retrofan05 02-06-2013, 12:48 AM Steve Harvey is actually my favorite of all "Feud" hosts.
Zoneboy 02-06-2013, 01:35 AM Steve Harvey is actually my favorite of all "Feud" hosts.
The only one worse than Steve Harvey was Louie Anderson
My preference:
John O'Hurley
Richard Dawson
Ray Combs
Richard Karn
Steve Harvey
Louie Anderson

let'swatchtv 02-06-2013, 05:08 AM sorry folks, But I have to disagree on the Steve H. thing, I wish that Fremantle (assuming if they had a brain in which they do not) would have picked Cedric as the host of Feud than Steve "Phony" Harvey in 2010. because I like Cedric personality on the short-lived NBC summer affair It's Worth What? he wasn't too "ghetto" on that show unlike "you know who" is on Feud.
...but then again that's my opinion!

It's perfectly O.K. that you feel that way. Not everyone thinks that "Ghetto" is always appropriate in any situation. Not everyone is familar or even comfortable with street terms and slang in what should be a family show. It's not a criticism about race. . . .it's a criticism about BEHAVIOR that a lot of people have a problem with.

Really? I thought Richard Karn did a pretty good job as host
simmytbone 02-06-2013, 06:00 PM Really? I thought Richard Karn did a pretty good job as host
I agree with that statement
Richard Dawson is my favorite host of Feud with Richard Karn a close 2nd and I'm warming up to Steve Harvey, but as for the rest, John O'Hurley was OK, Louie Anderson is the worst and Ray Combs was overrated and he let the families go out of control with all of the yelling and screaming @ each other

I liked him on HI. He was bland as a host though IMO.

Richard Dawson was great too but seeing Richard Dawson kiss every woman's hand on every episode has gotten very old and annoying

This is the reason why I like this message board out of all the others, because when I tell the truth about something like this I don't get slandered or anything like that. and i'm really speaking from the bottom of my heart that I respect and appreciate it. I wish all of the other message boards follow the same suit but they never will unlike here.
but for Disney-ABC's sake I hope they don't learn from Fremantle and make Millionaire put itself on life support unlike what Fremantle did to Feud. in other words make the questions so very dirty and sexually induced that it trying to be a desperate sell-out for ratings.
and of course I don't hate all African-American game show host. I like Wayne Brady when he did Don't Forget The Lyrics on FOX in 2007 and
he's still cool on Let's Make A Deal on CBS if though I don't know why would he shave his head bald. also i'm really not a fan of LMAD no offense to him and all
Sherri Shepherd who took over GSN's The Newlywed Game from Carnie Wilson's throne in 2010 is ok even though i'm not a fan of here or TNG itself.
Jaleel White (a.k.a Steve Urkel) who hosted Sci-Fi *ahem* excuse me Sy-Fy Channel's Total Blackout is ok.
and the much later Teck Holmes who semi hosted Cartoon Network's short-lived revival of Hole In The Wall is ok as well. good host terrible international format.
but Harvey however want's to think he's all hood and thinks that Feud should be put on BET and it should not be. The Feud was for every race
to watch. it doesn't matter if you were white, black, hispanic etc.
I mean this is what Richard Dawson believe in when he did his speech for the 1985 finale of his ended run on ABC and in syndication and all the other host and formats followed suit except Harvey and I believe what Fremantle and its current host is doing to the Feud is very wrong it should be just for two colors alone (Black & White) it should be for everybody to watch and not just be a desperate suck up for ratings. this is the reason why I stopped watching in 2010 because not only for that reason alone but also because it
stereotyping black people that all of us are in the hood and not very educated selling drugs all the time and stuff like that and not all african-americans follow that. even to this day we still stereotype people and it's
really sickens me that America still does that to this day.
Also I think that Harvey is more absorbed about himself than the other contestants and the 30 year old format I mean does every game show no matter if it's new or classic should learn that "the contestant should be more important than the host"?
Mr. Television 02-06-2013, 08:08 PM I thought Ray Combs is the best in my opinion

I watched it all the time when Richard Dawson and Ray Combs were the hosts. I don't think any of the newer hosts are as good as them.

but to be fair at least he stopped doing that when he came back to do the hour-long version of Feud in 1994 (due to his daughter's wishes, and by his daughter I mean Shannon-Nicole.)

When did Steve say the Feud should be put on BET??
yankeesrj12 02-07-2013, 08:06 PM but what if it works out for them?
Then kudos to them. I just don't see it though. The previous two hosts were very serious when they needed to be, but were able to easily add humor as well. I think Cedric will be exactly the opposite: too humorous and not serious.

All i'm saying is that his behavior shows that Feud is mostly for blacks since he is mostly associated with that crowd among all the others, even though in true fashion is that Feud is for all colors for which Steve himself doesn't get it and he probably never will that's all.

JMFabiano524 03-07-2013, 12:22 AM How the hell did Cedric the Entertainer come to mind for this job?

