Get your hankies ready. This is the last interview Freddie did with the Enquirer (Dec 20, 76) about his marriage break up. It was published shortly after his death in 77.:crying:

Oh Lucky........ :crying: I remember how sad he was over the breakup of him and "K". :crying: :(

You're right, I needed the hankies. I went thru a few reading it. It was so sad. He thought she was there for him & when he needed her the most she left him. He missed his little baby so much & cried over it. It's so sad. :( The pain he must've felt in his last days...

Luckymama,
I am always grateful for all of the information you post and share with all of us. This article though, I felt, was exceptionally poignant. Freddie's own words of the BOTH of them realizing that they needed to be apart and of the civility of how they both tried to work through it yet came to the same conclusion for the future effects toward their son were extremely revealing into their relationship and the love they shared not only for each other but for their son. Even with all the outside influence and confusion of the drug use, Freddie's soul still shined through enough at times to reveal his complete love, caring, and understanding that even with the best of efforts on everyone's part to the best of their ability at the time.....situations still don't work in the best manner in which we hope. It came through that he understood that it was not for lack of trying...it just wasn't attainable at that time. Without the drugs he probably would have never lost sight of the fact that things could always change in the future to become more of what his heart desired but that his reality couldn't grasp. This was one of the best articles I have read to date...thank you again Lucymama!

If only Freddie would've just said "NO".

The 70's was so notorious for drug taking. Everybody did them.... it seemed. I had a couple of friends who abused drugs and died. Look at all the singers who've died back then. Some friends I knew, literally roamed the streets all high and stuff. People were walking the streets all barefoot. With strung out hair. Beautiful people who had looks, good homes etc. They just got caught in the vicious trap. Well in my generation I think it, really started in the 60's......... (Just look at Woodstock). From there it just escalated to the 70's. I saw so many people HIGH on heroin that it scared the heck out of me. Believe me........ back then.... I had "NO" idea that Freddie was using anything. I was so naive. I remember only "ONCE" hearing in a tabloid newspaper that he used cocaine. They hid it well back then.

I read an article somewhere that was from when he was first on CATM where he talked about how kids would try to offer him drugs & he would turn them down. How a kid who refused to take drugs could wind up on pills etc is amazing & sad. If only he had continued to say NO...

Cheryl Harrell
02-04-2002, 03:55 AM
I think part of the reason he killed himself was due to a broken heart over Kathy divorcing him. I have an article that was in one of the articles I bought over E-Bay & in it it talked about how when a girl would turn him down it hurt him so bad & he'd sob his eyes out.

I'm gonna put it on here if it'll turn out okay...

Luckymama58
02-04-2002, 07:42 AM
Thank you Cheryl for sharing that with us. I always felt Freddie was an affectionate guy. Those who wear their heart on their sleeves do tend to get hurt a lot, but when they find that special someone, boy are they in for a great relationship. Too bad it really didn't work out for him. I still believe he needed just the right person in his life to encourage all the good inside of him to come out, instead of the other side that eventually did! :crying:

02-04-2002, 05:40 PM
If I waited until I got my site going to post it, ya'll might be waiting a very long time LOL! So I figured I better post it now as it gives some insight as to how he really was when his heart was broken & how loveable he really was.

I remember reading somewhere where one of Freddie relatives had died. I think it might've been his Uncle Mango that he was so close to. I think Freddie was a teenager or pre-teen when this happened. He wanted to go to the funeral but his Mom thought he shouldn't since he was so sensitive & cried & upset so easily. But he begged his Mom to let him go as he'd never been to funerals much & wanted to go pay respects to his Uncle. So his Mom let him go with her. During the funeral Freddie broke down crying & sobbing hysterically all to pieces & wound up sobbing in his hanky. His mom then realized she shouldn't have let him go cuz it upset him too bad. But it was too late then so she had to comfort him. It sounds like he really loved his family. If only they had known how bad off he was...

I see something on E-Bay I have just got to have! If any strangers bid on my 18 pics of Freddie I am gonna be soooo upset I will do an Ed Brown LOL! YOU GOT IT! ;) I need those & explained my need to my hubby. Hopefully he sees the urgency here. :)

Thanks Luckymama! So far no one has bid on them yet but I am waiting until closer to the auction to bid on them cuz if I bid early a stranger will bid on them & they won't go to a good home. :( Thanks for posting the new articles! You keep us so informed! You'll have to get around to having your own site! :)

Thanx mucho for all your kind words. I really enjoy posting all these little treasures on hue_mee's site. I have been so blessed that she has made precious space available on her site for these. Cheryl, I wish I had the time for my own site, but I have enough to do with maintaining my website for school. It takes me 4 hours every week just to keep that one updated. And I understand about waiting till the last minute to bid. I do the same thing most of the time. I noticed a magazine not bid on because it was too high. Normally I have a $10 limit on magazines. I hope they put it back up for a lower starting price. I just won the album that Jose Feliciano recorded that has both CATM theme songs on it. I can't wait to hear that one. Another Freddie friend is biding on a magazine I wouldn't mind having, but I don't bid against my friends here if I can help it. I just hope she has access to a scanner so she can send me a copy!

