View Full Version : Do you grab your phone and go online before getting out of bed in the morning?
TVFactFan 07-14-2012, 01:03 AM There is a story in the latest issue of Newsweek about how the internet is making us crazy and how so many are addicted to their phones and the internet.

I thought I was the only one

I do the samething. But i'm not addicted to it. I just do it because that's what i want to do lol
I also do a lot of other things. I accomplised cleaning my grandpas entire shop today. I cooked tacos for dinner. and i passed my first science exam:) Plus dealing with a really messed up situation:( But I have faith that God will fix it.
Brad Russ 07-14-2012, 03:12 AM Yeah, I do the same thing in the morning only I go on Facebook to check out my friends updates. And it is safe to say that I'm definitely addicted to my phone.
robyrob 07-14-2012, 09:26 AM not me man, I am hating cell phones more and more with each passing day.
- of course I am now actively trying to be a grumpy old fart so that I am well ahead of the curve before I actually get there.
PZelda 07-14-2012, 09:57 AM Yes'm, I do.
It's MY phone, MY bill. So I can do what I wanna when I feel like it! :p
OH Nuts! 07-14-2012, 10:34 AM No - my phone is a "victrola" - a first generation cell - no pix - you can just make/receive cell calls only. BUT I do hop onto my iPad first thing - and guess where......
Mr. Television 07-14-2012, 10:40 AM I have no cell phone so that's a big no. lol

I totally get where you're coming from. For some it's this great big toy that they MUST ALWAYS be on. Not talking about at home but outside...walking in the middle of the street..on a bus non-stop...on a public can..oblivious to all...BLAB BLAB BLAB YAK YAK YAK like its friggin oxygen or something.
That being said though, a cell is convenienent for my work. Using more than 90 min a month is rare for me. May upgrade to a phone with a camera. Being able to take pictures could come in handy for a crime, fantastic photo etc.
Although I am guilty of being on my tablet a lot at HOME I never ever carry it anywhere. When I'm outside; I like being alert to my surroundings. Also these small devices are easy to steal IMO.

Oh it's awful around here. I see people talking on their cellphones when they're driving, when they're walking and my personal favorite, in the stores blocking the aisles. I even saw one lady carrying out her groceries but she still was talking on the cellphone. That takes a lot of talent. lol
Miss Lisa 07-14-2012, 11:42 AM I do check my phone in the morning. I don't necessarily go online right away, just check for texts.
I'm not actually addicted to my phone. I'm addicted to having it with me either in my pocket or in my purse, but I don't like to have it out and using it all the time. I honestly get bored with my phone after about five minutes.
dakert 07-14-2012, 11:47 PM I dont have a cell phone and that is just fine with me

My morning routine
1.wake up,
2.grab my phone
3. check for text messages or missed calls
4. check my email
5. check facebook for notifications
RoryGilmore 07-16-2012, 12:03 PM In my house my phone is the alarm clock. It seems pointless to buy actual clocks when my fiance and I are walking around with phones in our pockets and computers around. So the alarm goes off of a morning and I grab my phone to turn it off and spend five minutes scrolling through facebook to wake myself up before I get up and take the dog out and my fiance does the same on facebook before he begins to get ready for work

The Facebook Morning scroll:lol:
D-Dey 07-20-2012, 11:49 AM No. I couldn't get onto my cell phone's web browser if my life depended on it. If I try to type in a URL, once I go past two characters, it conks out.... three characters on days that it decides to be generous.
Besides that, I mostly use my cell phone for phone calls anyway. That, and a pocket watch, and believe it or not, occasionally an alarm clock.
Chocolate Moose 07-20-2012, 12:52 PM I should. That way if my trainer cancels, I don't get up before 6 am for nothing.
duckie 07-20-2012, 02:23 PM Well, since no one else will admit to it, but sometimes i use my cell phone to post on Sitcoms Online in the morning while sitting on the toilet. lol Come on, admit it, i know some of you other people do it to. lol

If Facebook was not around I would post on SitcomsOnline but I go to Facebook first for new notifications. Plus it's hard for me to post on SitcomsOnline using a "blackberry"
gilligan fanatic 07-20-2012, 08:46 PM Yup, but on my Ipad and not my phone

Family Ties Forever! 07-21-2012, 08:49 PM I don't have Internet access on my phone.

Really??? That's like a HD-TV with no cable:lol:

The reason my phone doesn't have Internet access is because my vision is so limited that I wouldn't be able to see anything on the small screen. I have a basic cellphone that you slide up to open and down to close. It doens't have a keyboard. It has numbers.
I have Internet access only on my computer.

Have you looked at tablets? The text on them are much bigger than phones or smartphones
Brieannas21 07-23-2012, 09:41 PM No, my mornings are busy. I don't check emails or messages until I'm at work.

Brieannas21 07-23-2012, 09:50 PM i'm talking about when you are still in bed
No, once my eyes pop open I'm out of bed. I don't stay in bed. My phones are normally downstairs charging.

So you just POP out of bed as soon as you wake up? Why don't allow yourself to wake up?
Brieannas21 07-23-2012, 09:59 PM So you just POP out of bed as soon as you wake up? Why don't allow yourself to wake up?
Yep, when my eyes open next thing I'm out of bed. I have things to do in the morning. When I tell you that my mornings are busy, they are busy.

Brieannas21 07-23-2012, 10:09 PM Set the Alarm a little earlier
I wake up between 5-5:30, I refuse to wake up at 4:45 LOL.
TVFactFan 07-23-2012, 10:16 PM I wake up between 5-5:30, I refuse to wake up at 4:45 LOL.
So set for 5am and get up at 5:15am
OR
Set it for 5:15am and get up at 5:30am

If I were to do that I would fall back to sleep. I don't even have a TV in my bedroom. So there isn't anything to keep me up. I wake, I get up.
