I think I would have minded them if I was their kid, LOL.
Which would you be most afraid of? For me it's about equal. You could potentially get a whipping from either one if you stepped out of line too far. I never saw James Evans slap his kids, but he might have been capable of it. Still, James might have been a little stricter. It seems like J.J., Thelma, and Michael were more afraid of James than Katie, Julie, and Samantha were of the Chief. At times, all three daughters told the Chief off. I never recall the Evans kids doing that, although Michael stood up for his beliefs even against James.
Both were really good fathers, even while being so old-fashioned and hard-nosed. They loved their kids more than anything. Both worked hard and wanted their kids to have things they didn't have.