Cheryl Harrell

Cheryl, you got it girlfriend. If I had a real autographed picture of Freddie addressed to me, it would be in a vault in Fort Knox waiting for me to look at any time I wanted to. But I will tell you that this is WAY to rich for my blood. OMG if I bid on this, I'd be in divorce court in a heart beat! :rotflmao:
Good luck if anyone bids!

I saw this - $199...YIKES....thats a bit much....of course, if it were autographed to ME.... I would never put a price on it...it would be priceless, as I am sure anyone else here would agree....

I had seen a framed picture with a business card and his autograph for sale some time ago ...it got listed twice but then disappeared and I dont think anyone bought it.... I wish it would come up again...it was $59.00 but I could not afford it at the time....darn :(

I have the winning bid on the 18 Freddie Pics so far wso I need prayers I will win. Sadly I won't be home at the end of the auction to nursemaid it & see if I get outbid & if so re-bid a higher amount. We have to go to Mikes cousins tonite (Mon nite). SO I'm outta here after 5:30 pm.

Hey Luckymama if ya see after 5:30 pm est that someone had outbid me feel free to go on ahead & bid on them cuz I won't be able to re-bid to outbid the stranger due to having to go to Mikes cousins. If this happens you can send me a scan of them LOL! The link to the auction on them is: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1510881298&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1013483015&indexURL=0&rd=1

If it turns out I can't have them cuz I was outbid by a stranger while I was gone, they should at least go to a good home. :)

I am in love with the BW pic of Freddie where he has short hair & is wearing a paisley looking shirt.

I just won the bid on a video of the MUHAMMAD ALI episode of the DEAN MARTIN ROASTS with Freddie in it, over internet auction. I got it for $9.99 & those things go for $19.99 a tape. Good news is I don't have to go thru the process of ordering all those tapes he's not in & having to send them back to get the ones he's in. I hope to get the other ones he's in that way too. :) Aren't the only other ones he's in are the Sammy Davis Jr Roast & the Best of the DEAN MARTIN CELEBRITY ROASTS? Just making sure... :)

As I looked at this, I thought, Well I guess Freddie got what he wanted--a banner headline! And this may sound petty, but couldn't they have chosen a better picture to go with the article?! This one makes Freddie look not only ugly, but stupid!

Did anyone else wonder about the fact that the Times reported that Freddie fired two shots? You would think that someone who believed in God like he did, if he missed with the first shot, would have figured God was trying to tell him something!

Cheryl Harrell
02-16-2002, 06:32 PM
I agree with ya. It wasn't the best picture of him, The picture would've been better if it was in color. I think he was so messed up by the pills that he had no idea what he was doing. And he was so heartbroke he didn't even care to live. It was so sad. :crying: :crying:

Someone bought the autographed picture of Freddie for $199 & they aren't anyone who hangs out on any Freddie sites. I looked up to see what other items the preson had been buying on E-BAY. They had been buying pics of other dead old celebrities. This should've gone to one of ya'll someone who'll take care of it & no someone who wants it just cuz he's a dead star. Seeing how much they paid for some of that stuff they must be rich LOL!

Ahhh the PLAYGIRL mag with Freddie in it. I don't have it but someone put it on their site. I think it's on the ED BROWNS GARAGE MSN community. Has in it that sexy looking pic of him in the pink long sleeve dress shirt. Yum... That's some other man on the front tho. I read somewhere that Freddie was asked to post nude for the PLAYGIRL mag but refused to cuz he has good morals. Makes me so proud of him even tho I never knew him. :) He had the bod for it tho LOL! ;) I don't have the PLAYGIRL but I do have the 2 PLAYBOYS he's in. The one put out after he died in it they ruined the drawing of him in it that by making his head look like it was shattered with pieces missing. Yuck! I had to scan it & fix it. Can't bear to look at it too much in it's origional form. Too disturbing & sad. The first PLAYBOY has a good pic of hi, It's an old one with no mustache...

I got my MUHHAMMAD ALI ROASTS tape with Freddie in it today! :) Believe it or not he is the first on on the show! Usually whoever you want to see on a show is last. He does only the one part but throughout the show you see him laughing. What a happy boy he was then! Someone puts down Tony Orlando & Freddie pats him on the head & hugs him LOL! He had on the sequined tux. YUM! I only watched the Freddie parts. I'll watch the whole entire show later. I took some pics off of it with a digital camera. :)

Thanks! How I got the pic was I took a digital camera & took some pics off the tv whilke viewing it with the camera. You can do the same thing with a regular camera. You have to have the flash turned off so you don't get a glare from the flash & you need to turn on the overhead light in the room so there is enough light. This has allowed me to get pics I wouldn't have otherwise. :)

I finally got my Freddie Magazine pics that I won over E-Bay! :) There were some hot ones in it! I esp love this one I'm gonna put on here of him with short hair. :) I did get in them 2 pics I already had. One was the page from the US article on JR that had the Freddie pics on it. Since I saved the whole magazine & didn't cut it up/out, I'll just put that one in my scrapbook of him. Would you believe my scrapbook of him has 47 pages in it now?

I put the pics in the CLUB OF THE PRINZES YAHOO club since that one has somehow sadly lost all their pics.

