It's such a sad episode. If I'm watching it on cable, I'll watch the episode through the wedding and then change the channel. I just want the girls to be together forever. LOL

I feel the same way, whenever I see the finale coming on I busy myself with something else. I won't even watch it.

At the end when Dorothy is leaving, she tells the girls and her mother...."You're all angels, all of you..." That part always makes me sad. :(

My roommates constantly watch GG. One night we paired up an episode with Lana DelRey, like Dark Side of the Rainbow.

Who were all the people at Dorothy's wedding? Why weren't her children, Kate and Michael there? And Uncle Angelo lived in town, why wasn't he there? Where was Miles? Where was her sister Gloria? How about Harry Weston? He was a good friend. I didn't make any sense to have a church full of strangers. The only person we knew was Stan! They should have brought back a bunch of friends and relatives that have visited the girls over the years!

Agreed. Maybe they tried to bring everybody back for the finale and failed, but taking into account the other inconsistencies on the writers' part throughout the series, it wouldn't surprise me at all if no one thought about the friends and relatives aspect at all.

Yep- the wedding "guest list" was sloppily done.

But, it's a great ending, that episode had.

And, the girls will be together forever. :)

Miles was not in the prior 2 part episodes, the one where Rose has a heart attack.

Yeah, I thought it was incredibly weird that Miles didn't go see Rose in the hospital when she had a heart attack! She visited him when he was having minor plastic surgery. The last GG episode with Rose and Miles made it seem like their relationship was back on track. Maybe it was foreshadowing for what happened on the Golden Palace.

I don't watch series finales in general. They tend to upset me. I like to remember the essence of the show as it was. I like to think the girls didn't separate and that they are all living together to this day!! ;)

It's a good episode just like all the others but I tend to avoid it because it's too sad! :( I didn't want it to end! But luckily I have all the seasons on DVD so I just put the first season on and start watching them all over again then I'm happy lol

Definitely one of the best series finales ever, in my opinion. It is very sad, but only at the very end. I actually make sure to watch it whenever I see that it is on...

I agree. The one thing that I do think is great with the finale is the fact that it was Dorothy who got married. It would have been easy to make it Blanche or even have it where Rose and Miles wedded.

I detest those last two episodes. I've always found Leslie Nelson annoying...I just hated the way it ended...would Dorothy have been so desperate to marry someone she just met?

Well they had to have a reason for her to leave, because the other three were moving on to The Golden Palace. Maybe she should have remarried Stan, instead.

It's not the idea of Dorothy marrying that I hate...it's Leslie Nelson...I heard he was very rude on set...I was never a fan of his.

I have thought marrying Stan would have made for a better ending. The marriage to Leslie Nielsen seemed so rushed and there was no chemistry. I suppose Jerry Orbach might have been a better choice too; his character would have had time to realize he was in love and not just afraid of being alone.

They tried that once where she planned to marry Stan and he wanted her to sign an prenuptial agreement which ruined things between them and probably didn't' want to tread on familiar ground. As for Alex Rocco/Jerry Orbach "Glen O'Brian" character I agree that would have been a bit more believable than her marrying Leslie Nielsen's character which all seemed rather rushed like you said.

No I watch the finale. So many funny scenes!
I appreciate the real love and tears of the girs at the end. And after seeing it countless times that still moves me. That's pretty special for a sitcom.
I also always have to watch Dorothy look straight into the camera when she goes through the door for the last time, as if saying goodbye to the viewers as well.

Yes, I usually avoid the episode. Recently I caught the last few minutes and they kept having their group hugs.... gulp. Breaks my heart every time. :(

Home Again, Rose was a lot like a series finale in itself. I liked the way it ended with all of them hugging and staying together at the house.

As for Dorothy re-marrying Stan, he didn't change. He was always the same way. Had he changed and been nice and smartened up, it would have made a perfect ending. But Home Again, Rose was a good way to end the series.

There had to be a final storyline about Dorothy leaving because they wished to continue in another series, without her.

I wanted it to end.

I always wanted Stan to "clean his act up" and him and Dorothy get back together and get married in the last eposide.

I loved that the writers made it Dorothy who got married to a gorgeous older man in the end. After all the insults she endured over the years implying she was unattractive to men, she deserved it!
