View Full Version : Oz the Great and Powerful Frump 03-08-2013, 03:10 AM I'm so looking forward to this movie, hope to see it Sunday!! Anyway else have high hopes for it!!! I'm soo excited!!! *ROGER* 03-08-2013, 03:13 AM Mila Kunins is in this picture. I wonder if she'll be singing like Judy Garland! This does sound interesting, though. :) Frump 03-08-2013, 03:15 AM Will there even be a Dorothy chracter since this is a prequel, I've very intrigued :) *ROGER* 03-08-2013, 03:22 AM Will there even be a Dorothy chracter since this is a prequel, I've very intrigued :) Mila Kunins will actually be playing a witch. I don't know about a Dorothy in this prequel. I did find this synopsis of the movie: A mischievous magician gains the wisdom to become a powerful ruler after being swept away to a land of magic and mystery as director Sam Raimi and screenwriters Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) explore the genesis of author L. Frank Baum's enduring tales of Oz. Shady illusionist Oscar Diggs (James Franco) enchants curious audiences at a Kansas circus. When he is inexplicably transported to the wondrous world of Oz, he encounters three witches named Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who pose him an awesome challenge: root out a ruinous force of evil that threatens to destroy the entire kingdom, and become the great leader that the population has been waiting for. Should Oscar succeed in summoning the necessary sorcery and creativity to deliver the land from darkness, he will forever be known as the Wizard of Oz. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi Frump 03-08-2013, 03:34 AM Mila Kunins will actually be playing a witch. I don't know about a Dorothy in this prequel. I did find this synopsis of the movie: Thanks and wow it sounds good!! I can't wait! Family Ties Forever! 03-08-2013, 04:08 AM My sister and I are going to the movies next Turesday. That's probably the movie we will see. Frump 03-08-2013, 04:44 AM I'd like to see if it will mesh with Wicked in ANY WAY. The Flying Dutchmans 03-08-2013, 11:24 AM This is the funny thing. In The Wizard Of OZ, as I recall, the Wizard was carried to the land of oz in the same Cyclone that brought Dorothy there and if so, then Dorothy should be there trying to find the Wizard. In-fact, they should even bump into eachother while trying to destroy the wicked witch. But how can the wizard destroy the witch if he sent Dorothy to do it? This is where it gets confusing. WAIT! Forget all of it, it was just a dream anyway. Marvo301 03-08-2013, 02:47 PM Have any of you seen the movie "The Witches of Oz"? It's a very interesting and a little bit "out there" take on Oz! Intersting movie to watch if you're an Oz fan. cleverfun3000 03-08-2013, 03:13 PM Something is wrong with the summary you are providing. The tornado that carried the sideshow magician to Oz (he eventually becomes OZ the Great and Powerful), anyway that tornado happened a lot earlier than the tornado that carried Dorothy there. The difference in the time of the two tornadoes allows the magician to establish his legend in OZ. The time between Dorothy landing in Oz and actually coming face to face with the wizard is not enough time for the legend of Oz to have grown thru out the entire land. So it couldn't have possibly been the same tornado. |
