For some reason, I've always loved period pieces. I've always had an interest in history and loved the way shows set the tone of another era, whether spot-on or hilariously missing the mark. What are your favorites?

Another period piece I've always been interested in is the short-lived Homefront but I've never been able to find it anywhere

Happy Days and M*A*S*H

Is it to early to see a show today set in the 90s? I think that would be kind of cool.

'Homefront' was a great show and needs to be on DVD.

I vote for 'Little House' and 'The Waltons'.

I actually think it would be the perfect time for a show set in '90s. There's so much '90s nostalgia these days, I definitely think something like that could become a huge hit.

I don't think it is too early. I would love to see a 90s based show. That was when I grew up. I mean I was 8 in 1990. I'm 30 now a lot has changed.

Oh man, this is hard... Can I choose three of them? B/c I choose Mad Men, Happy Days and Little House on the Prairie

I like how Mad Men is sort of both a criticism and a love affair for the time period its depicting.

Gotta go with M*A*S*H. It never really felt like a priod piece to me, though. Partly because my understanding of previous wars is so basic! :p But it was a good show that combined serious drama with the light touch to make it funny and relatable. Not that we couldn't have related to it if it was just a drama but comedy is good sometimes.

I agree with you about M*A*S*H. It was possibly the greatest mixture of comedy and drama ever created. Do in part to great acting and great writing.

Not comedies but how about westerns? ..I like Bonanza, Gunsmoke or Rifleman. When these shows were on in primetime, the set up was, what 70 years in the past.

That's a hard one. I would have to go with That '70s Show, with MASH and Happy Days tied for a close second.

I forgot about a little gem of a show called Any Day Now that aired on Lifetime in the very early 2000's.