I think I've seen a full episode of 100MD with Marco at my granmother's house in marion SC even though i can never speak spanish i though he was ok. but the board kind of reminds my of the britsh version better known as Family Fortunes and parts of the survey board was used in the 2005-2006 Karn era of Feud.
as for the short-lived 2006-2008 version called QDLG? I have never seen a full-episode of that version of Telefutura but I know that was hosted by Marco as well but I also know that after Marco moved n he was replaced by Omar Chaparro who hosted that version for eight weeks until it's very own doomed demise in 2008.

Ugh, it was so annoying! He would always say "I'm doubling the points!" as if it was his idea. But yeah, other than that I thought he was good. I don't like how Steve Harvey always starts off by saying "We got a good one for you today!" I don't like how so many of the questions now are of a sexual nature. I know that Richard Dawson is considered a legend by many, but I always thought he seemed like a dirty old man with the way he was always kissing on women that he didn't even know. Don't anyone bother telling me how he ended up marrying one of the contestants. I already know about that. Ray Combs was the best. It's a crying shame what happened to him! Louie Anderson wasn't fit for the job. He was out of his element. I thought John O'Hurley was good.
From first to worst in my opinion:
1) Ray Combs
2) John O'Hurley
3) Richard Karn
4) Steve Harvey
5) Richard Dawson
6) Louie Anderson

Truthfully, the questions bother me more than Harvey does. I have a feeling he could be really, really good even without playing off of R-rated surveys. Which is a shame.
Yeah, they need to bring back the family introductions before the game! The "We've got a good one..." spiel just makes the person who said Feud was now The Steve Harvey Show have more of a point. It's like, here's family A and family B, now let's get going!
And speaking of which, get an in-studio announcer. (The opening spiel also ignores the families) The Joey Fatone Soundboard is AWFUL. What is Burton doing these days?
As for my favorite Feud hosts...
1) Ray Combs/Richard Dawson (tie)
2) Marco Antonio Regil
3) Steve Harvey/John O'Hurley (tie)
4) Richard Karn
5) Louie Anderson
N/A Al Roker (never saw CFF)
N/A Ricki Lake (only hosted one "episode," but she wasn't that great in general on GSM. Why does she get to host, while Todd Newton was RIGHT THERE, just delivering prizes?!!?)
JMFabiano524 03-07-2013, 07:45 PM I hope that doesn't mean the questions will be all innuendos and he has to make fake shock faces for ratings.
This is what worries me. Regis and Meredith you'd expect to have a balance between humor and seriousness. Cedric, not so much. Either the host adapts to the show, or the show adapts to the host, which would be even more disastrous. (Remember what happened to Lingo when Bill Engvall hosted? And don't forget the "Drewcases"!!!)

well I'm not a big fan of Lingo but I heard that some people didn't like that version because of the sex-themed jokes and I'm not rally a fan of TPIR but I guess the "Drewcases" could be a problem.
but when I saw him hosting It's Worth What? I though he was capable and more enjoyable then Steve on the Feud.
also when you said "either the host adapts to the show or the show adapts to the host" it is definitely what's happening with Harvey's Feud of the later equation and it's making me sick to my stomach.

let'swatchtv 03-21-2013, 05:43 AM Thanks, I guess!
ThomasE 03-22-2013, 04:15 PM The same with me. He has breathed new life into the show and has been the key to a ratings renaissance that saved Family Feud from cancellation. He is also a very funny host who defies the stereotype of stand up comedians hosting game shows. He reacts to the contestants, even when they give an out of left field response. Sometimes when I watch the reruns on GSN, I find myself LOL.
As for Cedric the Entertainer taking over Millionaire. Can he also spark a revival of the long-running game show like his fellow King of Comedy? Give him a chance in the fall and see what happens.
I like Steve too. For the folks that don't like Steve as host, it was stated either on his radio show or from a source that the ratings went up for the series. I think he will be around for a while.
Cedric is hosting Millionaire? This I have to see. LOL.

Que Dice La Gente was canned? I didn't know that. I used to watch dijeron/que dice on Telefutura back in 2005 through 2007. !Que lastima! I also liked it when the host Marco would guest star in segments on Plaza Sesamo being the game show host for the Mexican Muppet characters. LOL.

I for one think that he's a overrated jerk! who doesn't care for anything about the show except himself, as a mater of fact I wold just love to see Chuck Woolery host the Feud more. besides, at least he would be more tolerable to watch than Harvey! also I think people who have watched his version is because of the 30 year old format not himself but that's just my opinion.
it's just really sad that since Harvey took over the show 2010, I felt like that people have forgotten about the other host such as Richard Dawson, Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn and John O'Hurley for whom (except for Dawson) I imagine Harvey himself have truly forgotten about.
but if you like Harvey on the Feud then more power to you ThomasE.

it's just really sad that since Harvey took over the show 2010, I felt like that people have forgotten about the other host such as Richard Dawson, Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn and John O'Hurley for whom (except for Dawson) I imagine Harvey himself have truly forgotten about.
