Or is "The Voice" and "Sunday Night Football" making the Peacock's recovery look stronger than it is?

lol It's like 95% thanks to The Voice. Without it, Go On would be at Thursday night comedy levels (it fell big during the one week where The Voice was a recap show) and Revolution would probably be no more than a middling hit, if that. The rest of their line-up is still a disaster. Bob Greenblatt is not a savior just because he stumbled into a high-rated reality show, and he's running it into the ground just like Silverman/Zucker did with The Apprentice and Deal or No Deal.

Their #1 placement has also been helped by the fact that the other networks have fallen big this year, down to their level. And it's going to disappear when The Voice goes away for four months.

And they're taking Revolution off for 4 months, Whatever momentum it has will be lost by then.

Between the two cycles of The Voice, NBC is going to fall...HARD.

Mondays:
The Biggest Loser - 2.0
Deception - 1.7

Tuesdays:
Betty White - 1.8
Go On - 1.9
The New Normal - 1.6
Smash - 1.7

Wednesdays:
Whitney - 1.6
Guys with Kids - 1.4
SVU - 1.6
Chicago Fire - 1.6

Thursdays:
Community - 1.4
Parks and Rec - 1.6
The Office - 1.9
1600 Pen - 1.4
Rock Center - 1.0

Fridays:
Encores - 0.8-1.1
Grimm - 1.8
Dateline - 1.2

Sundays:
Dateline - 1.2
Apprentice - 1.9

NBC hasn't announced all of its midseason schedule, so the pieces that are missing are what is currently airing.

That is a lot of sub 2.0 shows. I think these numbers are the best at what their product will do. Without The Voice, it's a lot of bad news.

I would think they'd want The Voice for February sweeps, the end of March is really late for it to come back.

I HOPE NBC DIES AND DROWNS IN A SEA OF HELLFIRE.

I'M SICK OF THE DAMN VOICE TAKING OVER THE TIME SLOTS OF MY PROGRAMS I WON'T STAND FOR IT. JUST MOVE ALL OF YOUR SHOWS TO FOX AND LET THEM DIE IN PEACE BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PROMOTE THEM, YOU USELESS HACK OF A NETWORK.

Oh, what's that? Why yes, I am in a rage at NBC because they are doing this with The Voice again. God damn American Idol rip-off CRAP.

This seems accurate, if not even a little generous. NBC would piss their pants if Whitney could maintain a 1.6 average.

I also think Sunday Night Football is responsible for a lot of it. They draw great ratings and get the best games because of the flex scheduling. So there in a good position whenever you get the NFL on your network. Also, I think believe or not, Norte Dame being very good this year has helped them as well because a lot of people are watching Norte Dame this year.

Based on what I've seen below with the ratings w/o The Voice, NBC needs a couple of shows to anchor The Voice because what if The Voice ratings falter? What do you do then?

The sports fan in me will say they should pick up more sports. The NHL is on strike but I can see them picking up some Big East basketball or any sports when it becomes available. They might have to go that route because nothing else seems to work. Eventually, no matter how good the shows are, if nobody watches them, they'll get cancelled.

Yes, a lot of the revival is due to The Voice and Sunday Night Football but they have had football for years and it hasn't made much of a difference. As for The Voice, one show CAN change an entire network, look at American Idol for FOX 10 years ago. It was the groundwork that led to success with shows like House, 24, Bones, Glee, etc.

I think they are turning things around but it's a process. They were smart to focus on the first three nights and not worry about Thursday yet. They can't fix everything at once. The new shows aren't tanking like past years even though not all are hits. Revolution actually is a hit so far, Go On has done pretty well, The New Normal is low but has its audience, Guys with Kids is low but has built on its lead-in, same for Chicago Fire. That's a more solid freshman class than they have had since... I don't even remember when. So it's a long way to go, but I think they're heading in the right direction and the same can't be said for the other networks right now.

Guys with Kids is low but has built on its lead-in.Of course it built on its lead-in, weaker competition from ABC.