Thanks for sharing with us! That is a cute tux pic! My he looks so handsome & mature! :)

I have a little find of my own to post here. :) Sometimes every once in a while we'll go on a Sat to Newport News which is an hr 1/2 drive to go shopping & eat out & hit some of the cheap stores, malls & oldies used record shops. We did that yesterday. When we went in this one oldies record store they had some old teen & movie magazines from the 70's. Unfortunately alot of them were from before CATM came out or after Freddie died. I did find one, a movie magazine with Freddie in it. It had 2 small blurbs in it about his marriage failing & one of them had a pic with it I'd never seen before. This magazine was from Apr 77 but didfn't have his death in it. Probably cuz magazines would come out a few months earlier than the month listed on the magazine like this one probably came out in Dec or Jan before he died. So I will post them here. It costs me $7.50 for a magazine that was origionally $1. I saw the $1 price & it dawned on me that was when magazines went up to 75c or $1 & we teenagers back then complained of the price hike. It was sooo expensive to us back then LOL! I wish this magazine had more on him in it than this but stuff on him is hard to find so...

Enjoy!

I just know some stranger who doesn't even hang out on here is gonna bid on it & drive up the price. :( Big sigh... I'm about tempted to walk up & down the street begging for donations LOL! Sorry to vent but ya'll are the only ones that would understand. Sigh... LOL!

Doggone it, I saw where someone has bid on the thing I wanted. Fortunately it is someone from here so it'll be going to a good home. I wish the seller had more than one to sell. I hadn't listed the link to it on here cuz I was afraid strange folks who don't write on here might be checking out these boards & not writing & see the item & bid on it. Once you see the pic here you'll see why I would've loved to have had it. It's a store display for the LOOKING GOOOD album:

http://www.geocities.com/tymespan/freddieprinze.JPG

Good luck to our bidder I don't want to see any strangers out bidding her!

I feel sorry for poor Hue Mee. :( Would ya believe 2 strange people who don't even hang out on here outbid her so the price has jacked up to $228.00! Oh my God! :eek2: I sure don't have that kind of money. Ave Maria Purisma! (Whatever that means LOL!)

It is upsetting to see strangers outbidding our Freddie family on stuff & driving up the prices so high. :( The 2 outbidders must be guys cuz one has Mr in his name & the other one has dude in his name. Surely common sense would tell them that Freddie Prinze is someone that women are gonna want to buy on & that if a woman has bid on something on him she is a loyal fan & deserves it. I guess they don't care if they outbid our loyal Freddie family out of something they deserve. I sure don't know where I'd get $228.00 from LOL! If these strangers want this stuff just cuz it is of a dead celebrity, there are plenty of dead celebrities they can buy on instead of ousting our our dear Freddie family from being able to give this stuff a good home. Shall we direct them to the Humphrey Bogart or Marilyn Monroe auctions? LOL! ;) I saw where on of these bidders had bid a thousand some $$$ on something. In that case since they can afford it they can be my new best friend & buy me & Hue Mee some Freddie stuff. ;) Cheese & Crackers as Freddie used to say!

I was so thankful, lucky & blessed of God to have gotten my Freddie Autograph for only $27 (Postage included in that figure). Sorry to rant & rave but to see that happen to her just upsets me so & I have been thru the same thing myself. Sigh... :(

I have decided that when I die (which could be anytime now since I have diabetes LOL!) my Freddie collection WILL NOT go up for sale. Instead it will go to loyal people on these boards who will love & cherish it! :)

Cheryl Harrell
03-19-2002, 06:29 PM
Hue Hee has the top bid. Yay! :) Unfortunately it went up to $255. I feel bad for her cuz she shouldn't have to pay that much for something of Freddie. If the non-fans wouldn't have bid on it she could've had it for $9.99...

Cheryl Harrell
03-21-2002, 05:56 PM
Ave Maria Purisma! The price is up to 400 some $$$ cuz strangers kept outbidding the Cardboard LOOKING GOOD LP standup to higher prices. :( Good news is Hue Mee has the top bid on it! :) I looked it up & most of the other bidders were folks who are buying old cardboard standups for record albums & movies & movie memorabila etc. They probably want it cuz it is rare & old & not because they love our Prinze. :( Please strangers don't bid on this stuff causing Freddies faitheful to not be able to afford to get it or to have to pay astronomical prices for it. Be kind...

Cheryl Harrell

Sad news! A stranger outbid Hue Mee on it & outbid it up to $455! Cheese & Crackers! It's sad to think this rare Freddie stuff won't be going to a home to someone who really loves him. this just upsets me so. I wish there were a way to stop the Freddie stuff from going to the non-fans & making sure it goes to the real fans. Sigh... :( I am so glad I won the bid on Freddies autograph. I will make sure it is loved here in my home. & It is. :)

Well some sad news. :( The top bid on the Freddie standup advertising the LOOKING GOOD album has gone to a stranger. From reading the site Hue Mee retracted her bid thinking she wouldn't win & was a nice guy & let the stranger have it. These strangers should've never bid on it anyway since they don't love our Prinze & just want it cuz he's a dead celebrity. Hue Mee coul'dve had it for the origional starting bid of $9.99 if those strangers hadn't outbid her. Make me want to go up & take donations to help our loyal Freddie Faithful get these items so they will go to a good home...

