View Full Version : Which decade??? Mr. Shy Guy 02-05-2002, 08:43 PM Which decade had the greatest shows??? GoldenFamilyTies 02-05-2002, 09:20 PM No doubt in my mind the 80's, but 70's comes close. 60's had excellent shows also. LucyFan 02-05-2002, 10:56 PM I think best decade of shows was either the 1960's or the 1970's. 1960's were great and the ideas and plots were fresh. The 1970's was great as well because the decade changed many people's views on such things. Tiger32 02-05-2002, 11:31 PM The 1970s offered a little bit of something for everyone: Sitcoms: The Odd Couple* Love American Style* Room 222* Sanford and Son* MASH Barney Miller* Taxi The Mary Tyler Moore Show All in the Family The Jeffersons Good Times Newhart What's Happening* Welcome Back Kotter* Happy Days* Three's Company* WKRP* Laverne and Shirley Chico and the Man* Alice Maude Rhoda Phyllis Soap One Day at a Time Eight is enough The Love Boat (well I guess some people like it) Crime Dramas: Columbo* Mannix* Baretta* Ironside Police Woman Charlie's Angels The Rookies The Rockford Files* The Mod Sqad* Streets of Sanfranciso Chips One Adam 12 Kojack Barneby Jones The Night Stalker* Cannon Starsky and Hutch McCloud McMillan and Wife It Takes a Thief The Saint Drama: The Waltons Gunsmoke* Six Million Dollar Man The Bionic Woman Kung Fu (starring David Caradine)* Dallas* Planet of the Apes Apple's Way Family Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman ABC After School Specials CBS Children Film Festival* Battle Star Gallactica Variety: Saturday Night Live (The Not Ready for Primetime Players)* The Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack The Carol Burnett Show* The Dean Martin Show The Dolly Parton Show Hee Haw The Merv Griffin Show (Daytime) The Mike Douglas Show (Daytime) The Flip Wilson Show* Laugh In (started in 60s ran until early 70s) The Sonny and Cher Show* The Tony Orlando and Dawn Show The Donny and Marie Show The Captain and Tennile Show The Sammy Davis Jr. Show The Smothers Brothers Sports: Monday Night Football (premiered in 1970)* ABC Wide World of Sports* CBS Sports Spectacular Friday Night Boxing (many of Ali's fights were on regular TV)* * means one of my all time favorite shows. dawsongirl 02-05-2002, 11:51 PM It's a BIG tossup between the 60s and the 70s. Out of my favs: I Love Lucy- 50s (exception) Adam-12- late 60s- mid 70s Route 66- 60s Hogan's Heroes- 60s Family Feud- mid 70s-mid 80s Match Game- pretty much the 70s I Dream of Jeannie- 60s Monkees- 60s Odd Couple- 70s Emergency!- 70s Dragnet- 60s Sitcomwriter 02-12-2002, 11:54 PM 2000's 1990's 1980's 1970's 1960's 1950's Barnabas1 02-17-2002, 09:30 AM 50s and 60s!!!!! SitcomChick 02-17-2002, 04:05 PM I think each decade had it's fair share of great comedies. For example, The 50s had: I Love Lucy The Honeymooners Leave It To Beaver Father Knows Best The 60s had: I Dream Of Jeannie BeWitched The Munsters The 70s had: The Brady Bunch All In The Family Happy Days Laverne and Shirley Alice The 80s had: Diff'rent Strokes Facts Of Life Family Ties Cheers Cosby Show Silver Spoons The 90s had: Friends Frasier Spin City Full House Home Improvement Boy Meets World Of course, each decade had many more great sitcoms than the ones I listed. Each decade was full of wonderful shows, so I cannot bring myself to pick just ONE decade, because each had soemthing special. Chocoholic 02-17-2002, 04:14 PM I voted for the 80's, but the other decades had shows that I really love too. angel676 02-18-2002, 03:37 AM I think 80's had the greatest shows. Superbatboy 03-03-2002, 05:21 PM My pick was 80's because of: Cosby Show Golden Girls Empty Nest ALF A Different World Roseanne 227 Head Of the Class The Wonder Years Although 60's was close with: Beverly Hillbillies Andy Griffith Lucy Show Dick Van Dyke Carol Burnett Gilligan's Island Brady Bunch There's only a few in the 70's for me: Maude Jefferson's Three's Company One Day at a time Mary Tyler Moore Laverne & Shirley And 50's well.....