But FOX was smart with Idol, keeping it to once a year to make it more of a hyped "event". NBC isn't showing the same smarts with The Voice, which is why I think it'll go more in the way of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and Deal or No Deal rather than American Idol.

When the Office leaves after this season NBC will be DONE

Football and The Voice are making them look better, but it will be short term. Football season will end and The Voice will burn out because of the nature of that type of show. I suspect that "Revolution" filmed only an initial run of episodes to hold down cost in case it failed. They are also probably trying to keep a constant stream of episodes since the story has arcs like "Lost" did and reruns and long breaks from consecutive episodes are an issue. Last week's "Revolution" episode was obvious filler with very little to advance the plot trying to get to a point to take the break.

Of the NBC sitcoms, I watch The Office, 30 Rock, Up All Night, and The New Normal. All of these shows will (most likely) be gone this Spring.

Maybe they're banking on the Michael J. Fox sitcom? I hope they have a great new show planned for next Fall. I can't see any of the current sitcoms "breaking out" more than they already have.

I maybe done with NBC completely this time next year because they are playing around with Whitney and the Office will be gone and those are the only 2 comedies I watch on the network.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They're going to lose me too if they don't have a comedy I'm interested in next year.

Well, in ANY case....

NBC Wins First November Sweep Since 2003!

http://www.deadline.com/2012/11/nbc-wins-first-november-sweeps-since-2003/

It’s been nine long years, but NBC’s primetime lineup has made the network No. 1 in this year’s November sweeps. “This is the first time we’ve been this happy in a long time,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said today. “It is possible to move the needle. There is a spring in our step.” When NBC last topped November sweeps in 2003, it was showing The West Wing, Friends and ER. Now, with 25 of 28 nights counted, NBC has moved up from last year’s fourth spot to first. The network is averaging a 2.8 rating this fall, up 17% compared with the network’s 2.4 at the conclusion the November 2011 sweep. This year’s sweep started October 25 and ends tomorrow. Coming off the summer lead-in of the Olympics, the continuing success of Sunday Night Football and The Voice, plus strong numbers for the new Revolution and Go On, NBC has been solid week after week.

Among the four networks, NBC saw its adults 18-49 and Live+Same Day 18-49 number go up from last year while CBS, ABC and Fox saw declines. Fox went from the top spot of 3.1 to No. 3 with 2.4, down 26%. CBS went from 2.8 to second place with 2.4, down 14%. ABC went from 2.5 last year to fourth this year with 2.2, down 12%.

With the absence of football, The Voice and Revolution in the next three months, Greenblatt said in a conference call Tuesday that he anticipates a drop-off. “I’d be astonished if we ended up to be No. 1 with some of the firepower the other networks have,” he said of the end of the season. “Third place would be a triumph for us but beyond that I’m not willing to go there yet.”

Greenblatt also had some answers about upcoming NBC shows, specifically Hannibal and The Sound of Music. “The question will be do we have room for it, to launch it in April before the season ends or should we hold it to the summer. A bunch of things have to play out before we can make that determination,” he said of the thriller series with Mads Mikkelson playing Hannibal Lector. On the live broadcast of The Sound of Music produced by Smash’s Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, Greenblatt said “I think we are close to finding our Maria and as soon as we have that in place we will announce it with great fanfare.” He added that the special would likely air this time next year, Christmas of ’13.” The NBC executive also said today there are plans in development to keep Revolution alive during the break with original content that could possibly end up online or some other digital platform. “We’re feeling a sense of relief and excitement about what is to come,” Greenblatt said about the new year.

It's going to be a tight race between CBS, FOX, and NBC this year, I think. There's no doubt NBC is going to be back in fourth come winter, they just need to hope that their spring can help them bounce back. I'm not confident it will, but we'll see.

FOX has been having a terrible year, but Idol will probably be strong enough to keep it in contention for the top slot, unless it sees really significant declines (it could). CBS is still probably the strongest network overall, but they're definitely not looking as mighty as they were even a year ago.

Poor ABC is perpetually in third. I think it boils down to them not really having a massive hit like Idol or The Voice to cover up their holes. They have Modern Family, but that's not really enough.