I found these pics/articles up for bid as a set on the internet & right now can't afford them. Sigh... I am posting them here. I purposely put them on here instead of the link to the auction for fear that the strangers who are outbidding our Freddie faithful might be cruising these boards to find links to auctions & then bid on them keeping ya'll from being able to win the bid on them. Hopefully they'll go to someone nice who will share them on one of the sites...

I have just GOT TO HAVE this 16 magazine with this HOT pic of Freddie on the cover & would like to have the 17 magazine with him in it & the tabloid paper that shas in it why Freddies Wife lived in fear. I have to know why! Wish me luck in convincing Mike! I sure need it BAD! LOL! Strangers bid against CHICOHOLIC for the Freddie Prinze autographed pic. This really upsets me biggie to see that the autographed pic is going for $72 to a stranger. I bet that stranger only wants it cuz it belongs to a dead celebrity. Strangers please let this stuff go to Freddies Faithful! It needs to go to a good home! Rant Rave.... LOL! I know I am ranting too much but this just upsets me so...

I've seen twocatsync bid on many Freddie Prinze Sr./CATM items on e-bay. I thought maybe they were a big fan but never wanted to participate with any of us on the message boards. I've been buying quite a bit on e-bay lately and sometimes I wonder if some of us could be using a name that is unfamiliar to us here. Since I will not try to bid against any of my friends here I would appreciate knowing if someone has to use a name that I don't recognize so I could continue to avoid bidding against them. I'm really excited because I'm getting some neat stuff to add to my great Freddie collection. I want to send a special thanks to Luckymama for helping me getting started on this project! I just can't seem to get enough of that man!!!!!!!!!!

MariposaLKB

Have you seen that one of the people participating in the auction of the autographed picture (see the URL above that Cheryl posted) has retracted their bid, and the price is now down from $72 to $7.50?! What is up with that?! The seller has had a few negative comments but not nearly enough to cause a person to back out at this late stage, IMHO! Wow! And I agree, whoever twocatsnyc is, they must be a big Freddie fan!

Cheryl Harrell
04-23-2002, 07:21 AM
They ought to join us on here! They would have sooo much fun! :) They should do a web search like I did & it'll lead them here. Maybe someone could write them & tell them about this place. If there are loyal fans of Freddie out there who don't know about these boards, they need to know so they can join in with us. :)

I ought to plead with my hubby for the autographed pic! :)Reason I get so upset when our Freddie Family gets outbid is I've had strangers outbid me on Freddie stuff & outbid others in the Freddie family here & when I looked up to see what they were bidding on it was stuff of old stars or movie memorabilia leading me to believe it was people wanting it because it was a dead celebrity...

Also I could use prayers bigtime to win a coupla things. I have the top bid on a 16 magazine at 9.99 that has a hot pic of Freddie on the front of it & the top bid on a laptop at $3.25. I really need the laptop bad cuz my old laptop is a 486 & is tooo slow on the internet... So I could use lots of prayers. Wish me luck LOL!

I think I've got a problem and hopefully someone here can give me some help - PLEASE! I've recently bidded on some things on e-bay (incidently, I go by CATCOPY18 on there so people here will know if and what I'm bidding on). Anyway, I won a copy of Can You Hear the Laughter and I got it yesterday. It DOES NOT WORK!!! I tried it on several VCR's and nothing!!!! I'm trying to locate the seller but he's not returned my e-mails. Then, I won a 1977 Playboy magazine with an article about Freddie Sr. in it. The person e-mailed me about the payment arrangements but I've e-mailed them 3 times and it keeps coming back with Daemon@aol and I don't know what to do about that either. I won another magazine with Dick Clark, Elizabeth Taylor and Freddie Prinze a couple of weeks ago and I sent them a check. I've not heard a word about that either. Is it me or what? I was so excited about e-bay and so far I've had nothing buy bad luck. I'm bidding on a couple more Freddie items but so far I've been outbidded. Has anyone else had anything like this happen?

Luckymama58

Catcopy,
I have had nothing but sucess with eBay, but I have heard of others who have had problems in the past. The tape problem I would take to eBay directly if your e-mails have not been answered. Check the site for where to take grievences. The second problem with the returned e-mails might be your server. I have people e-mail me at my yahoo address and when I e-mail them back, especially if they have an aol mailbox, it will not accept embedded images, like smilies and such, so I have had to do some tricky things to get around this. Try e-mailing them directly through the eBay site in the check out function on the item you won. The third problem about not getting your package yet after payment, realize it takes the mail a long time these days. If the item was shipped media rate, I have waited upwards of two weeks for these, about 5 days for my payment to get to them and at least another week for the item to get back to me...sometimes longer. I think this is the backlash of the terrorism of 9/11 with the mail. If it was shipped from Canada, it can take longer still. I have occasionally had a seller forget too, and I have e-mailed them and politely asked if they had received my payment, and then it helped them to remember to ship it out! Sometimes a gentle prodding works! Any complaints about sellers should be taken to eBay and then if you do not get satisfaction, give that seller a negative feedback, please, so other buyers can be made aware of your experience with them. I am sorry about your string of bad luck with eBay. I hope and pray you get it settled.
Luckymama

Good luck with the E-BAY stuff! It takes forever anymore for stuff to come from E-BAY & also for my payments to reach them. I have had to re-send the payment to several sellers cuz it didn't reach them & now mail all E-BAY payments from the post office & not our house because of this. Good luck!

