View Full Version : An apology

I wish to apologize to any individuals who may have been put off by any of my responses to their comments on the boards. I have been considering taking time off while things cool down and may come back at a later date. This board posting has lost its fun for me. I feel like I have stepped on two many toes, rubbed some of feelings the wrong way, and have generally wasted people's time.
I have a very distinct feeling that some of the friends I have made here I won't see back, and I admit it has been my fault. I have never intended to hurt anyone, but to have fun and have an
ongoing discussion about the greatest show on television. I realize there is a very broad audience out here with different age groups and walks of life, and I do apologize if I have seemed less than sympathetic or understanding. At a later time I should come back, hopefully when they decide to air the show again, and hopefully all will be forgotten and forgiven.

Okay. All is forgotten and forgiven.

So what's better? Stuffing or mashed potatoes? Let's take a poll.

Two votes for mashed potatoes!! I was thinking of something creative about mashed potatoes, and melted butter... and another holiday favorite, cherry pie... But since Thanksgiving was months ago, let's talk about Mardi Gras...

oh god ! no stop ! i can feel the fact going to my thighs...i don't like thanksgiving. the whole eating a dead turkey thing. of course sinc i'm a vegetarian i don't eat it but it's sao pathetic...just cuz they did it like 50 or whatver years ago does not mean we have to. i feel sorry for the turkeys. sure they're ugly but they're humans...well...they're breathing aren't they ? ok..i'm gonna stop before i go into another one of my "animals have right too" speeches...

As much as I LOVE mashed potatoes, I gotta go with the stuffing. We always make a huge thing of stuffing at Christmas and Thanksgiving and it is always the first thing gone. The recipe has been passed down for generations in our family. It's the best :D

InpectorExstead has come up with a valid point for discussion:
To eat meat or NOT to eat meat? Should we go with album "Meat Is Murder" by the Smiths, or "Eat 'em and Smile" by David Lee Roth? Better role model: anti-fur vegan Morrissey formerly of the Smiths or bow-hunting animal killer Ted "Bundy" Nugent? You know what, I think I'm seriously going to regret this topic, because people are going to have some very firm opinions, but they'll get lively, which is JUST the way we like it!!

OMG that's like, seriously wrong. Poor turkey's. I know, they may be ugly, but I mean, how would you feel if someone took a gun, shot you, and brought you to a meat slicing place and then someone bought you and ATE you?!? I don't think I'd like it that much.

Sooooooo right on toots !

I confess, turkeys sure are tasty, but BOYYYY, the whole meat industry is bloody. I remember years ago seeing a turkey in someone's back yard, it just looked so... MAJESTIC. It seemed so kind, so gentle, you just had to feel so sorry for it when November rolled around. Did you know that originally, the TURKEY
was going to be the official emblem of the country when America was founded? It of course lost out to the bald eagle. And the Puritan forefathers (the pilgrims) did NOT traditionally eat turkeys at the first Thanksgiving meal, they actually ate EEL!!
EAT MEAT IF YOU WANT, BUT FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE MEAT INDUSTRY!!!! IT AIN'T PRETTY!!!!

Ok, if the Turkey was the symbol for America, I'd swim to England before I'd live here.

I believe Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird, but all of the other guys wanted the bald eagle. He said that the turkey was a nobler bird, and that the eagle was mean and stole food that other animals had already caught.

yep and then they open u up and fill u w/ stuffing and just stuff you till there's no more stuff to stuff and then they stitch you up..ew. the meat industry..hmm..don't go there...i can't stand being in the meat aisle. next time u're there. look everywhere, from the red meat to the fish to the white meat. it's nast seeing all those dead animals. and just think "how many animals were killed ?" and nobody buys them half the time so they just end up in a dumpster. cuz they're rotted or whatver. i know my parents hate absoulutely hate the fact that i'm a vegetarian. i'm almost vegan but i could so not give up ice cream. and cheese-i have to have my daily cheese sandwhich since i'm a no milk girl..lol. my parents were thinking about taking me to a psychiatrist to talk some sense into me....they think i'm doing it to loose weight *laughs*..parents...what's can i say...:D

I would like to apologize for my last apology. It was totally unnecesary and pointless, and was made solely on the basis of perceived ill-feelings in response to comments I had made--which, in fact, were utterly baseless. Instead of picking myself up by the boostraps, sucking in my gut, throwing back my shoulders and swaggering out into the sunset with real poise and confidence like a real man, I cowered and clucked like a timid yella chicken gizzard, groveling and whimpering because I had felt I had offended everyone and every living thing. For shame, Tad. So I wish to say I am TRULY, DEEPLY, HUMBLY SORRY for that last apology.
Will you ever, ever forgive me?:crying:

they ARE ! but have u seen the white ones ? we went to like a farm (during thanksgiving break too...it was the day after) cuz my sis's wanted to ride the pony 9of course after the hour drive they changed their minds)...but there was a white turkey. i've never seen one like it. anyway..it was lying down so you couldn't see this hanging thing or whatver from his chin..but i was like "scuse me, is that a turkey ?" and the guy was like "sure is young'n" and i was like "ok..." (thinking i'm not a younging just cuz i'm abrely 5 foot does not mean i am a young'n...)...

I also wish to apologize for my misspelling of the word bootstraps.
In case anyone was confused by my "nonsensical" word...
I am so very, very sorry.

So a lot of voices have spoken in favor of animal rights. I wish to add another thing related to the issue. Has anyone read last week they have finally succeeded in cloning a cat? See the baby kitty picture on the front page of the news? Cute, huh? JUST THE FIENDISH WORK OR DR. KARNAK VON KRIPPLOR, EVIL GENIUS!!!! Genetic engineering is wrong, because human beings are NEXT, now that they have broke man's DNA code! It's Frankenstein, it's playing God, ANYTHING can happen now!! And there are NO moral imperatives against it!! What new terror can science unleash against mankind?? We are agents of OUR OWN DEHUMANIZATION!! What can we as humans do to "replicate" the image of God in us? It is all very cheap.

January 17th, 1990??!! Let's see, was I down there when she had him?? I remember about a year later when I met her, she had to excuse herself and "pick up her little boy"... How quickly time flies!! Just like yesterday... I was talking to one of the pastors in Jan. 1990 about her and they said she just had a baby.
Hmmm. Boy, I remember that so well...
