View Full Version : May-December Romances
dawsongirl 02-01-2002, 11:33 PM Would you date (or marry) a person who was say 10+ years older than you, or, if applicable, 10+ years younger than you?
Right now, at 22, I definitely wouldn't go that much younger  , but I don't think I'd have a problem going older. If we really were in love, I don't see a problem with it. My dad is another story. I think he'd be a tad peeved if I brought home a 40 year old. ;)
DJM77 02-02-2002, 12:26 AM I'm 24 now. At this point in my life I would refuse to date anyone that was 6+ years younger than me or 3+ years older than me.
sue z q 02-02-2002, 02:47 AM I would definetly date someone 10+ years older than me...I find maturity attractive, and I don't meet many mature guys my age...LOL (no offense to the mature guys here ;) ) But not 10 years younger...no way could I deal with that...LOL
nancysbiggestfan 02-02-2002, 12:24 PM Well, right now I'm 13 (14 March 28th), and I don't think I would date anyone younger. Just because of the fact most (notice MOST lol) of the guys at my age aren't THAT mature. There is like 1 or 2 boys in the entire 8th grade at school that. As for older, yeah I would date someone older. But at this point, not too much older a few years though. ;) Now, my parents may not exactly agree with that but oh well...
Mossopp 02-02-2002, 01:27 PM I dunno - I usually tend to stick with folk round-about my own age. Although I guess it would depend on the person. For example, if Drew Barrymore asked me out, I wouldn't say 'no' just cos she's 7 years older than me. Know what I mean?
And I'm certainly not bothered about what my parents would think of the situation so that's not an issue either.
I'm 19 though, and I really couldn't see myself in a relationship with someone who's hitting 30!
This reminds me of a line from 'Zoe' -
ZOE - "I thought you liked older women"
JACK - "Yeah, that was before I saw one naked!!"
 :rotflmao:
Penny Lane 02-02-2002, 01:34 PM My husband is 7 years older than I am. And he looks it! hee hee!
I would recommend older rather than younger!Especially as a husband!:)
Max Whittaker 02-02-2002, 06:12 PM Sure! If it was true love.
I can just see myself walking around with a 5 year old:lol:
Anyway, I guess I could see myself dating someone a few years older or younger than me, once I myself get older...
ks
ILuvJoandBlair 02-02-2002, 06:28 PM I'd feel uncomfortable a younger s.o. As for older, I don't mind them being older, just not 10 years.

Pitooey 02-03-2002, 11:25 AM A word to the wise............. My parents got married when my father was 35 and my mom was 20. That's a 15 year age difference. When my pops got older and wanted to settle down and do nothing, My mom would pitch a fit because he couldn't take her anywhere. He was too tired. Man there were alot of fights! My mom would tell her daughters "Don't marry a man that's too much older than you because when you want to have fun - They don't!". :happyface :happyface

Yes, if I was truely in love with the person. When it comes to love, age ain't no thing, just like race, religion, etc. etc. etc....
Age becomes more meaningless the older you get, so some of you all who are grossed out by the thought of it now probably won't think it's any big deal when you get to be 20+ years old.
I don't get why people get so hung up on the age thing, as long as everybody is legally an adult and consenting. My roommate is dating a woman 7 years older than him, and his family doesn't approve, but I think hey, what's the big if they are happy with each other? My parents are 7 years apart too.

Babes_Cat 02-04-2002, 04:44 PM Um..... Jeff and I were wondering.. Why is this post called the May-December Romances?

Because that's what you call a romance between two people of very different ages. I think.
Mijada 02-04-2002, 06:39 PM I prefer someone older. If I get married, I want someone who is settled down, owns a home, set in their job etc.... Younger guys are too much into partying and hanging in bars and I don't enjoy being around that anymore.

HAHA! Marry and old rich man who will die on the wedding night then you get widow money! ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)
HAHAHA! JK JK JK!
I find this all very funny, especially those of the female persuasion. "I'm 25, I wouldn't date a 23 year old guy, but if he's 50...Let's get hitched!". Age is nothing, all it is is a number. If you're truely in love and happy with someone why must age come into it? True love comes from the heart, not from a birth certificate! Don't any of you forget that!

Yes but, the reality of it is age does matter........ Have you ever gone out with a person from another generation? It's not all a bed of roses...... For me personally.... I enjoy being with someone 3 years older or 1 year younger. That's as far as I go.

Yeah. A generation gap isn't all that great to have in a relationship. But it differs for the person. *shrugs*
JoJoJoJoJoJoJoJoJo 02-06-2002, 10:44 PM when my parents were married they were like a year apart..... I am 17 now, but when i was 16 i dated a 29 year old, you can imagine how happy my dad was. Now i look back and think, eww! he's 30 now! lol, 29 and 30 seem like such big age differences to me
