Ready or not, here they go.
Disney Channel announced on Tuesday that "Good Luck Charlie" will bid the airwaves goodbye after this, its fourth season.
A statement from the cabler to our sister site Deadline reads:
“It’s been our great pleasure to work with the extraordinary producers Phil Baker, Drew Vaupen and Dan Staley and the writers and crew of Good Luck Charlie.
We could not have dreamt of a better cast than Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico and Eric Allan Kramer (and even little Logan Moreau as Baby Toby!) and the many guest stars who make the series so special….
We look forward to the big finale episode the creative team is planning.”

robyrob 06-12-2013, 02:59 AM that's too bad, its a fun little show
Mr. Television 06-12-2013, 09:12 AM Well that sucks. This came out of the blue. It's one of the few family sitcoms still on TV.
PrettyinPink55 06-12-2013, 10:03 PM Noooooooooooooooo :( :( :(
This is my favorite Disney Channel show and is a real throwback to the old family sitcoms. :( It reminded me of TGIF! :(

NOOO!!! I love this show and I was hoping it would stay around for at least a few more seasons! I wonder what brought this on because it's one of the best shows on TV (sitcom-wise), IMO! I completely agree with PrettyinPink55.
I find it strange that they would do this without any kind of warning since it's such a popular show!
James28 06-13-2013, 09:50 AM Disney Channel just has a track record for pulling the plug on their popular shows after 100 episodes (before that, it was 65).
retrofan05 06-13-2013, 11:22 AM Has any Disney Show lasted more the four seasons? This isn't that surprising. Luckily, Girl Meets World will be coming soon!!
James28 06-13-2013, 01:02 PM ^^ "Hannah Montana" lasted for four seasons. "That's So Raven" lasted for four seasons. "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and its "On Deck" continuation lasted for a combined six seasons.

One of the few shows that my kids watch that I don't mind.
Spark Of Spirit 06-13-2013, 04:11 PM This news is kind of weird since the show is so well-liked and high rated. But at least it had a pretty good run.

Disney has had a lot of high rated shows (Lizzie McGuire, That's So Raven, Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place, etc.), however none of them went past four seasons. I think Disney does this so they can continue to bring in new shows and keep things fresh.
MRPITT 06-13-2013, 04:56 PM That's a bummer, my kids will be crushed its one of the only shows my whole family looks forward to watching when its on.
robyrob 06-13-2013, 07:05 PM i wonder if Disney signs the casts to 4-year contracts and is afraid of giving everyone raises if they renew a hit show, when they can just keep showing the repeats forever to good ratings at no extra cost...
Mr. Television 06-13-2013, 07:34 PM I've heard of this rule but this is the first Disney Channel sitcom I've watched so I forgot. I do think it's stupid because the show is still popular and tv needs more shows like this. the networks have practically ignored the family audience in recent years.

EXACTLY!!! This show is a breath of fresh air!! I do enjoy the other Disney Channel sitcoms, but this show is different.
Nobody has a super power or a super talent or is a superhero or teen pop star or lives under extraordinary circumstances in any means. The show is realistic. The Duncans are everyday people with everday problems in everyday situations families and kids alike can relate to. It reminded me of the older Disney Channel shows Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens.
I hope that Girl Meets World can help fill the void GLC is going to leave. :(
Schmoopie 06-16-2013, 01:01 AM I'm surprised that ABC doesn't pick it up and at least show it on Saturday mornings with new eps. I would still DVR it and watch it. ABC does own Disney!
PrettyinPink55 06-17-2013, 11:46 PM They might. They used to do that back in the day of Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire. I think they even did it for That's So Raven and maybe The Suite Life.
comedyfreak 06-20-2013, 10:54 AM This just sucks! The good shows are dwindling down to none. I'm going to miss this it was such a good show.

GLC has always been excellent when it comes to viewers in these days.. averaging 3-4 million views per episode.
"Demolition Dabney" which aired on May 12 got about 2.7 million viewers (I believe?).. so I assumed that was just because the episode aired on Mother's Day.
Then comes "Go Teddy!" which aired the following week and it got 2.6! No big occasion as far as I can remember happened on that day..
My theories:
-Timeslot
This is definitely a weak reason, because the show has definitely done fine in the 7:30/6:30c timeslot during the third season.
-Promotion
Maybe Disney isn't advertising the show as much? I doubt that's any case.
-Getting Old
Maybe people are growing out of this show, which is unfortunate. But I know that many people still love this show, right?
So.. what's causing these low viewers?! There's definitely more thoughts but I probably couldn't think of them.
Family Ties Forever! 07-02-2013, 03:52 AM That's a shame that the show is going to end. It's a cute show.
hughpuppies 09-28-2013, 07:53 PM I was wondering because Steven Bradley Perry and Jake Short are to star in a new show called Mighty Med, so does that mean A.N.T. Farm is over also or does it me just Jake Short will no longer be on it?