I had origionally had the high bid on the doll as I had wanted it really bad & my hubby was gonna give it to me for Christmas since I wanted it so bad but when it came time to pay for it our finances got too low to pay for it right then & we'd have to wait a week or so to pay for it. The seller didn't want to wait a week or so for payment :( so they cancelled out the auction & put it up for bid again & the bidding went too high & I couldn't afford it. :( A stranger bid on my doll I wanted & now I'll never have it. :crying: It was sooo cute... Actually it looked more like Mando LOL!

Here a cute pic up for bid: (He looks so hot in this one!) :)

Thank you for the advice, I will try your suggestions. I guess maybe I need a little more patience with the snail mail too but when I see something of Freddie that I want, I want it ASAP. I know most people have great luck with e-bay and I'm sure I will too after I get the hang of it. I think I bidded on too many items at one time and I got a little confused as to where I got what. I guess I should start out slowly until I know how this all works.

doesn't that black and white picture look incredibly mature? If he had a little bit of grey in his hair and a few laugh lines, I bet that is what he would look like today! I wonder where it came from and when it was taken? It looks like later in his life, since his face is rather thin and his hairline is higher than when CATM first started. Whatever, it is one of the sexier expressions I have ever seen--very mysterious!

A stranger has outbid me on the poster/standup. :( I can't rebid on it until later in the auction or the stranger will drive the price up way too high. :( I looked at what they are bidding on & I'd assume from seeing what they have bid on in the past, they are interested in old comics & probably not a diehard fan. Probably want it cuz it is rare. Let it go to me please where I will love & cherish it.
Sigh...

I agree with ya on that BW pic. He looks sooo cute & mature in it. He also looks sooo thin in it too. So sad...

Something about that picture looked familiar to me, so I went on a search with Mariposa's help. A similar picture was on the Loooking Goood site. It was a newspaper ad about Freddie's upcoming show at Cesaer's Palace. I cropped his picture from that ad and put it next to the one Cheryl found on eBay. This was taken sometime in late '74 BTW. The newspaper was dated Dec 17, 1974. The clothing and poses are similar enough to conclude that these were taken at the same photo shoot. I think the reason he looks so much older is that the photographers were paid to make him look more mature. If you look at any of the professional studio pictures of Freddie, they all make him look at least 10 years older than he was. This one almost adds 20 years to his age (IMHO)

Cheryl Harrell
05-08-2002, 07:19 AM
Thanks for the info! I noticed in the pic that Luckymama put to the right of the one I found on E-Bay, he looks younger in that one than the one on the left. That was taken in '74? Wow! I had figured since he looked so thin & older in it that it was taken just before he died. Wow!

In this one he looks more baby faced:

That collage just reinforces for me something I have been noticing for a long time--Freddie looks like a different person in almost every photo that was taken of him, even pictures that were most likely taken during the same shoot (as in the side-by-side comparison of the two photos that Luckymama did above)! But the changes he went through are especially jolting when you see pictures that were taken at the beginning of his career next to ones from the end of his life! It is amazing to see all those images together, Cheryl! Thanx mucho!

Freddie autographed a copy of the Looking Good album for Johnny Carson & it's up for bid. I can't afford the $35. :( So therefore it should go to one of you good people instead of a stranger.

You're right, Cheryl--if this album belonged to Johnny Carson, how did it get out of his collection?! And I know $35 dollars is a lot of money to many people (including me LOL), but for something that has sooo much of Freddie's writing on it, plus is addressed to another legendary person?! I can imagine it going for the kind of money that display stand went for, around $500! Goodness knows Carson wouldn't need the money, though--no matter how much it brings! Wonder what is up with this?!

That TV guide cover is interesting too--nice drawing of everything but Freddie's eyes--he looks cross-eyed! But they were soooo uniquely beautiful I am sure it is very difficult to get them just right!

I wonder if the pic of him walking was taken in his old neighborhood in NYC? I love him in that denim leisure suit! & His hair there! :)

I have seen another picture (on Starshine's site) of him in that same outfit. It is also a good one, but in that picture is standing still--looking very hot though! I absolutely looooove this one, with the combination of macho attitude and dancer's grace just oozing out of him! And in both pictures even the jacket is skin-tight! Mmmmm! :eyes:

For those who missed seeing the cover of the Bananas Magazine on eBay, Suzanne--I think it would be interesting to post it here and get everyone's opinion of the way that Freddie and Jimmie Walker were each portrayed. Looked like a set-up to me LOL! :boxing:

Hi,
I just received another article, this one is from the Movie Mirror Magazine dated Feb 76. It is (as always) over at Ed Brown's garage (Thank you Hue_Mee)
http://communities.msn.com/EdBrownsGarage/_whatsnew.msnw

Just a word of comment if I may.

