Even harder Trivia-Wally, Ward, or June, says a classic line when Beaver comes down to breakfast, but I can't remember what it is!

The one where he overdoes the after shave was Brother verses Brother and has the hots for Mary Tyler. I think the other one is where he has a double date with Wally and his girl. I can't recall the names right now. As for the classic line, I think Ward said, "I believe love has come to Beaver Cleaver."

As much as he wants to go on a cross-country trip Ward has arranged for him for 6 weeks during the summer, Beaver doesn't want to leave new love interest Mary Margaret (Matthews? - not sure of the last name) to fall prey to the charms (or perhaps lack thereof :confused: ) of Gilbert. He puts the after-shave on before going to her house to tell her about the trip - and Gilbert stops by, making Beaver think twice about the trip. In the end both boys (or should I say "Teddy" and "Gilly" as Mary Margaret calls them) go on the trip while she romances Whitey!!! Not a very choosy girl. In fact, at one point, Wally calls her "an operator"!! True.

I think there is an edit in "Beaver The Sheepdog" where Gilbert talks about one of the girls and her "Jackie Kennedy wig." That must have been cut out of the negatives, because it hasn't appeared anywhere again, to my knowledge.

Yeah I watched the episode yesterday. I'm amazed they found that 'hunk' of dialog--I think it's been 'lost' for a long time. Check this one out though: in the ooh ohh la la blouse (June's birthday) episode from season 3, there has been a longtime cut, where Miss Landers is explaining to the class that they are going over to Mrs. So and So's house, so they can sing for the mothers. Most of that dialog was cut out so there is no explanation for the trip. Check that out--it is missing from the Shout DVD. I'm amazed the episode still clocks at over 25 minutes, but it could be only a 10 or 15 second cut. This is really a great episode, by the way...imho...it has one of the few great scenes between Jerry and Barbara.

Shout Factory/Universal claim the disks are uncut, but as you know, some episodes are a little too short for a late 50's-60's sitcom. As to what may be missing, we may never know. I'm told "Wally's Sweater" runs short and so does "Long Distance Call." I have no knowledge of anything cut, but they run, if memory serves correct at about 25 mins. It would SEEM that uncut LITB episodes would be anywhere from 25:30 to 26 minutes. What are your thoughts? Could some scenes have been snipped post-production?

I've been skeptical all along that some LITB DVD episodes have little snippets cut, the running times of some episodes just don't jive, the 3rd season is especially guilty, some episodes clock in barely over 25 minutes and the shortest ones clock in a little under 25 minutes. That's unfortunate but I guess we just have to accept it, I think these episodes are as complete as they're going to get.

In the School Sweater episode, there's that scene mid episode where Wally walks in and tells Ward and June he and Beaver are going to try and catch the gopher in the yard. There is no mention of a gopher previously in the episode, so right there is an error and alerted me that some dialog was cut from this episode.

I was interested when antenna started running the series--same edit.

In the last season in the episode where Wally has the party and Beaver wrecks it, on the DVD there is a part where Ward and June are listening upstairs where Wally and his friends are dancing but the music keeps cutting on and off (Beaver put a trick gadget in the plug), June respnds "how can anybody dance like that?". Ward replies "its a new dance, the hesitation twist". That scene has been cut whenever it plays on TV. I had forgotten about that until I got the set.

The 3rd season has the most variance in episode run times. The shortest ones run about 24:55 and the longest ones run about 25:55. I would say it's possible at least some of the shorter episodes are missing brief snippets here and there, probably difficult to detect unless you're watching real close. I suspect there might be an edit in the School Sweater episode.

I viewed the Long Distance Call episode on the DVD and I did not see anything obvious where something might be cut, so I think it's the complete episode. The 5th season is interesting in the fact that the episodes themselves not including the closing credits run between 24:30 and 25:00. The shorter episodes utilize a longer closing credit sequence and the longer episodes utilize a shorter closing credit sequence, to result in a total run time of 25:30. Long Distance Call however, is an exception. Although the episode proper runs 24:30, the shorter closing credit sequence was used, causing the episode to run 25:00 instead of the normal 25:30.

I just saw "June's Birthday" on Antenna TV. Check with your DVD's, but in the version that Antenna TV has, it picks up with Ms. Landers saying, "Now let's try that last part again." (she uses a pitch-pipe cue) and the class does "Old McDonald." Than Judy raises her hand and Ms. Landers acknowledges her, and Judy says, "Ms. Landers, Larry was making noises during the song." She sternly asks, "Larry, were you making noises?" Larry says, "No Miss Landers, those are my Oinks!" LOL! Mrs. Landers says, well you just make sure they are."

Not sure what's next, but I think Ms. Landers says, "Now we'll all assemble in the playground right after lunch." Than, Whitey asks, "Are we coming back (to school) after Mrs. Harrison's house, or do our Mother's get to keep us?" Ms. Landers says, "No, the bus will bring us back here." Whitey's question DOES imply that the kids knew were they were going, but as stated above, no mention is made of this, until Whitey's question.

Side note: There's another episode where the kids sing Old McDonald, it's the one where the Mayfield School Superintendent is to come to visit, (Dr. Wade.) After they sing this time, Judy asks, "Should I thank Dr. Wade before we sing or after?" Mrs, Landers says, "after, Judy." Than Larry says, Ms. Landers, should I sing when Dr. Wade comes, or just move my mouth like I am?" She says, "We'll Larry, you're improving, but I think we better wait till Superintendent Wade's NEXT visit before you REALLY sing!" LOL!

Don't know what episode this is from. I have seen it on the DVD, If it is supposed to be from "June's Birthday" it is a HUGE cut by Antenna TV and probably all other syndicated prints. However, any line about going to Mrs. Harrison's house before Whitey asks about it, is gone.

The episode Tire Trouble might be edited also. Watching the episode on the DVD, there are a couple places in the beginning where one scene ends and the next begins that don't look quite right, like something might have been edited out. I don't know for sure though, it just looks suspicious. Of the 39 season 3 episodes, about 10 of them have the shorter run time compared to the rest.
