Valerie Harper just did a new interview with People Magazine in which she reveals she has an incurable type of brain cancer called leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, and she may only have as little as three months to live.

I just read this on MSNBC. I will keep Valerie in my prayers and her family. I was just thinking the other day how The Mary Tyler Mooore Show on ME-TV is about to start at the beginning again soon. I was glad because I have been missing Rhoda. Valerie Harper you are the best.

Valerie Harper has terminal brain cancer and only has a short while to live. This is no doubt devastating. :(

This is really horrible. I always liked Valerie no matter what show she was in and what she was doing. She just seemed to be a good person.

This is why I hate cancer.

OH Nuts!

I like her very much and am saddened to hear this. Praying for her.

This hurt me when I first heard about it. Why her? I love her spirit. I gotta pray for this woman.

Several years ago, Mary Tyler Moore wrote a book that included quite a bit of her autobiographical info related to her diabetes. It wasn't long after reading that book, this year, when I first heard of Valerie's diagnosis.

Knowing what Mary's gone through made Val's news all the more shocking to me. We never know what's in the cards, so I hope both of them will be with us for as long as possible. Like Mary revealed at times, I don't think Valerie quite understands how much she means to all of us.

Its tough to hear. You can't help but watch Rhoda now on ME-TV and think about Valerie's condition. Really too bad because she's a good actress.

Valerie Harper suffers health emergency, gets rushed to hospital http://t.co/MwDRNuzA87

And then this source (http://deadline.com/2015/07/valerie-harper-hospitalized-maine-1201487692/) she has already been released.

Valerie Harper, who has been battling a rare cancer of the brain for more than two years, was taken Wednesday evening to York General Hospital in York, Maine, after reporting that she was not feeling well. The hospital is a few miles south of where she is appearing in an Ogunquit Playhouse production of the Gershwin musical Nice Work If You Can Get It. Harper was discharged Thursday morning, the hospital said in a statement, which did not provide information about her illness.

Hopefully this is a blip and not a major setback.

I don't know what's going on with her. One newsite said she was released from the hospital. Then ET reported she was in a coma and was not released and instead was taken to another hospital. Now that story is off the ET website. It sounds bad though. Prayers go out to Valerie. :(

Sources reporting that Valerie Harper is in a coma... possible complication of her "terminal" brain cancer? :( It's unfortunate, because I look at something like this as a major setback, perhaps a turn for the worse, rather than "just a blip". This is really sad, because I just saw Ms. Harper guest-star on 2 Broke Girls (an episode titled "An the Great Unwashed") earlier this year.

Reports are extremely inconsistent. Of course, Valerie's privacy is hers, and should be respected. It's just tiring to see "sources" saying so many different things.

I hope she recovers from this concern.

They have attempted to contact her husband, Tony Cacciotti, but he has not returned their calls. There are times when a family needs its privacy and this appears to be one of them. They're dealing with a huge weight right now, and the presence of a nosey media is not always welcome. Of course, the media is there on behalf of the equally nosey public. I know fans are concerned, and so am I, but the family deserves to have its privacy respected. And we should not encourage the media to meddle. When the time is right, I am sure her husband will issue a statement. Until then, we should all -- fans and media -- respect the privacy of Ms. Harper, Mr. Cacciotti, and all of their family and loved ones.

There is one source - apparently a female who is part of the musical she was in - who stands by her 'leaks' to the press, despite the reports to the contrary.

She is claiming that Harper was unconscious when they found her backstage Wednesday night (reports are saying she wasn't - she regained consciousness); that she was med-vac to a major Boston hospital on Thursday morning from the smaller hospital in York (reports are saying she was 'released from the hospital in Maine') and she says she is in a coma (reports are saying she is resting comfortably).

She is also saying that Harper is not doing well at all (reports are saying she is relaxing) and the prognosis is grim (reports are saying she may return to the stage before the play closes in 2 weeks). She has warned fans not to believe the 'spin' the theater and others are putting on this tragic story.

I personally believe this woman. If we remember back to a year ago with Joan Rivers, there were conflicting reports as well. Joan's 'resting comfortably' was their positive way of saying she was in a coma, and hoping for Joan to return to the stage in September meant she was not doing well at all.

Whatever is the truth, I wish Valerie well and positive thoughts.

I don't know. Sally Struthers is saying she's feeling better today. I hope that's the case.

Okay, so we're not supposed to believe this report, either? (It said Valerie Harper was never in a coma)

If so, then certain news sources can be so stupid.

Do you have a link for this alleged source? Without some verifiable proof it's only hearsay.

Well, Valerie has updated her Facebook and Twitter.

My dear friends and fans!
As always, thank you for your amazing support. I am happy to report I am not, nor have I been, in a coma.

As anyone who has taken strong medication knows, it doesn’t always agree with you, even with me as this experience proves.
I am confronting these hurdles with my usual enthusiasm and love of life.

Much love, Valerie

p.s.
But I must confess that the highlight of this ordeal came when I was escorted by two handsome young men and a pilot, in a medivac helicopter, as the full moon lit the sky. Talk about movie magic!!!

Perhaps there is more to the story... But Valerie has put everything out in the open to her fans the last couple years, so why hide anything at this point?

This is the reality of the media these days. In the old pre-Internet days, the media was very cautious and made sure everything was verified before running a story. Today they're just concerned with being the first to report a story and all too often it's very wrong. This is yet another sad example. Wasn't it E Online who broke this messed-up story?

The theater has announced she will NOT be back in the production as they hoped she would be. Actress Brenda Vaccarro will be taking over the role starting this week, and continue through to the final curtain on August 15th.

I think there's much more to the story of what's going on...

I was thinking a couple of weeks ago that I should be mad at the person working at Entertainment Tonight that came up with the news that Valerie Harper was in a coma. Or probably that "source" who gave the news to ET who stated that "It [didn't] look good.". I think that person or people probably tricked some into thinking that Ms. Harper was dying/passing away. Just another reason not to trust the press. :(

Anyway, I'm glad to see that Ms. Harper is doing OK after her health scare late last month.

It's been more than 2 months since she had the 'bad reaction' to new medication, and we've heard nothing about her or how she's doing. Makes me really wonder if the media was indeed wrong about her condition back at the end of July - and whether their sources were really incorrect?

Now I know everyone is going to say she wrote on her FB page that she was recuperating from the adverse reaction she had, and she was never in a coma. However, anyone could have posted that on her page (publicist, agent, husband, daughter, friend) just to quiet the news and give them privacy (which is what I long suspected). Maybe it's me but I just find it odd that she (who has been very public and straight forward about her condition) has not made any public statement or sat for an interview since this news broke - just that short blurb on FB. This could have been a great opportunity for her to visit 'The Doctors' again during the month of September, and tell fans what had happened - and open a discussion about reactions to medications.

I do pray she's OK, but I have some logical concern as more time goes on and we hear nothing.
