You never stop with the irrational posts, do you?
The Tea Party believes that the government should not spend more than it receives in revenue, to respect and follow the constitution and to not raise taxes... how "terrible" for them to believe in those!

All laudable aims, yet where is the morality of increasing the total amount of debt whilst the rich continue to have their snouts in the trough?

Why don't you ask Pres. Obama that? The national debt is increasing faster under him than it did under Bush! It's already increased by over $5 trillion since he took office.
Back to the "rich" again? The U.S. has the highest corporate tax in the world already. Once again, read my signature showing how much the "rich" pay in taxes.
I like the rich. Do you know why? Because I have never been offered a job by a poor person!

The debt might well increase during the greatest world economic slump since the Wall Street Crash of 1929. But there's one law for the rich in this life and one for the poor,a situation which I would like to change.http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/551168/10_of_the_biggest_corporate_tax_cheats_in_america

Okay, I understand... you hate (more accurate: are jealous of) the rich.
If there is one law for the rich and one for the poor, why have some rich people ended up in jail for tax evasion?

Not enough have ended up in jail. They have their ill-gotten gains stashed away in the Cayman Islands,Switzerland and Jersey away from the taxman. I'm grateful for what I've got: as the Old Testament said "Thou shalt not covet" and Jesus told us "Give us our daily bread". I'm happy with that. A million dollars won't make me play the piano any better. But faced with the situation we're in with cuts across the board apart from the very needy I'm in agreement with one of your richest citizens,Warren Buffett, who pays less tax than his secretary.http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/11/26/us-buffett-tax-idUSBRE8AP0LY20121126
Fleet 08-08-2013, 03:28 PM Having foreign bank accounts is not necessarily "ill-gotten" gains. It depends on how and what funds were transferred/invested.
But do continue with your obvious envy of the rich... it's entertaining!

Ok I will. That car for one thing on your avatar..no wonder you're one of the dirtiest countries on Earth. Has nobody told you about energy conservation,or do the well-to-do all have to motor around pretending they're Blake Carrington..

Oh, are you referring to my '76 Cadillac limousine, which is driven less than 1,000 miles per year (actually more like less than 600 miles)? That car?
And, incidentally, the air quality out here in the Los Angeles area is cleaner than it was in the '70s and '80s. Back then, there were frequent stage 1, 2 and even 3 smog alerts. There hasn't been a stage 3 smog alert for over 20 years.
The U.S. would be even "cleaner" if the 12+ million illegal aliens were deported.

Wild Bill Hickok was a police detective in Springfield Missouri and was involved in the first documented " Fast Draw " shoot out in U.S history.

Jack McCall was the man who killed Hickok and 4 years after McCall was hanged they decided to move the cemetery and when they exhumed his grave they discovered he still had the noose around his neck.

tiredmike59 02-26-2014, 12:38 PM Maybe Missouri should be nicknamed "The Outlaw State"?:D
That was the nickname back in those days,I'm trying to resurrect it.
There was a Governor's convention back in 1881 and one of the east coast Governors asked our Governor, " What the Hell is the matter with your state? " " How is a bankrobber allowed to have a 12 year career? " I guess our governor got embarrassed because later that year he paid Bob Ford to kill Jesse James. Missouri was also known as " The Jackass State " like the old saying " Stubborn as a Missouri mule " all the years I have lived here I only saw one jackass and that was at a carnival. Unless they're talking about the 2-legged ones.
tiredmike59 02-27-2014, 03:26 AM The Texas gunfighter Clay Allison moved to Sedalia Missouri in 1877 and shortly after that to Kansas where he is said to have had a run in with Wyatt Earp, according to Earp anyway. Allison's daughters were born in Missouri.
Some other info on Clay Allison;
He received a medical discharge from the army for a condition the doctors called " Partly epileptic, Partly maniacal " due to a head injury when he was a little boy. Once while visiting a dentist in Wyoming the dentist drilled the wrong tooth so Allison went to another dentist to get it repaired. He went back to the original dentist, pinned him down and yanked out one of the dentist's teeth with a pair of pliers. Clay Allison died when he fell off a buckboard and the wagon wheel crushed his skull.
More Missouri outlaws;

He was a cousin of Wyatt and also a lawman. He lived long enough to see the Wyatt Earp tv series, wonder what he thought of it?

