Which cast member of SNL(Saturday Night Live) should get their own sitcom? It could be someone past or present. I think most SNL'ers have great potential as sitcom stars. Just look at the success of David Spade.
It could also be a former sitcom star that you wish would get another crack at a show. For example, Danny Devito, Shelly Long, Steve Webber etc, etc...

Shelley Long has already gotten two more shots at a sitcom (anyone remember "Good Advice" or "Kelly Kelly"), and Steven Weber had that horrible "Weber Show" last year, so I vote against them. Give someone else a turn.

I really love Mike Meyers...but he's so busy making great movies that he probably never would commit to a tv show. I like Adam Sandler too...but same thing, making movies.

I would have to say it is me who should have his own sitcom. I pitched 3 pilots this year, but no sales. Check out my on-line journal and find out more about me at:

I miss Seinfeld, but don't think that'll ever happen. A few former sitcom actors I'd like to see in new shows are Michael Gross, Sherman Helmsley, John Ritter, and Tom Hanks lol.

I've always wanted to see Gilbert Godfrey in a regular role on a sitcom.

I wish John Ritter would come back with a new show.

I wish they'd give Margaret Cho another chance. I was sooo mad when the took All American Girl off the air. Even though I was only like 12 or 13. That show was soooo funny.

I have a feeling Michael Keaton will be getting his own show soon.
I think his upcoming guest role on Frasier is a test to see if Television audiences think he's still got it.
If it goes well, I'll bet it won't be long before they're developing a show for him.

Oh, I agree with DJM77. Gilbert Gottfried deserves his own show.

I would like to see Bonnie Franklin in another sitcom. I still to this day miss her and it's too bad that she did not get another series after One Day At A Time.

Howard Hessman
Dan Aykroyd and John Goodman on the same show.

I'd love to see John Ratzenberger(Cliff from Cheers) get another shot at a sitcom. He was supposed to have a sitcom on Fox, but the deal fell through. I also think that Molly Shannon would be a great sitcom star, if only she'd give up movies.

America's most talented superstar would be great in a sit com. Another Gigdet or Tammy in the 21st Century:wave:

Michael Keaton would be fantasic as a Sitcom star. Has anyone ever seen the movie 'Beetlejuice'? Keaton was utterly hilarious in that - he's a great comic actor.

Michael Keaton would be a fantastic choice for a new sitcom. Night Shift, Gung Ho and Mr. Mom were also good movies. Since his movie career hasn't exactly been on fire a change to weekly TV might be the cure.

Keaton appeared with Mary Tyler moore and David Letterman on Mary and also starred in Working stiffs!

I'd like to see some new faces. Shows are best with new people who become famous instead of famous people getting a new show. If there is one really famous person on a show it seems like the other stars get less credit.

I kind of disagree with that statement. A big star will get the publicity for a new show he/she is starring in. However, if the show is cast right, 9 out of 10 times the supporting characters will steal the show. It's happened to alot of sitcoms that had big stars attached to them. For example, look at Mary Tyler Moore show, Newhart, Cybill, etc. The good thing about having a star in a sitcom, is that the star will draw alot of publicity to the show. Once people tune in, the supporting characters can get their shot at fame.

It depends on the show.

I think Bebe Neuwirth is a very talented actress, adept at both comedy and drama, who would make an intersting sitcom star. But I think she does alot of stage acting.

I also think Mindy Cohn is underrated, and if it weren't for the fact that she doesn't exactly conform to Hollywood's typical near-supermodel beauty standard, which would likely hold her back as far as producers/casters are concerned, I think she could be a huge sitcoms star. She was hilarious when she guested on Suddenly Susan.

Other than that I agree with the person who said new faces are nice.

I think Bebe Neuwirth would've been apart of the Frasier spinoff, had she not had the desire to go back to Broadway. How much better would Frasier be if Lillith was a regular on that show?

As for Mindy Cohn, she was I think, the funniest girl on the FOL when that show was on the air. I think networks should capitalize on the fact that she's not all that attractive and build a show about a frumpy girl and her insecurities.

I'd love to see Danny DeVito get another sitcom. He's such a great actor. I think Louie DePalma is one of the funniest sitcom characters of all time.

I'd also love to see Dave Foley get another show. I loved him on NewsRadio and Kids in the Hall.

I know it's a cartoon, but I think Ralph Wiggum from The Simpsons should get his own show. There are quite a few Simpsons characters that I think should get their own shows.

Ralph Wiggum did get a spinoff. He moved to New Orleans with Principal Skinner, to start a private detective agency. LOL :-)