How naive can reporters be?!?!?! We all know Kathy was pregnant the June before the wedding and this article came out a month before Freddie Jr. was born, for cripes sake! I know the article might have been written a month prior, but EVERYONE knew when I was 7 months pregnant! :p These two must have been consummate actors, or Freddie was really private about his private life!!! Poor baby. :(

The bidding on the LOOKING GOOD cardboard standup got to be more than I could afford. So Hue-Mee went & bid with being the top bidder & sadly a stranger has out bid her with it curently being around $126. :( A stranger has the top bid at $51 on the Looking Good album autorgrpahed to Johnny Carson. 2catsinnyc & Starstruck 1962 have got to join us on here as they are prime candates for this place! :)

These articles of JR are up for bid on E-BAY. Does anyone know where I can find online a copy/scan of the article called PRINZE IN THE CITY that has the pic of CHICO & ED on it. I don't think I've seen that one before. Thanks!

MariposaLKB

"Mature" was the word that first sprang to my mind the first time I saw this picture when it was posted a while back. That version was much smaller and darker, and almost made Freddie look like he was worn out :( (though still handsome :D )! The way hue_mee has lightened it--and in such a large format--this picture makes him look even sexier than usual! I might have to kiss the screen LOL! BTW--the suit and shirt remind me of the clothes Laz wore in the show at the comedy club in NYC! :loveya: Beautiful job, Suzanne!

I had the most wonderful dream last nite about this BW pic of Freddie you posted! I dreamed he was alive & I kept seeing this pic of him & him alive looking like this pic & he looked so handsome. I kept thinking over & over how sexy he looked. Folks here on this CATM Board here kept seeing him alive looking like that pic & everyone kept commenting on the boards how sexy he looked. I kept seeing him all nite long looking like this pic & he looked so sexy. Dreaming this all nite long... Wow! :) I did not want to wake up! Thank you for giving me sweet dreams! :)

Isn't Wimpy 66 someone from here? I see where they had the top bid on the CATM script & I figured they thought the bidding was outta my price range.I'd re-bid again but if they're someone from here I won't as I dont' wann knock out someone from here in getting it. Hue me has the winning bid on his autograph. Strangers bid it up to where she had the top bid at $61. Good luck! Thanks ladies, but I still think it doesn't look quite right. I'm so picky when it comes to these things! :o

Luckymama58
06-07-2002, 06:22 AM
Cheryl,
Yes Wimpy 66 is a good Freddie friend. It will go to a good home, but I am sorry you lost the bid.
I haven't been bidding as much these days, due to the need for money for the construction of our dream house (It costs a LOT of money...I'll be in hock for the next 30 years! ) I did manage to win a book about Hollywood mystery deaths, and our Prinze is among them. :( I will post the chapter on Freddie on Hue_Mee's site when it comes in.

On another topic, I love the picture!!!! Suzanne and Dani, what a collaborative effort! The original I wasn't too thrilled with, something about his expression, but the way you gals treated it, OMG WHAT A HUNK!!!!! Mariposa will have to turn around for me while I go strip and cool off in the rain! :rotflmao:

And still on another topic... Mariposa mentioned how the suit reminded her of how Laz looked when he played Freddie a month ago. Laz needs our prayers, ladies. He is under a lot of stress to get his next show ready (the show is not about Freddie, but it is comedy and this is a nice young man trying to break into this business, just like Freddie did at the start of his career.) Let's show him our support! I always like to think that if Freddie had the kinda support of this circle of friends and fans we have here, maybe he would have been able to handle the stresses in his life. I think Freddie is giving us an opportunity here to be there for another young actor/comedian. Whadda say ladies? :)

MariposaLKB
06-07-2002, 08:58 AM
Lucky, I am on my knees right beside you! I would sooo love to see Laz succeed in his chosen career--and not just because he played Freddie onstage (wonderfully!). He is obviously very talented in general, to say nothing of adorable and sweet hee hee!

Cheryl Harrell
06-07-2002, 10:02 PM
Thanks for the info on Wimpy 66. I found out they are indeed someone from here on the boards. :) I wanted to make sure so that I didn't outbid anyone from on here. The bidding was probably gonna get outta my prcie range soon anyway LOL! So may Wimpy 66 win the bid on it! I want it to go to one of us instead of strangers. :) :)

Good luck on building your home. I bet it'll be nice when you are finished with it. :)

Good luck to Laz. Freddie is surely smiling down on him. :)

I got back home from Nags Head today & My CAN YOUR HEAR THE LAUGHTER SCRIPT was waiting for me! :) I can't wait to read it & hope to post it online so you all can see it. :) It may take along time to scan it & put it online as it is a 113 page or so script. IT says on the plastic bag it came in IRA AUGUSTAIN & the name of the movie & date. I wonder if it was Ira's personal copy of the script or if that was telling who the star of it was.

It came in loose sheets that were not bound. To protect it I'll have to buy clear plastic pages that fit in a notebook & allow ya to display stuff in a notebook & a note book to put it in. :) The script even lists the emotions Ira was supposed to display as portraying him...

Prayers for Laz! :) We'll be rooting for him!

Karen64
06-07-2002, 10:53 PM
Congrats on winning the script, Cheryl!
Did you have a good time in Nag's Head? Is that that where they have those old lighthouses? I would love to poke around in an old lighthouse someday!

I wish Laz the best of luck in his career and I know that Freddie is smiling down on him and hope that he will be the "angel beneath his wings"! You go, Laz!

Good luck on your house, Luckymama!

