View Full Version : I know it's still premature but what 90's show should be on Nick at N/TV Land
factsoflife 03-06-2001, 04:02 PM i know that it is very prematuere, since the 90's just ended and nick at nite has just started to regonize the 80's series.. but i was wondering what shows from the 90's should be on nick at nite/ tv land int he futuere... my picks are:
Ally mcbeal- ally has left such an indeilable mark on society
picket fences- a classic show if ever there was one.
party of five- one of the best dramsas ever!
mad about you ( except for that horribel finale season.)
the nanny- a total classic sitcom .
Titania 03-06-2001, 09:20 PM Picket Fences is on TNN now if Im not mistaken.
I'd say:
The Nanny- it is a classic, even if her voice annoys me http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
Home Improvement- I love that show even if the later eps werent as good
Seinfeld- While its not one of my faves, it is a classic
hmmm, im not sure what else. There werent that many really good classic 90s shows. But its all better than this new millennium reality television!

Johnny: Don't you people get it? It's the phone cops!!
Andy: There is no such thing as phone cops!
Johnny: Oh sure. Cover for them!
JohnMcMillin 03-07-2001, 03:09 PM way too soon, but in 15-20 years, I think we'll see these shows on N@N/TV Land or at least TNN.
Seinfeld
Friends
Mad About You
Wings
Grace Under Fire
Ellen
Dharma And Greg
Everybody Loves Raymond
factsoflife 03-07-2001, 04:39 PM what about 90's shows like DAWSONS CREEK, FELICITY or BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.. do you think they will still be on the air in 15 or 20 years?
factsoflife 03-31-2001, 06:23 PM Frasier will definatley be on. so will mad about you and, maybe even will and grace.
callmetootie 03-31-2001, 06:45 PM They won't be able to air shows like Party Of Five or Beverly Hills 91210, because if they won't show facts of life episodes like when Nat loses her virginity or they use cocaine, they would have to like edit out half of the series becuase those WB/UPN shows always deal with sex-related topics. I can't see Ally McBeal on Nick At Nite ever, because the show mentions strong adult topics. Seinfeld, Mad About You, and The Nanny are airing in reruns already! Seinfeld is on Fox and WB. The Nanny shows on UPN in most of the states, along with Mad About You. Cheers is coming to Nick At Nite in 2007 I think. That's on reruns too though. Family Ties starts in September though.

Freakzilla 03-31-2001, 07:43 PM Andrew, you're way off about Cheers. Cheers is coming to N@N this fall, not 2007.
The '90's show I think should be on N@N is NewsRadio. One of the best sitcoms of the decade. A show that should have gotten a lot more recognition. And, even in it's somewhat lamented post-Phil Hartman final season with Jon Lovitz, the show was still one of the funniest sitcoms on the air.
Pavan 04-01-2001, 07:21 PM Yes Cheers is slated for this October.
As for 90's shows I just don't see any airing on Nick at Nite or TV Land. None of them I consider classics. As for Ally McBeal on Nick at Nite, that will NEVEr happen, becuase it is a 1 hour show.
Ally McBeal, Buffy, and The Practice are heading to fX cable I heard either this year or next.
APPLEI 04-02-2001, 01:28 AM SEINFELD WOULD BE PERFECT FOR NICK AT NITE!
PomeranzFan1 04-02-2001, 10:42 AM How about.....The Simpsons??
------------------
Balki: "Well, I'll be snookered!" ;)
callmetootie 04-02-2001, 12:29 PM THey can't show The Simpsons because of 2 things: one being that the content of the episodes is very adult, and another thing being that The Simpsons is animated and they have never tried that before.

AngryChairOwner 04-02-2001, 12:47 PM This thread just reminds me of how many excruciatingly painful shows entered primetime in the 90's. The WB and UPN are networks geared towards nothing but abercrombie and fitch wearing pre-pubescents whose idea of quality television is how cute the main characters are. I've yet to see a show on the WB that isn't built around the main charcter(s)' looks. Charmed, Dawson's Creek, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc., are pure trash. Don't get me started the Fox influx of the vexatious teen dramas back in the early 90's, with crap like Beverly Hills 90210, Models Inc., Melrose Place, etc. Then there's the "office setting" sitcom invasion of the mid 90's, with filth like Suddenly Susan, Spin City, Ally Mcbeal, etc. You gotta love the way these Network execs will shamelessy jump on any trendy bandwagon (this reality tv phase is an excellent example). About the only shows worth watching in the 90's all actually premiered in the 80's; The Wonder Years, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, Married With Children, The Golden Girls, etc.
factsoflife 04-09-2001, 04:52 PM Well, i think that Felicity is about more than her looks as is popular... i agree with u about 90210, models inc and melrose place and even about suddenly susan ... but the 90's also brought some great shows like Will and Grace and Mad About You and of course... Seinfeild.

factsoflife 04-20-2001, 12:59 AM ok, i agree that nick at nite probrally won't ever air party of five or ally mcbeal, but i hope that some network willa ir them someday, ecspecially part of five because it was and still is a wonderful show and i and many others miss it terribly. ally is ok, but is way overplayed as it is.
Pavan 04-20-2001, 09:18 AM Part of Five is on Lifetime isn't it? Early in the morning though I think.
Ally is coming to fX this fall I think.
Chocoholic 04-20-2001, 07:43 PM I think they should show Wings, NewsRadio, The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Cheers (hey, it was on for a few seasons in the 90's).

party of five was airing at one am on lifetime, but back in December lifetime dropped it, so it is not currently airing at all.

just because they have never done it before doesn't mean they can't try it in the future.

