lol I didn't know you liked the show that much.

While I wouldn't put it past AITF, it was definitely one of the best shows of the 1970's. It's sad that the show has been scarcely seen in syndication.

Sonny I think it's a hit now in syndication since it has been moved to the 8pm slot. And I'm surprised I;m saying this but If I had to choose between AITF and Maude, Maude all the way.

Actually when it comes to Norman Lear Sitcoms now I have maude at #2

Have you watched the whole series? The last season to me wasn't that good, you could tell that it was the last season, especially the last few episodes.

You'd also want Maude in your corner because she was a hell of a lot smarter and articulate than Archie Bunker!

I totally agree with you Sonny. While Maude is a fine show, it does fall short of iconic AITF, imo anyways.

That being said though, Maude could be a riot. And it's there for the having on Antenna TV.

Mike Stivick was the biggest loser, whiner, complainer on AIIF. I couldn't stand that guy. Gloria whined and complained a lot too. I like Carol from Maude a lot better than Gloria. Maude was definitely a LOT smarter than Archie, but I do like AIIF a bit more than Maude.

BTW, Carol was HOT back in the day! Perfect everything on that girl! :)

Seasons two through four have aired uncut albeit time-compressed (still no footage missing except a few end credits) on a number of occasions on canadian Deja View.

Unfortunatly seasons 5 and 6 have random edits on Deja View, but different cuts than Tv Land and US syndication.

I'm patient for now to wait for uncut eps since the entire series is on youtube and airing on Antenna TV. I only crave a DVD release if the show is not being shown anywhere so for now I;m content.

Not to me. While Edith and Archie were clearly the heart of AITF, Mike and Gloria made decent contributions. Maude was a little bit funnier than AITF but AITF is still by far the better show. I think it tackled controversial issues more thoroughly than Maude, and with AMAZING sensitivity.

Maude is definitely a very fine show, and I enjoy it very much, but AITF is a MASTERPIECE.

I enjoyed Maude's debut on AITF she could match Archie insult for insult. Loved the end Archie yells "Cream of wheat and cheese"? WRONG AGAIN Maude. He runs upstairs for the bathroom.

I've always loved Maude! I would buy the series if available...maybe Time Life will release the complete series. I think I read somewhere that the muisc is what's holding up the releases because Maude and Walter were always going around the house singing something. Time Life just recently got the rights to do China Beach so there is a possibility.

DVD released don't even matter at this point because of the 2 reasons below

1.The series is complete on youtube
2. The show airs every night on Antenna TV

But the show is not dead which is a good thing. There are some shows from the same era that are not on youtube, digital TV, cable TV or DVD which are

ALice
One Day at a Time
Welcome Back Kottter

All three of those shows right now are dead in syndication and missing on DVD but that's not the case for Maude

And there aren't even any bootlegs of Alice or Welcome Back Kotter available, and the bootlegs of One Day at a Time are only complete through Season 4 and have a small handful of episodes from Seasons 5-9.

Opinions can change. I never did like Roseanne a long time ago but a few Years later I was watching it again and got into it. Part of it may have been that the first episode I ever saw was a episode form Later season then when I saw it again it was from the early seasons.

I wish they would release it on DVD but after the 1st season was released years ago without the hint of season 2 I doubt that there are any plans.

What I do wish is that they would sell the rights to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc...it seems like such a no-brainer! They can profit off of the show without investing in DVDs that might underperform. Seems so ridiculous that in this day and age that there is a television show that is available and yet people can't get legal access to it.

I already have all episodes downloaded thanks to an old (not official) source...again my point was about legal access, not that it's impossible to get any access to it. But what is available is low quality and edited for syndication. I prefer to watch a show on my TV vs a computer screen, I'm sure I'm not alone.

That maybe true but there are still some shows that are not on DVD, syndication, or youtube so I think fans of Maude should be thankful they have the two options below

1. Record all the edited eps from Antenna TV

2. Watch all the edited eps on youtube

Fans of shows like welcome back kotter can't watch the show

in syndication, on DVD, or youtube

What does that have to do with anything? This is a post about Maude on DVD so the comments are going to be about people wanting more Maude options...I'm sorry that other people don't have as many avenues to watch their favorite old shows as we do, I've been there, but it doesn't mean that fans of Maude should lower their expectations or standards because other shows' releases have been poorly executed.

Who says the people commenting here aren't thankful? Being thankful doesn't mean we have to be complacent.

You seem very bitter about your own favorite shows not being available. Don't take it out on us.

Again, if you had read my comment you would know what I am talking about; VOD/Netflix/Hulu are new ways for studios to monetize their holdings without the investment of a DVD release. Years ago I would have been pessimistic about further Maude releases but now I wouldn't be surprised if these older shoes begin to becomes more and more available digitally.