Cheryl Harrell

We had a great time down there! :) They have several nice lighthouses down there & we went to see a few of them while we were there like the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. They are fun to visit & pretty to look at! :)

Strangers are outbidding our Freddie family. :( A stranger outbid Hue Mee on the Freddie autograph. The stranger won the bid on it at $102.50! Looks like I got a good deal at $27 on mine! :) A stranger outbid Wimpy 66 on the CATM script making it currently $61.00. That's outta my price range.I sure hope Wimpy 66 gets it! :) Also hope she gets the bid on the other CATM script. :)

I can't bid on it cuz it says they won't sell to anyone who has negative feedback. Hope no one minds. :) If it doesn't work I'll let you guys know.

Cheryl, Luckymama, and Ladylovesfreddie. I know the feeling with having AOL as a server. sometimes trying to play catch on a bid can be rough when the ISP is running slow dur to heavy trafffic!!

Cheryl Harrell
07-01-2002, 02:48 AM
I had seen those pics & wanted to buy them but a few of them were ones I already had. I only wanted them for the few I didn't have. I asked Mike if I could bid on the pics & he said yes. When I went back to check them out Luckymama had the top bid on them. So I was glad to let her have them. :)

I really bothered me to see that she was outbid by a stranger. I hope she doesn't mind but I e-mailed the seller explaining the situation how close we all are on the boards & I hated to see her getting outbid by a stranger & explaining she had puter problems & asked the seller if it would it be possible for them to send her a scan of each of the pictures? & It would really mean so much to her & if you could do this for her it would really mean so much to her. So wish me luck that the seller will send me scans of all the pics! :) It's the least I could do.

It really bothers me that these strangers outbid the stuff from people who really want it like Luckymama, Lady Loves Freddie & I. This seems to be happening alot lately. I'll look up to see what other stuff the strangers are bidding on & alot of it isn't Freddie stuff. I get the feeling they want it just cuz he is a dead comic. So sad.

Actually altho I am on AOL, I don't have half the problems folks do on AOLwith connecting simply because I get my AOL under the all the AOL you want under another isp (internet) deal. If you get AOL thru another isp then your AOL is only $14.95 instead of $23.95 or whatever. Of course I have to pay for another internet to connect to AOL but I never have to deal with the AOL busy signals LOL! Right now I am trying out EARTHLINK free for 3 months & I'm using that & free internets to get on the internet & AOL. When the EARTHLINK free time is up I will go to the $6.95 a month internet. The only reason I keep the AOL is for the AOL only stuff that I do like diabetes stuff & these message boards on Arlo, Freddie, & TVLAND that are on AOL only.

Goood luck to those of you bidding on Freddie stuff. We all really need it...

Way to go, Cheryl! That will be so exciting, actually holding a CATM script!
I wonder if it COULD have been one of Freddie's scripts?.... Hmmm; maybe he held it in those big strong hands of his, reading and studying it.....

Cheryl Harrell

I hope it was his script. Oh I hope so. I wonder what kinda vibes I will get when I am holding it? :)

I had the top bid on this Freddie magazine & while I was at the Monkees show, a stranger outbid me. It appeared that a few of the articles in it were ones I had in some magazine clippings I bought off of E-BAY but I wanted it for the hot cover. I couldn't rebid a higher amount cuz the auction ended while I was gone...

a long time ago, you asked about the article entitled "prinze of the city." well, i can recognize that it's in entertainment weekly, and if you do a search at www.ew.com you'll come up with an article called "lost prinze of comedy." i think they renamed it. no picture though. :(

anyway, i like their search engine, because you can put "freddie prinze" in, and they ask if you just want sr., not jr.! now if only ebay would do the same thing!

jamison__99, Thanks for the heads up about the article. I had a rough time with this article. It kinda sounded more like the Playboy article and the "Can You Hear the Laughter" script (In fact, the producer of that movie was quoted.) I think they made Freddie out to be something he really wasn't. Again, I think this is another example of the industry not wanting to take any responsibility for letting Freddie down when he obviously was crying for help. It is amazing that after 18 years (when the article was written) they were still trying to cover their ....ahem.... derrières! (IMHO) One thing I did like was the fact that Jr. was quoted to say that he loved listening to his dad's album and it always made him laugh, no matter what kind of a mood he was in. I saw that debut in "Family Matters", and I guess he felt that he might have been giving a message, since a gun killed his dad. So sad. :crying:
Thank you all for letting us know about articles online. I can't get enough of Freddie and hue_mee, keep posting those pictures you get. And don't worry about the size, the larger the better! If I could get away with it, I would have a life sized picture of Freddie hanging right over my bed and pray everynight he would fall out of it on top of me! (My friend in HS had one of Mark Spitz, the olympic swimmer, after he won all of those gold medals. He was in a speedo and all the medals hung around his neck. She had it over her bed! ) That is what I would call heaven, only with Freddie. Somehow, though, I don't think hubby would appreciate that! :rotflmao:

thank *you* for telling the truth. i sure am learning a lot on this board! i also like how jr. likes to hear his daddy on tape. reminds me of jfk, jr.-- so proud of his father that he pulled out a record of one of his speeches, and shared it with his friends, when he was seven years old!

there are a couple of people that are selling tapes of the shows. are they any good? does anyone know? i'd get some of the pictures, but, to tell you the truth, i like them better when they are done by you all!