Although i agree that many of the shows in the 90's were pure crap, there were many, many excellant shows in the 90's take for example, mad about you, Grace under fire, will and grace and my so-called life. Also, ALLY MCBEAL was anything but a trendy wannabe, as when ALLY MCBEAL came out it was completely different and original, than anything on tv at the time, and it was a show that made people pay attention and talk! it was and still is a great show, it is not ally's fault that everyone tried to copy her, like Felicity- Ally Mcbeal the college years as some have called it and the up coming inside schwartz.

James 08-14-2001, 12:06 AM The only 1990s shows I can think of that deserve a spot on N@N are the following:
"Family Matters"
"Home Improvement"
"Step By Step"
"Touched By An Angel"
If not for them, perhaps reruns of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?".
James 08-14-2001, 12:22 AM I forgot to mention "The Wonder Years" since it was on in the 1990s for a majority of its run!!! (I tend to think of 1990s shows as those that started between 1990 and 1999--TWY started in 1988.)

I agree 100 percent!
The only 90s shows that deserve to be on N@N are the 80s family shows that entered the decade of trashy office shows.
The Hogan Family
Full House
The Cosby Show
Roseanne
Growing Pains
All those shows mentioned from the 90s are DUMB!Every single one of them!
Everybody Loves Raymond-I just found out that WB38 is replacing Simpsons reruns of the 80s/early 90s with this show.I hate this show forever now.I beleive that the only way a show can rerun while still being on air is for that show to complete 7 seasons.
Ally McBeal-I know I'll hate this show.I mean who cares about logical comedy?
Malcolm in the Middle-Great show! The only great show out there simply because it ain't around the workplace!
The Jeff Foxwrothy Show-I love this show!I remember it being in USAM.
Just Shoot Me-Workplace.......nuff siad.
Will and Grace-Since when have classic TV fans laugh at someone because they are gay?Not the stuff to make a human being.
Frasier-Spun off from Cheers and this show is stupid!I mean since when did Frasier have a fake British accent?I mean it is soooooooooooo stupid!Never watch Frasier!
Friends-It is an OK show.
That proves my point right there!
And that's the reason why I NEVER watch current tv.
ClassicTVHits 08-14-2001, 01:31 PM I think eventually on Nick at Nite we will see shows like Home Improvement and 3rd Rock from the Sun.

How can I forget "Perfect Strangers"?
factsoflife 08-15-2001, 06:44 PM i cannot believe that i forgot to metion, Murphy Brown, and Desining Women, both of which ran into the 90's. Murphy ended in 1998 and Desining ended in 1993.

factsoflife 08-20-2001, 02:14 AM what is so bad about a show being st in the workplace? i mena some of hte best shows of all time were set in the work place, Cheers, Mary Tyler Moore, and Lou Grant, just to name a few.

Jo- Blair, i thought you liked that song?
Blair- i do
Jo- then why are you doing that to it?
Blair- doing what?
Jo- Sining it like Julie Andrews!

Homicide: Life on the Street should be on TV Land because I'm dying to see all the episodes and I don't have Court TV.
I meant the ones that were made ENTIRLY in the 90s.Like Suddenly Susan,Just Shoot Me....the list goes on.
Will and Grace Fanatic 05-24-2002, 11:14 AM I think Nick at Nite should show 90's shows in the year 2010 because it is to soon to do 90's shows and they should only show 90's shows in 2010 that ended in the 90's.
Jordan 05-27-2002, 11:25 AM I would like to see "Dinosaurs," "Will & Grace," "The Nanny," & "Ellen" on N@N. I'd also like to see "Veronica's Closet," but I don't think there's any chance of that happening... :(
:happyface :happyface :happyface
jayman75 05-27-2002, 11:44 AM Although it's not necessarily a sitcom, this show is a classic among classics.
The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
Hands down, best late-night show ever. If you've never seen it, you can't believe what you are missing.
Central Perk 05-27-2002, 11:57 AM Maybe Wings, I've never seen it but if its like Cheers or Frasier I'd probably like it. Home Improvement would be good on N@N too.
Sitcomwriter 05-28-2002, 10:09 PM They NEED Ally Mcbeal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and The Red Green Show!
