In Philly the CBS Evening News comes on at 6:30pm and was wondering isn't that the case for New York City? Local News at 6pm and World News at 6:30pm

That's the same here in New York although in 1974 it was probably different. Keep in mind, now the 7pm hour is filled with entertainment news shows like ET, Extra and access Hollywood.

I just had a damm tv guide from 1974 last week to find out why Cronkite came on at 7pm. Now I have to find out:lol:

Brian i just found out the CBS affiliates had the option of carrying the CBS Evening News at a later time in 1974 and WCBS made the decision to air the news at 7pm.

Yeah, Entertainment Tonight didn't exist in 1974. LOL

I seem to recall reading somewhere that on WCBS-TV the CBS Evening News moved from 7:00 to 6:30 in September 1988.
