jasonbigley 02-02-2013, 01:32 AM My grandma died of cancer at the age of 55. I was 6 when she died. So tragic. She was a real sweet lady who loved church and her family.
A lady friend that was friends with me and my dad died of cancer october 2011 at the age of 55. A couple of weeks before she died, she was actually getting better to the point where she was going to go back to work, then poof she got sick again real fast and died.
My uncle died at the age of 53. He had muscular distrophy all his life. Early on when he was younger, he could walk around town. Then the last 10 years of his life, he was in a motorized wheelchair and to the point he could no longer walk and had to even be lifted out of his chair into bed, etc.

Retro4Life 02-02-2013, 11:24 AM The son of my brother's friend was killed at 17 in a car vs. train accident. Just a few days later, I was involved in an accident on that same road...I wasn't injured, but the car (driven by another guy) went right up to the edge of a steep embankment after skidding on the ice. If we'd have gone over we could easily have died.
A co-worker just died at age 40, from ovarian cancer. She lived life to the fullest, loved to party, go out, etc. It still seems hard to believe she's gone.
My uncle died at age 45, from liver damage.
Since this is a bit of a depressing topic (no offense to the original poster), I'd also like to add that my great, great aunt lived to be 100, one of my grandma's was 88 when she passed, and I had a great aunt that lived to be 94 (though she was in a bad way for years before that).

My other cousin's(Harry's brother) wife died of stomach cancer, she was only 50.
My good friend, David, died when he was only 25. He had renal failure due to the AIDS virus. That was the first funeral I ever went to and I remember I couldn't stop crying at the service. When we all went to cementary for that part of the service, I knew I wouldn't make it through that so I just sat in the car.
My sister's middle school and high school boyfriend, Tommy, died when he was only in his 20s. I think it was an accidental overdose because he was on a few medications for anxiety and a few other things. This was a shame because Tommy was a sweet and decent kid.

Regulus 02-07-2013, 05:18 AM As many of you know, I love to ride Roller Coasters. (I've only been on 478 of them). I rode the first one in 1966, a Kiddie Coaster in Virginia Beach, Va, a year later, i rode my first "Big" Coaster, the Blue Streak at Cedar Point in Ohio. :) I was introduced to these kinds of rides by a companion the son of one of my Father's friends, who was five years older than me ( 11 in 1966). In 1983 he died of a Cocaine Overdose. He had spent time in prison, twice but never learned his lesson. I will never see him again, for most likely he is a lost soul. :(

Yong Fang 10-19-2022, 06:49 AM I knew some people that I went to middle and high school with died young.
Me too. I am 55 years old and about twenty or so people from my graduating class of about 500 kids (school was 9-12 with about 2000 students).
One girl I had classes with committed suicide in her 40's when her husband died. She left behind a grown daughter. She was the nicest girl and had a smile that "could light a room", and really was a friendly, nice person. There were a few other suicides. One guy I was aquainted with, who again was a nice guy to me and liked, killed himself.
Another guy I didnt know died in a car accident at the age of 20 in 1987. Then there was another guy (again, didnt know him because our graduating class was so large) was in the military and active in life succumbed to cancer. Speaking of cancer....
One person that really got me was a girl (woman) named Elizabeth who died of cancer in 2020 at the age of 53. I worked in a grocery store where she had a mentally handicapped older brother (who was somewhat bullied unfortunately for being "dumb"). I did not know her after high school but did know that even as a teenager she was a born again Christian, and before she died was still very active in her church and had at least one grandchild. We sort of reconnected on Facebook a little bit and sent me a Happy Birthday message the year she died.
Like I said, I didnt know her but would bet a million dollars that she never ever did illegal drugs, never smoked a cigarette or whatever in her life, and never drank alcohol outside maybe, maybe a glass of wine at Christmas. She was not overweight. I am the same age and I drink alcohol a lot, smoke, did illegal drugs (including hard drugs) and am still here.
Lastly, there was a girl in high school I met in ninth grade named Winona who I met in a class. We talked everyday and she was the sweetest, nicest girl ever. I decided that summer I was going to ask her out in the tenth grade and make her my girlfriend. She rejected me. This has never happened since but I was obsessive over her and didnt know why she rejected me (and a present I gave her, a necklace). She finally wrote me a note she slipped in a book to leave her the hell alone. After the 11th grade year, she flunked the 11th grade because she never went to school and her mother (her father died) sent her to a boarding school and never saw her again..
Found out in 2018, the year my mother died that she was in her apartment, fell asleep on her couch and never woke up. One of her two sons found her. Probably took a bit for him to realize she wasnt moving. This was the day before Mother's Day. She would have been 51 the next month.
