Jack didn't move out because it would have changed the whole concept of what Three's Company was about.

The characters didn't grow & evolve, and that's what I believe led to TC ending not as a popular show anymore. For those who follow ratings, would know that TC's drastically dropped in popularity in its final year.

Three's company was the first show that had a guy lives with girls and were friends. So it was a revolutionary show. The show wouldn't have done well with Jack living by himself. Cleverfun3000 that was a good picture of the trio.

But now to be serious (or as serious as one can be about a sitcom), what doesn't make sense to me, besides Jack having more money, is why they would spend all those years going through that "Jack is gay" charade. If they had to live in the same apartment, go live somewhere where the landlords don't give a rip about a man living with two women. What was so friggin' special about that particular apartment? Yes, I know this is the whole premise of the show, but the issue is whether it's a solid and realistic premise. Would such a scenario happen in real life for all those years?

He was probably hoping for more job opportunities in a larger city. And more opportunities to party. :)

When I went to my university, I knew a few people who slept on their friend's couch, or rented a sleeping room while they went to school . It was one of the sacrifices they made for their education, so that part wasn't too far -- fetched . It was probably also for the job opportunities and the chance to party like the other poster said .

The episode you are referring to was probably a promo to get people to watch the season finale of season 4 when Jack was graduating cooking school but decided to move out in the beginning of the episode because he failed his final cooking exam.
