10 people shot in North St.Louis last night, 3 others the night before and 3 more on Friday night. They just drive up and down the streets picking people off. I saw the Mayor on tv a couple of months ago saying he couldn't figure out why people are leaving the city in droves and nobody wants to bring their business here. I had to chuckle when they interviewed the chief of police about why there are so many shootings. He said, " Most of the elder gang leaders are in jail, so the younger ones are unsupervised "

Our mayor has been making more appearances lately, election year.

It's sad! I live in a relatively small city, and our numbers of murder and random violence have skyrocketed this year. :( No one is truly safe anywhere anymore.

So this is not only going on in Philadelphia and New York?

I live in a rather small area, too, in FL where not alot of violent crime goes on, certainly not alot of drive by shootings, but a few months ago, a mother shot and killed her 4 kids then herself, just about 2 miles from my house. Even a friend of mine who lives near Boston heard about it up there!!!

We sure live in a complicated world. It does seem to be getting worse. I could not live in a big city like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Detroit. Where I live we have crime and what not, but NOTHING like those big cities do. I think our lives our getting too comlicated anymore. We all need to slow down and take a good look at whats important in our lives (morals, values, family and friends). Life these days seems like a big rat race.

Has anyone ever heard of a courtesy gun ?
I saw this on the news when they had a story about a fire in an old abandoned building. Firefighters said they found a gun among the ruins and a cop said it was probably a courtesy gun (A gun used by members of a gang to commit a crime,then stashed in an old building for others to use)

I was in a small one owner restaurant the other day, and as I was waiting for the waitress to bring me my bill for the meal, I noticed an older man, probably his mid 50's, bussing a table across from me, with a gun, in a holster, on his side. When I went to pay my bill, he was also running the cash register. I jokingly said, man it must be a bad area around here if the workers are packing guns. lol He said yeah, you cant be to careful around here. Hopefully I wont have to use it. I hope he never has to use it to.
