View Full Version : Do You Like Sitting on Those Tall Stools at Restaurants?
JamesG 07-29-2013, 11:19 AM Two places that I've been to recently, Hooters and TGI Fridays, have their seating like this. I knew of Hooters having it, but the Fridays that I go to recently changed it to the stools.
I feel very awkward on these things. I don't like that I am high up and that there is no back. Many people ask me how I cannot like Hooters lol, and I say it's their seating arrangement.
Do you like sitting on these?

catlover79 07-29-2013, 11:24 AM No, I prefer sitting in booths.
Torgo 07-29-2013, 12:08 PM Nope. They're extremely uncomfortable.
robyrob 07-29-2013, 12:23 PM i think that they are designed specifically so that if you've had too much, it automatically throws you off.
Retro4Life 07-29-2013, 06:02 PM Nope, I always feel as if I'm going to fall off. There's only one bar and grill around here that has them, and while I like their food, I really try to get a booth when I go there.
Brad Russ 07-29-2013, 07:10 PM I don't like them at all. When I'm at a restaurant I like to lean back and relax in a real chair with a back to it.

I agree with that. When I was younger I could tolerate a stool, but as you get older, my back aches and I like to take a bit of weight off my spine.
So i prefer a chair with a back.
I don't like them either, they are "so not" comfortable. It kind of feels like I'm sitting in a kids high chair.

Frump 07-30-2013, 11:06 PM I'm like 5'3 and a half and they are hard to climb up lol

You got 3.5 inches on me
born2late 07-31-2013, 04:59 PM I don't like them either. Not comfortable at all.
Janice 08-02-2013, 02:43 PM I never liked them. They don't seem all that safe in a drinking environment either. My nephew and his wife have a dining room set with those tall chairs. They have backs, but I still think they're uncomfortable. I like my feet on the floor, to feel grounded.

same here. I prefer a booth.
Clevelandsucks 08-04-2013, 06:45 PM I prefer normal chairs. They're more comfortable.

My heigth is awkward, and it does get as annoying as it is interesting, lol b/c some ppl see me as extremly SHORT and some ppl see me as extremly TALL. Sometimes I wish I could just fit into one category or the other.
I know at school and work, ppl would call me things like, "shorty", "little bit", "munchkin", "half pint", etc...
BUT I have some pretty short families members and THEY have called me, "long legs" "too tall", etc.... It's very....awkward to say the least lol
I said I'm either gonna stretch myself and become taller, OR have some surgery to have some of my legbone removed and be short lol I did hear of one woman doing that who was unsuaully tall.
comedyfreak 08-05-2013, 03:46 AM They're not that comfortable I prefer the booth.
Family Ties Forever! 08-05-2013, 09:47 PM I prefer regular chairs that have backs to them or a booth.
Dude111 11-08-2023, 09:44 PM Two places that I've been to recently, Hooters and TGI Fridays, have their seating like this.Yes I have sat in them Jimmy.... I dont like it cause its hard for me to get on them but I have sat in them.....
Coffeecup 11-09-2023, 01:36 PM I tend to think the restaurants do that for they want you to eat and get out fast. No hanging around. With the loud music playing in restaurants, that gets me out fast. Just read an ? New York Times article stating 2/3rd of customers at fast food restaurants are in the drive in lane and seating inside will be less and less. I think about how chubby the people are and now less and less people want to walk inside. No one wants to socialize anymore so we stay inside our cars.