Did you know that in 1863 John Wilkes Booth was arrested in St.Louis for making treasonous remarks about the government? He was also in a play that the Lincolns attended and gave Lincoln the creeps by shaking his finger at him while delivering his lines.

This guy's brother went to enlist in the Union army and they turned him over to some vigilantes who lynched him and threw his body into a sink hole. He goes nuts and joins the Confederate Guerrillas and goes on a killing spree that tops Bloody Bill Anderson.

tiredmike59 03-25-2014, 01:08 AM I found this photo gallery on the internet with pictures of famous people from the old west. Some of them are not who they are supposed to be, like the Billy The Kid,Jesse James,Doc Holliday group photo. They all look the same age, what do you think? There are some pictures of Perry Samuel (The black step-brother of Jesse James.) I knew there was such a person and wondered if he rode with the James Gang until I saw the picture, He looks about 6-7 years old. He did alright for himself, started his own school near Kansas City and Jesse helped fund it (With stolen money no doubt but it was the thought that counts) I still have not come across any pictures of Sim Younger, Cole Younger's black uncle, But I did find him listed in a will of Cole Younger's grandfather who left him 400 acres of land in St.Clair Missouri and a trust fund set up for him to attend the best college he could get into. There are a lot of pictures on this site.

tiredmike59 03-26-2014, 01:58 AM THE LONG RIDERS and THE GREAT NORTHFIELD MINNESOTA RAID are a couple of movies that depicted the James/Younger debacle in Minnesota in 1876. Cole Younger was shot 11 times, one bullet struck him in the back of the head and lodged just above his eye, They had been in a cold swamp so long that when they removed his boots his toenails fell off. Even with all that pain he was laughing and joking with the spectators as they wheeled them down the street in a wagon. He lived another 40 years. Here is a better description about the raid than the movies gave.

Have you ever been on any of those Genealogy sites where people are looking for information about being related to famous people? I have been using those sites to get info on these old west people that I have been researching. Someone will post a question saying they think they are related to Kid Curry on their mother's side and will get a dozen replies from people who also claim to be related and they will have a family reunion right there on the webpage. They almost seem disappointed when they find out they are not related to some murderous psychopath. Just to find out what kind of response I would get I lied and said I might be related to Mark Twain on my Father's side. I checked back a month later and found that I received one reply, It was a short one, " WHO CARES? " To the best of my knowledge I am not related to any famous outlaws or serial killers but I am related to the Molly Maguires of Pennsylvania. I bet very few people west of the Mississippi even know who they were. I guess I should be happy for that.

tiredmike59 04-02-2014, 01:19 PM Long before the western outlaws we had pirates all along the rivers. They operated from caves and islands and would attack boats as they navigated the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. When the western outlaws died out we had gangsters, every city had them. Just google the name of your city and gang history, these are some of the ones I came up with.
THE PILLOW GANG (The name originated from their leader who had been shot in the butt and carried a pillow with him where ever he went.)

tiredmike59 04-02-2014, 10:45 PM ROY GARDNER (1884-1940) b.Missouri
This guy led an interesting life even if it was criminal. He started off running guns down in Mexico during their revolution and was caught and scheduled to be shot by firing squad but escaped and fled back to the U.S. He then became a sparring partner for Heavyweight Champ James J.Jeffries. Next he took up robbing trains,by himself, that was unheard of. The only one he ever killed was himself.

