View Full Version : Where Are They Now?
cablejockey 02-03-2002, 01:29 PM I used to watch this show long ago and it was one of my favorites. I'm wondering what happened to them, I know the "Greg Bentley" went on to a couple of very popular shows---Charlie's Angels and Dynasty---but what of the rest of the cast?
DanaPointGal 04-14-2002, 09:08 PM Bernadette Withers, who played Ginger, lives in Southern California, working as a Partner Manager for a large software company.
Hi,
Just found this site. A couple years ago, I searched everywhere for anything on Bachelor Father. Wasn't much out there. I also started a Yahoo news group, but nobody ever joined... :-( As for Sammee Tong, I read somewhere he committed suicide in the early 60s. I don't know anything more about it though. He was my favorite character too (other than Kelly, who I had a crush on)
And I also know Kelly was in a 60s girl group for a while.
Other than that, does anyone have tapes of the show they want to trade? I have quite a few, but I'm dying to get my hands on as many as I can!

mister bluster 11-14-2002, 10:49 PM Speaking of Bernadette Withers, was she related to Jane?
ficlopri 07-20-2003, 10:21 PM No. The two actresses are not related. Bernadette was very pretty but not that good at acting. She seemed like she was in another world than everyone else while on BF.
Bentley 07-20-2004, 04:08 PM I wouldn't say she was pretty. She was cute in a pie face way. She seemed to act very natural on the show. I thought she was perfect in a non threatening way. One ep when Kelly ran for Pres. She was snotty to a girl who deserved it. In a cute way though she got her point across. For yrs I thought Bernadette and Jane were mother/daughter they resemble each other!!!

Take it up with Internet Movie Database, which says Bernadette "Is the niece of Jane Withers, 'Josephine the Plumber' on TV commercials for Comet cleanser in the 1960s."

As far as Bernadette being "very pretty," I'd say ***'* ***** ** ****** ** ***** ****.
TV Knowledge Fan 12-08-2006, 05:50 PM ...committed suicide in January 1965 (while appearing as a supporting player on Mickey's Rooney's ABC sitcom, "MICKEY") because he was involved in a BIG gambling debt that he knew he'd never be able to pay off. Apparently, the renewal of "MICKEY" for the entire 1964-'65 season hinged on Tong's availability. Both died at the same time.
Noreen Corcoran eventually retired from show business, and is living a quiet life these days. Ditto John Forsythe.
:tv:
treky 12-13-2006, 03:01 AM John Forsythe also did the voice of Charlie in the two CHARLIES ANGELS movies.
Rezny@gmail.com 04-02-2010, 11:50 PM Sadly,John Forsythe died yesterday (4-1-2010,and gang,it's no april fools joke)at 92.Hey,by the way, does anyone remember Forsythe's OTHER two lesser-known shows NBC's"The John Forsythe Show"from 1965-1966 which started out as a comedy, but the comedy format was scrapped at midseason and it became a spy drama, and CBS'1969-1971 comedy "To Rome With Love"?
treky 04-03-2010, 03:53 AM yes, I remember "TO ROME WITH LOVE". I used to like that show; it was from Don Federson productions which also had 2 other shows at the time-"FAMILY AFFAIR" & MY 3 SONS". I remember once they did a crossover episode with "MY THREE SONS" and another time they did a crossover episode with "FAMILY AFFAIR".
I wish the show was on DVD!!
cmulwee001 02-02-2012, 07:46 AM I think Bernadette was a gifted comedienne. Her facial expressions, and flair for physical comedy were good for a laugh now and then. Out of her and Noreen, Bernadette was the cut up and Noreen was the straight one. Hate that Ms. Withers' career never took off

I agree. I also caught Bernadette Withers in an episode of "The Adventures Of Ozzie & Harriet," playing a very smart new neighbor girl of David Nelson and his wife, June, Withers' character smitten by David and the situation of David having to get Withers' character to fall out-of-love with him.

She was a character actress--probably on a lot of shows. I know she was in at least one Beaver, and was probably on the Real McCoys, along with the appearances above.

Ah, how young and foolish I was, taking at face value information posted at imdb. Such youthful innocence!
Well...maybe not so much....
As far as Bernadette being "very pretty," I'd say she's about as pretty as Mindy Cohn.
Now you know.

imdb may not always be correct, but in this instance, I think it's hard to deny they're related:

Mr. Television 10-26-2013, 03:48 PM Wow. Thank you. :) It's always interesting to see what these stars look like decades later.

You're welcome. I love looking at these pictures. That old expression, "pictures speak a thousand words," really applies here. I do not know anything at all about Noreen Corcoran as a person, but what these pictures convey to me is that, first and foremost, she is the real deal; there's nothing fake about her. She turned 70 years old this past Sunday, and she looks the way a healthy, happy woman of her age is supposed to look. That's a good thing. She seems very comfortable in her own skin. She's not trying to be something she's not; she's not trying to live in the past. Yet the fact that, behind her, she has those pictures of her much younger self with John Forsythe tells me she's also not trying to run away from her past, either, as many former child celebrities do. So all around, that makes me thinks she's an emotionally balanced person, accepting of her past, present and future. The kind of person I think would be a joy to hang out with.
Her television career ended just a few years after Bachelor Father. I don't know if that was her decision, or something beyond her control due to typecasting. But whatever the case, I get the sense that she accepted the change in the course of her life and found happiness elsewhere. And never was tempted into the Hollywood fakery (plastic surgery, attention seeking, etc.) to maintain a high profile career. So good for her!