Hi everybody--I just wanted to post this pic of Freddie and Jack. I got the slide of this pic from ebay. When I went to get it copied, the photo guy said it was an original slide from the 70's. I had to pay extra to have it enhanced because it was kind of pink from age. It looks like a real picture, like someone took it on the set. There's another pic that's the same but it says "Chico and the Man" over it in white letters. The guy told me that they used to take the picture, then place the words on it and take another picture of it (this was way before computer enhancment!). There's also 2 pics from Sanford and Son on the same strip. I never attached a picture on a message board so I hope this works! Take Care!

I haven't been able to bid on anything for a long time on eBay. Quite frankly, with a son in college and being in the middle of building my dream house, I AM BROKE!!!!
Recently I did see some clippings that were going for next to nothing, so I bid on them and won. I posted them on Hue_mee's site Ed Brown's Garage, on MSN Groups. Check them out. :D
BTW if anyone is interested I can e-mail them pictures of the house under construction.... email me and let me know! LOL

on ebay right now:

** lots of pictures (remember to search for "chico and the man" as well as "freddy prinze" because some sellers categorize pictures differently)
** a script
** a della reese "chico" trade ad
** video "can you hear the laughter?" (is this a true account?)
** rolling stone--january 30, 1975
** people- february 14, 1977
** tv/radio mirror-- january 1976

also, someone periodically is selling the first 19 episodes. has anyone bought from this person? are they any good? should i go for it? do my black shoes go better with my brown pants than they do with my yellow overalls? do blondes have more fun?

Not bragging but... I won the auction on the cardboard display of Freddie advertising his LOOKING GOOD album! :) Only $14.99! Woo-Hoo! I have seen this thing go on E-Bay for $500 so I got me a bargain! Mike has a cardboard standup of Elvis & one of Paul McCartney but we don't have the room sadly to put them up. This one appears to be smaller so I am putting it up in our den! :)

Congrats to Luckymama on winning another magazine! It's sad a stranger was outbidding her causing her to have to pay more for it than she should have to...

Here is something up for bid which I'd love to read the article on but can't afford:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1565780743&rd=1

It appears to me to be a girlie or Playboy type magazine so the strangers who are bidders on it may not be wanting it for Freddie LOL! If I was able to buy it, my hubby would want to read it & not just cuz of Freddie...    Hopefully one of ya'll will give it a good home so someone can share the article on Freddie from it with everyone... :)

Congrats on getting your CATM tapes! :) You are gonna have so much fun with them. You will watch them over & over. Cry over the sad ones & the ones near the end of Freddies life & the Raul runs away one. If you have a digital camera you will be using to take pics off the tv of it. & You'll be forcing (LOL) your hubby to watch them with you. & cooing over Chico & going on & on about Chico when you are watching them with your hubby... Have fun! :)

+switchplate with freddie and jack. does anyone collect these? they look cool to make.

+1975 rolling stone with freddie on the cover

+another jr thing-- checkbook cover. can you imagine going to the grocery store, taking out the checkbook, and having freddie on the front? makes you want to spend, spend, spend!

+"freddie prinze story" bio

+ "can you hear the laughter?" video

and various other things being bid on, or looked at. no "chico" videos this time around. i am still waiting to get mine to list. it's good to see cool freddie stuff out there!

as promised, here are the 12 episodes on the 'chico' tape that fujifilmwholesale sells on ebay. (in order, taped from a fandemonium tv land day. commercials not deleted.)

minority of one
morgan and the man
champs ain't chumps
ready when you are, cb
chico's padre
black tie blues
matchmaker. matchmaker
talk to god
louie's can-can
gregory peck is a rooster
uncle sunny
who's been sleeping in my car?

also, there is about 2/3rds of the episode "su casa, mi casa?" i was a bit sad that the comercials were not deleted, but then saw how much fun tv land has with their commercials! there was this one "your peanut butter is in my chocolate" ad that had donny most and robby benson! also, they had this neat ad where they talked about all the catchphrases of the show. was "the little dog in the back with his head bobbing up and down" all that popular?

Gosh, I remember that ad. Can you say over 40 real loud LOL!

gregory peck is a rooster
(Ed tries to save a rooster that is a fighting rooster. Pat Buttram of GREEN ACRES makes a notable appearance in this one.)

uncle sunny
(Jack Albertson plays Ed Browns Uncle Sonny as well as Ed Brown in this one. )

Those 2 episodes are ones that don't have Chico or Raul in them. They were the last coupla episodes of the season having been done after Freddie died & before they decided to have Raul. They had to finish out the season.

who's been sleeping in my car? I think this is the Raul episode where they find him in Louies car trunk...

Looks like this tape has on it the last of the Freddie episodes & the coupla of Non-Freddie-pre-Raul ones & the first Raul one on it...

...why Freddie never hosted SNL. Now we know--he thought some of the sketches were in poor taste. I have to say I agree with him--the original cast were all great comedians, but some of the stuff they were called upon to do was just not really all that funny. Bravo Freddie for speaking out!

I also agree, Krizia, that the picture is very handsome--Freddie was one of the few people I have ever seen who didn't look ridiculous if he was photographed in the middle of talking LOL!
