View Full Version : Reunion movies may never be officially released.
Jude The Obscure 06-27-2012, 08:31 PM I asked Shout! on their Facebook page if they ever planned to release the reunion movies and they told me they do not have the rights to them. So it looks like I'll have to get them another way. I highly doubt that Sony will ever put these out--not even on MOD.
Cincy Guy 07-04-2012, 09:31 AM That's too bad. Those two made-for-TV movies from 1977 enabled viewers to see that Jim & Margaret still lived in the same house and what had happened to each of the children over the years. Both shows are, of course, in color which gives viewers a first there for the series. The "Home For Christmas" show from December, 1977 was particularly good and provided a final episode of sorts as Bud and his wife buy the family home and Jim # Margaret buy a camper and drive off to see the rest of the country.
Jude The Obscure 07-04-2012, 08:09 PM i enjoyed both of them when USA network reran them in the '80s. i've read where there was supposed to be a third TV movie, but apparently NBC changed its mind.
DennisF 12-12-2012, 10:57 AM The copies I got from someone on ioffer are terrible quality. I really wish I could see these in better quality.

well, we know what happened to the daughter that Elinor Donahue played (I forget her name). In the early 60s she moved to Mayberry, north carolina; became the owner of a drugstore and started dating sherrif Andy Taylor.
And after that; in the 70s she moved to New York and into an apt. over Oscar Madison and Felix Unger. And both times she changed her name.

After reading reviews about the source I was going to use, I changed my mind.

And, she didn't stop there. In the early 80's she changed her name, yet again. As evil Nurse Kate Hunnicut she moved to Salem wreaking havoc on the poor folk on Days of our Lives. I think she is still in prison for the dastardly deeds she commited there.
It was actually kind of fun seeing her play the "bad" guy for a change.

After she left Mayberry, and before arriving in New York to be Felix's girlfriend, she took a jaunt in to space to be a Star Fleet ambassador. She stayed on a remote planet and melded with an odd life form up there, so we really don't know how she made it back to New York.

that's right, I forgot about that. (for all the non-trekies, he's reffering to an episode of STAR TREK she did in 1966 or 67-I'm not sure)
DennisF 03-20-2013, 02:26 PM Anybody remember what Bud's occupation turned out to be? Mechanic? Maybe it was mentioned in the reunion movie.
Mickey4ever 06-26-2013, 09:18 PM ...and after returning from space...she visited the west with her long lost sister Michaela Quinn, Medicine Woman

It was revealed in the May '77 reunion movie (Sunday, May 15, 1977) that Bud became a professional motorcycle racer. See the article below. All of this is material I scanned a few years ago and posted on a message board:

DennisF 06-27-2013, 09:54 AM Thanks so much for the answer! I thought it might have had something to do with motorcycles. I emailed Bill Gray through another site, but never got a reply.
JohnnyFever6 03-06-2014, 03:56 PM Hopefully Shout Factory will come through! The copies I have aren't very good quality either. Surprised Antenna TV doesn't have the rights to them.

This would be interesting to see, maybe someone will come through eventually and make it so.

I read about a possible third film on another thread, as if it /did/ happen... there were definitely only two, though?

Great stuff!
If we can't get the actual 1977 films, at least we have this material...

I hope Shout does get these artifacts in print... I'd like to get a closer look at Kathy... looks like she blossomed into quite a lovely lady, eventually.
Unmarried P.E. teacher, though..?