I came across this next guy looking over Wikipedia's list of bankrobbers and noticed he was born in Texas in 1911 and was caught robbing a bank in 2003.I thought " What the Hell? "
J.L ROUNTREE

While I was reading about that guy listed above I got to thinking about this other old fart in 1930s New York who was counterfeiting crappy looking 1 dollar bills so he could feed himself and his dog and pay his rent. It took the feds 10 years to catch him. His name was Emerich Juettner and there was a movie about him called Mister 880. Here is his story and a short clip from the movie.

tiredmike59 04-04-2014, 12:31 PM DIRTY DAVE RUDABAUGH
He got the nickname because he seldom bathed. He crossed paths with many of the famous people in the old west. He taught Doc Holliday how to shoot, he was chased by Wyatt Earp,Bat Masterson and Pat Garrett. Billy The Kid said he was the only man he ever feared and yet his main claim to fame was that he stunk. He was smart enough to stay down wind of the posse.

tiredmike59 04-05-2014, 01:52 AM I found this on the internet.
In the later 1870s after robbing a series of banks, brothers Jesse and Frank James were riding their horses in a pounding rain storm when they spotted a small shack in the Ozarks. They decided to rest their horses and knock on the door. An elderly woman let them in and hung their wet jackets by the fireplace, she then began dishing out some hot stew for the boys. Frank told Jesse, " She reminds me of Momma. " While they were eating she told them she was a widow and in debt and the bank was going to foreclose on her home in the morning because she didn't have $ 800.00 to pay them. They thanked her for the stew and she insisted they stay the night till the rain stopped. When she woke she discovered they were gone and left a note on her table with money. The note read " Ma`am, here is $ 800.00, pay the banker and be sure to get a receipt. " When the banker showed up later she gave him the money and got the receipt. On his way back to town the banker was ambushed by the James brothers and robbed of $800.00.
The story sounds made up to me but you never know. Here is the place where I found it, you have to scroll down to get to it.

THE IRISH WILDERNESS
This Irish priest thought he had a good idea. He rounded up 40 poor Irish families from St.Louis and supplied land for them in the Ozarks so they could build their own settlement. They all vanished without a trace. He didn't count on the Bushwackers, He should have paid attention to what happened to the Mormons years before.

tiredmike59 04-08-2014, 10:09 PM BLACK BART (1829-1888?)
He was born in England and did all his stagecoach robbing in California but he had lived in Hannibal Missouri and his wife still lived there while he was in prison. He never killed anyone, never robbed the passengers, it was the mail and the strongboxes that he took. He would leave poems behind like these;
" So here I've stood while wind and rain,
Have set the trees a sobbin
And risked my life for that damn stage,
That wasn't worth the robbin. "
" I've labored long and hard for bread,
For honor and for riches,
But on my corns too long,
You fine haired sons of bitches. "
When he was released from prison a reporter asked him if he was going to rob more stages and he told him he was done committing crimes. Another reporter asked him if he was going to write anymore poems and he said, " Didn't you hear me? I said I was done committing crimes. "

tiredmike59 04-09-2014, 02:02 PM HANGINGS
Another category I found while researching the old west was hangings.
There were quite a few of them and you can read about some of them on the internet. It was treated like a sporting event and spectators came from miles away to watch. Here are a few descriptions I read about on some of the hangings.
A black outlaw was about to be hanged and was asked if he had any last words and he said, " I came here to hang not talk ."
Another prisoner was entertaining the crowd by singing and doing an Irish Jig while waiting to be dropped.
Boone Helm couldn't wait for them to kick the box out from under him and jumped off by himself.
An Italian immigrant was being hung for stealing a horse and told the sheriff that he never saw a hanging before and wanted to know if he would suffer much. The sheriff told him that it would be over in seconds, but they used too much rope and his feet touched the ground and it took him 20 minutes to choke to death. The sheriff became so sick from it that he quit his job the next day.

This was a tough town. It's first marshal pinned his badge on at 3pm and was laid out for burial at 8pm the same day. They had seven marshals in 14 months, the last one ran away. It had a population of 2000 but most people used aliases because they were wanted for crimes.
