Best of Three's Company-Lucille Ball-part 1

Best of Three's Company-Lucille Ball=part 2

Oh how I wish these two eps can be removed from the syndication package and never released on DVD. lol Lucille Ball just chilling in the trio's apartment doing a flashback LOL Who was the genius who thought of this episode idea?

If I recall, Lucy was a big Three's Company fan, so when it was decided to make a flashback episode, Lucy was asked to host it. Whether it was a good idea or not is a matter of opinion, but that explains why Lucy ended up hosting a Three's Company flashback. It was similar to when they did a retrospective of All In The Family to celebrate the 100th episode, Henry Fonda hosted that one.

This is just my opinion but I think that Flashback should have been something only for ABC back in 82 or DVD

Not in syndication since it's all flashback

I like the bit with her and John, though. It would've been cool to see her actually guest star on the show. I adore Lucille Ball.

Yeah I liked that part too, the last 2 mins of part 2 LOL

I remember that. At the beginning she says something like, "You know what I love about this show? It doesn't try to change the world!" I always felt like that was an indirect diss of All In The Family. Lucille hated All In The Family and campaigned against it.

She probably didn't like AITF because it wasn't a GOOFY SHOW like her show. Three's Company was similar to I Love Lucy because they both had similar comedy styles.

I don't mind the best of, it don't bother me any.

Speaking of AITF, they have a best of in syndication too with Henry Fonda hosting.

Doesn't AITF have 2 best of eps?

I agree 100% with Lucille.

Btw, I think think the best way to handle the Best of Three's Company episode was to make it an additional show and air it another night or the same night after the regular episode or something similar.

Yeah, the one with Fonda was for the 100th episode and Norman Lear hosted one for the 9th season

Yeah like have Lucille guest star in a episode AFTER the flashback

I like the flashback episode, and I love that Lucy hosted it!! :) I too wish that she had guest-starred on the show. How awesome would her and John be together in a physical comedy scene?!?!

I am a big AITF fan, but I have to agree with what Lucy said about Three's Company:

"It didn't set out to change the world. It just made us laugh and that is why we love it."

:D

Fun Fact: Lucille Ball was also a big fan of Cheers and almost guest starred on that too, but opted not to.

I like the Best of show . Just about all hit shows had one or more back in those days. Family Ties had a bunch of them.

They don't really do "best of" or "flashback" episodes anymore. The Golden Girls also did a ton of them.

I didn't know that Lucille Ball was a big fan of Cheers and almost guest-starred!! That would've been awesome too!!

It was fitting that Lucille Ball hosted those retrospective episodes. TC will never have the reverence of "I Love Lucy," but ILL's influence on it is undeniable.

The Golden Girls did, I believe four flashback shows: When Sophia says she's moving; when Blanche considers selling the house; when the president's coming to visit; and when Sophia's accused of starting the Shady Pines fire.

Other "flashback" shows were new segments filmed, to look like flashback episodes.

Flasback episodes are fine if the cast of the show is involved. Like how they did on the Cosby show. Not a comedian inside the huxtable home reflecting back on the show lol

I think it's because there's no reason to. We have re-runs and DVD's and what not now lol.

Yeah, she was going to play Sam's mother? I think? Someone's mother. I believe she pulled out because she felt that people wouldn't be able to look past her as her Lucy character.

I was able to look past her Lucy character on Three's Company since she was acting normal:lol:

Cheers was an awesome show...that would've been EPIC!!! :D

I'm trying to think of the last show I remember that did a "flashback" or "best of" episode. It pretty much died out in the 90's, I guess. It seemed to be more of a 70s/80s thing.

Clip shows are almost always awful. Even if there is new material surrounding the clips, like in The Golden Girls for example, I just watch those new parts and fast forward through the clips.

That sounds like a strange reason. I mean if that's the way she felt then why did she bother to accept any non-Lucy acting roles at all?

A couple of very early ILL episodes were also episodes for TC.

There was one ILL episode where Lucy thinks a mink coat is for her. On TC, Chrissy thought a mink coat was for her.
In another ILL episode, Lucy and Ricky are handcuffed together. Jack & Chrissy are handcuffed together.

Also, there were a few misunderstanding episodes on ILL. On TC, almost every episode is about a misundersanding.

Wow I would have never known that since I never could get into ILL

You are so right!!!!

But I think that the getting handcuffed is actually a sitcom staple now!!!   How many sitcoms have featured an episode where a character accidentally gets handcuffed to another and they can't find the key?!! ;) ;)

On TC, Jack and Chrissy didn't have to spend the night locked in handcuffs.

On ILL, the only one person who could unlock Lucy & Ricky wouldn't come until the morning. A good part of the episode was Lucy & Ricky trying to get comfortable in their beds.
