View Full Version : Sitcom families that broke boundaries TMC 09-14-2012, 02:07 AM http://www.flavorwire.com/326340/tv-sitcoms-most-boundary-breaking-families?all=1 From "The Jeffersons" to "I Love Lucy." Buffyboy323 09-14-2012, 02:22 AM I've never seen the sitcom Julia. But I agree with everything else.... I Love Lucy The Brady Bunch All In The Family The Jeffersons One Day at a Time Good Times Soap The Cosby Show Growing Pains Married...With Children The Simpsons Roseanne Murphy Brown Arrested Development George Lopez Modern Family Up All Night Why aren't FAMILY TIES, GIMME A BREAK!, and DIFF'RENT STROKES mentioned on this list? Those shows are completely about boundary-breaking families! comedyfreak 09-14-2012, 11:35 PM I've never seen the sitcom Julia. But I agree with everything else.... It was one of my favorite shows, TVLand use to play Julia on the weekends in the morning with The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Ryan Chamberlain 09-24-2012, 05:18 AM That writer apparently hasn't done his/her homework. Because, the Evanses from Good Times never moved to Mississippi! They almost did. But, James died before the move. The show always stayed in the Chicago projects. Until the series finale. When they finally got some money to move out of the projects. Schmoopie 09-24-2012, 07:00 AM Yep, I'd agree with most of these. Haven't seen many of the later shows listed though. LittleRickyII 09-24-2012, 09:20 PM Yep, I'd agree with most of these. Haven't seen many of the later shows listed though. One comment: the writer refers to the Ricardos' marriage as biracial. Lucy and Ricky were of different ethnicities, not different races. Okay, I know it was still a big deal in 1951 to present a married couple who were of different ethnic backgrounds, but race and ethnicity are not necessarily the same thing. |
