I tried to sample last night but it didn't work out too well because I don't have any knowledge of the characters and usually the 1st episdoe sets the tone for how each character will be the rest of the series.

View Full Version : Is It better to sample this show from the first episode? Marvo301 01-04-2013, 02:50 PM I would say yes. Having recently rewatched the first two seasons and being in the process of rewatching season three I would say it would definitely be good to start from the beginning. gilligan fanatic 01-04-2013, 03:41 PM Don't pay to much attention to Barney's family because you won't see most of them again TVFactFan 01-04-2013, 08:42 PM I would say yes. Having recently rewatched the first two seasons and being in the process of rewatching season three I would say it would definitely be good to start from the beginning. That's what I will try to do then. Not sure if the sunday eps are in the same cycle as the ones on Thursday treky 01-05-2013, 01:44 AM no, I don't think so. TVFactFan 01-05-2013, 08:38 PM Now that is just sad. If they were not on cable then how could i see them? Brieannas21 01-05-2013, 08:41 PM If they were not on cable then how could i see them? Barney Miller was on TVLand, so I don't see how you didn't see it then. TVFactFan 01-05-2013, 08:54 PM Barney Miller was on TVLand, so I don't see how you didn't see it then. It was on TV Land when I didn't have it, I didn't get it until 2000. And if it was on TV Land after 2000 it was never on in primetime so I could sample it Brieannas21 01-05-2013, 08:56 PM It was on TV Land when I didn't have it, I didn't get it until 2000. Well it was on when i could see it. And it's still on when I can't see by it being on sundays. Schmoopie 01-06-2013, 12:38 AM I always introduce myself to television shows by watching from the beginning no matter what show it is. TVFactFan 01-06-2013, 12:44 AM I always introduce myself to television shows by watching from the beginning no matter what show it is. I think that's the best way since you get to see the setup and introduction of the characters. Brieannas21 01-06-2013, 01:40 AM Well it was on when i could see it. And it's still on when I can't see by it being on sundays. I looked up an old TV listing and it use to come on at 8pm on weeknight so it was on when you could catch it  Anyway I never truly got into Barney Miller, I have watched it and that is only because growing up I had no choice since it was one of my moms favorite shows. Schmoopie 01-08-2013, 01:58 AM My dad and I used to watch Barney Miller all the time and also Fish when it used to be on. Haven't watched that in ages!. OH Nuts! 01-17-2013, 08:36 AM I have the first 3 seasons, and right now Antenna is in the middle of S#3. Keeping my eye out for when they begin S#4 and will begin burning it then. It's a great show, and to get the full flavor, I like Andrea's suggestion of starting from the beginning. But that's not always possible - so I'd jump in where I could and just google the show and previous eps. Like said, Barney's family pretty much disappears by S#3. OH Nuts! 01-17-2013, 08:39 AM I have the first 3 seasons, and right now (in NYC) Antenna is in the middle of S#3. Keeping my eye out for when they begin S#4 and will begin burning it then. It's a great show, and to get the full flavor, I like Andrea's (Schmoopie's) suggestion of starting from the beginning. But that's not always possible - so I'd jump in where I could and just google the show and previous eps. Like gilligan fanatic said, Barney's family pretty much disappears as the series progresses. I can't' recall seing them after S #2. Honestly, you'll enjoy the show no matter where you start viewing. BTW, Sol if you get Antenna the Hash ep should be coming up soon. Antenna NYC has it sched for Jan 24. It's a classic (and very funny) ep. The ep is also split up into two segments on you tube so you could see it now if you want. BigManMike 01-17-2013, 12:00 PM I do remember this was on TV Land until about 2003, but it was always on during late night hours, so I never saw it until now. I'm never able to watch it on Sundays since I'm usually at Sunday evening church then, but I've watched it some on Thursdays. I couldn't quite get into it at first, but the more I watch it, the more it makes sense to me, and the more I enjoy it. catlover79 01-25-2013, 01:23 AM I would say yes, because you get to see the characters grow and evolve, especially Wojo and Harris. |
