I did not include the many movie blocks. This is the year my all-time favorite show Early Edition premiered. 7th Heaven also premiered then, at one point it was 2nd only to Early Edition on my list. Shows I voted for: Touched by an Angel, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Cosby, Murphy Brown, 7th Heaven, Home Improvement, Promised Land, Mad About You, Something So Right, Frasier, Caroline in the City, The Nanny, Party of Five, Wings, Law & Order, Star Trek: Voyager, Diagnosis Murder, Seinfeld, Family Matters, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Boy Meets World, Everybody Loves Raymond, Coach, and Early Edition.

Home Improvement, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, and Kirk.

At that time, I wasn't watching much prime-time shows. I was too old for TGIF...too young for Must-See TV.

I may make a song about it using this song...

There were thankfully still some good shows in the 1990s. 1996 was getting close to the point where I started watching less and less network TV. There are some shows I like on the networks (just very few).
For me, I like the television shows of the 1920s-1980s much better (that's counting the earliest broadcasts like "Felix the Cat"- still a great, fun cartoon.)
But I try to find the good things I can enjoy from any time period. (As God says in His Word, The Bible, in 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 "Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid all appearance of evil.")
For 1996 though, this is when Early Edition premiered and it is definitely one of my favorite '90s shows and one of my favorite shows period.
I also enjoyed Home Improvement and Star Trek: Voyager in that year, along with Step by Step that was still running and Boy Meets World and Saved By the Bell: The New Class and Hang Time and City Guys and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper and Baywatch and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Family Matters and Touched By An Angel and Promised Land and Eek!Stravaganza and Spider-Man ('90s FOX show), and Cosby and Coach and Wishbone as well.
Also premiering in this year were Jim Henson shows Aliens in the Family and Muppets Tonight!- both of which I enjoy.:)

I was too young in 1996, but I've grown fond of a few shows. I voted for Boy Meets World, Friends, Law and Order, and The Nanny - all of which I watch to this day. Overall, I would say Friends is one of my all time favorite shows.

1996 was an awesome year for sitcoms; the 90s is arguably the strongest decade when it came to sitcoms, both major and cable-based shows. i voted for friends, caroline in the city, 3rd rock, in the house, frasier, the jamie foxx show, martin, living single, ER. was surprised not to see the fresh prince of bel air on there. i would've voted for it, even though i preferred the first 4 seasons of that show than the last 2 seasons.

Monday Night Football
Unsolved Mysteries
Law & Order
Sliders
Married With Children
Seinfeld
Walker Texas Ranger
The Simpsons

The rest of the shows on the list I've either never seen or didn't like them enough to vote for.

It's last telecast was September 9, 1996 so it wouldn't have been on the fall lineup. The Jeff Foxworthy Show replaced it.

When I first made this poll I had never seen The X-Files, Sister Sister, Grace Under Fire, and The Jeff Foxworthy Show. They would all get votes now.
