Solomon, I'm the same as you. I must, absolutely must have the tv on. It was an issue for Lou and I for decades. He doesn't like the tv on. This drove us into separate bedrooms at one point. He'd sleep in the guest room when he really needed a good night sleep. It became a habit, but all is good as he's back in the big bed, and I mean BIG bed.

We put two Queen size beds together; then I got Lou this black satin mask thing that wraps around his head and stays on with velcro. It acts as a blindfold and ear muffs, so he doesn't hear or see anything. Problem solved.

I think my very last act in life will be channel searching. :D

If I fall asleep with the television on, I sometimes incorporate whatever show is on into my dreams. Once I fell asleep while 'Your World With Neil Cavuto" was on, and I had a dream that Neil stopped by for dinner. Weird. I prefer to sleep with the TV off, but I rarely happen to doze off while it's on.

I'm with Family Ties Forever. Unless I'm completely exhausted then I can't sleep with the TV on. Lately I've been using ear plugs for complete silence lol. I used them at my boyfriends house and I grew to love them.

 That cracked me up. I think it was the casual way you stated it. I've had tv and movies creep into my dreams as well.

I can't sleep with the television on, as I need complete and total silence and darkness before I can fall asleep.

If it was up to me I would probably turn it off before falling asleep but my wife (of 10 years) likes to fall asleep with it on. Not surprisingly She wins that battle.

A tv running would be too distracting for me. I sleep with a fan running. Even in the winter. I turn it away from me. It drowns out any outside noise. Only one drawback. I would never hear if anyone was breaking into the house. Another thing is that I haven't heard the summer crickets chirping for years! I love to hear that on summer nights. But I still can hear thunderstorms, which I like to hear in the night.:D

LOL Roger!!! That happened to me the other night, I fell asleep on the couch(which I do often) and Golden Girls came on and I had a couple dreams about Betty White!!

This is weird but whenever I stay in a hotel, I tend to leave the TV on all night when I sleep, I guess to drown out any other noise that goes on outside. At home, like I said I fall asleep on the couch, then about 2 or 3 in the morning, I wake up, turn the TV off and go to bed.

Me, too. I have a fan on (set on a timer for about 2 hours).

I also have the radio on (very low volume), also on a timer. I don't like a quiet room. I think one reason is because it was very quiet just before the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

I can't fall asleep with noise in the background and I have to have the room dark. One reason why we do not have a TV in the bedroom.

This used to happen to me all the time! I used to always sleep with the TV on and I would have the craziest TV dreams. It was actually kind of fun. However, I finally got to the point where I was not really getting good sleep. I decided to force myself to learn to sleep with the TV off. It took a while, but now I can't even stand the TV on when I am sleeping. I like the room dark and quiet. I get much better sleep that way.

I can't sleep with a TV or radio on, but I do run a small fan to block the traffic noise.

Good question TV Fact. I agree with Roger. I fall asleep with the TV on and I always dream about the characters in the show. I usually do it with with a DVD in the player. I pick the show I want if I happen to want to dream about that show and those characters. Usually its a TV show. For example. 7th Heaven and I will dream about The characters and its so crazy because they treat me like I am one of them. I never have nightmares because of this. My favorite is Gilligans Island. I dreamed once that Ginger asked me to merry her. Wow that was a dream lol. I also heard that Hospitals will play music when a person goes under for surgery. I heard it relaxes them better. Now for me, the down side of this is, I wake up and my ears are ringing sometimes. They will ring for about 20 minutes before it stops.

Stop making up statistics LOL. Sorry I don't fit that mold. You have a more peaceful sleep without a tv running in the background wasting electricity.

Well just to let you know my TV has a feature that makes the backlight darker which makes the room darker and I have the volume on low

I sleep in absolute quiet. I turn off the movie/show if I'm feeling tired while laying down and watching it.

When I was a teen I used to sleep with my CD player headphones on, but that didn't last long.

Try falling asleep with something like SAW or Hostel on.
