You would be forced to make a program decision because you would have no options of seeing another show at that particular time at all. You could only ask others how the show is since it was no way to record the show. That must have sucked back in the day to know you HAD to make a decision and stick with it:lol:

So I guess shows that were in the top ten 40 years ago because I know people's expectations were a lot higher back then due to the limited options. And I thought of this because right now I want to watch 2 Broke Girls but decided to watch On Demand tomorrow since something else is on at 9pm.

Aren't you happy today is October 8, 2012?

Very much so!! Now if you have two (or more) shows in the same time-slot, you can breathe easy knowing there's DVR, On Demand, Hulu, Netflix, Network Streaming, etc. You have multiple watching options. :)
Nowadays with the network time-slots being so competitive, there's always a chance of having at least one or two shows I like being on at the same time.

I felt like they (networks) gave shows more of a chance back then and a longer life too. It's sad to think of all the shows in recent years that have had potential that were per-maturely canceled due to low ratings.

We only had CBS in 1972 which worked out okay. I only wished we had NBC in 1974 so we could watch Kolchak The Night Stalker. The family finally got a new floor model TV with cable and color in 1975 Woohoo

Try the CBS website? You should be able to watch shows on there.
Or try Hulu.
Although I think it takes at least a day for them to add it, even On Demand. Check back tomorrow.

No the show is not listed on Demand at all. And Hulu.com doesn't work on my laptop for some reason.

When I tried to watch Rhoda on Hulu.com I was unsuccessful but when I watched on youtube.com i had no issues

Yeah, basically. Right now all advertisers care about are the live numbers (and networks are slowly convincing them to take some DVR numbers into account too).

But it's pretty ridiculous to pull on demand/online viewing if you ask me. You can't stop technology. All that's going to accomplish is a spike in illegal downloading.

These are the current CBS comedies on Demand

Big Bang Theory
Two and a Half Men

Mike and Molly, How I met Your Mother, and Two Broke Girls are not on there

On CBS.com, Two Broke girls is only available in Clips.

I wish you could have thought of this a week ago, because a week ago last Friday was September 28, and 40 years ago on Sept. 28, 1972 was the greatest day in Canadian sports history, the day that "Henderson has scored for Canada!". Last week the entire game was replayed on TSN and I taped it. Now I can watch it again on demand anytime I want. You can too if you go to Youtube and type "Team Canada 1972". I'm not too sure what October 8 represents and what was so special about it. According to TVTango.com, CBS had an interesting Sunday lineup featuring "MASH", "The Sandy Duncan Show", "Mannix", and "The New Dick Van Dyke Show". That's about it. Nothing special. Not even one-tenth as exciting as Sept. 28. You can keep your October fantasy. I can still watch mine!

It was more about the year not so much the actual day. Saying that for that time people didn't have the option of watching their show the next day. I created the thread because my plan was to watch a CBS show today since football was on last night

We had ABC, CBS, NBC, 20, 36, 44. The last three were independent stations where old movies, wrestling, the bullfights, and cartoons were shown. You definately had to be home at night to see your favorite show. Everything that was on then are now classics, what a trip!

The ONLY thing better about television nowadays is the fact that you can watch a program when you want, and there are things like DVDs etc..--In the 1970s there was so much good stuff on TV,that even if you missed your favorite show once in a while, the next time you turned on the TV chances are there would be something else good playing, maybe not your favortie show but even so, television in almost every way was so much better then.

Yup, if you missed Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley was next

If you missed All in the Family, The Jeffersons was next

If you missed Rhoda, Maude was next

Yeah, back then if you had 2 or 3 things on at once, you were screwed. Now, there are plenty of viewing options but hardly anything worth watching. I remember many times have two TVs on at once trying to watch 2 shows at a time. What was bad was when you got 3 shows at one time. I remember one Saturday night when it was the Winter Olympics, a great wrestling show and a hockey game. Didn't have 3 TVs so we had to do a lot of channel changing.

Back in the 70's , networks actually aired reruns during the summer so we could catch up on shows during the summer. I also remember staying up late at night also watching ABC Latenight. They would air reruns of Baretta, Starsky & Hutch, Police Woman and other shows after the late local news. I'd be up until 2 am. lol

I guess maybe because I'm older I see it differently. We only had 3 channels when I was a kid. We had ABC, CBS, and NBC.

In 1972 I was 16 years old and we still didn't have many channels, we had the same antenna, it was not a problem. We knew when 'our shows' came on and we sat down and watched them.

We didn't have a VCR, DVD, Tivo or Hopper and we survived. Actually I must be the only here that would return to those days in a heartbeat because we had great shows on every single night. I wouldn't give you a nickle for the shows on those same channels now.

In 1972, I was not watching that much TV because I was outside playing a lot. Or in school.

When I was watching TV, it was mainly cartoons and reruns of shows like The Flintstones, Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch and Bewitched. I still remember Saturday morning cartoons.

They were better times when society was fairer and more together. As soon as Dallas and Dynasty took to our screens the wealthy started to emulate them and the idea of paying your fair share of taxes went out of the window,as people like Romney stripped your country of good manufacturing jobs outsourcing(canning)jobs to China,he got paid in capital gains, corporations didn't pay their fair share, and now he has the nerve to tell us he's going to get tougher on China..
